Stargate SG-1: O'Neill and Carter

Episode 11: Bloodlines

Scene: mission debriefing with General Hammond upon returning from the mission

Character POV: Carter

Teal'c continued to describe the condition of finding his home on Chulak, once a gift from Apophis and now a charred ruin, and meeting with Master Bra'tac. Of course, General Hammond was interested in this Master Bra'tac as this was another new person in Teal'c's life that we knew nothing about before. Teal'c was stoic as ever in relating the details but I couldn't help but remember his emotions showing so prominently when we first came upon his home and the traitor symbol.

"He was a feisty old man," started Colonel O'Neill, "for a man of…. How old was he again?"

"Bra'tac is 153 years old, Sir," I reminded him. I didn't elaborate and instead had to look down at the table and focus on one spot to keep from adding salt to the wound that was Master Bra'tac making the Colonel eat dirt when they first met.

"He even learns fast, General. He learned a new cliché while we were there," the Colonel finished. The General almost rolled his eyes at the Colonel's comment but continued to ask Teal'c questions about the mission.

In the end, we still had to give Rya'c one of the Goa'uld larva due to the fact that he was already dying from scarlet fever. The love a father has for his son never seems to amaze me. Especially since my own father didn't have much interest in me even after my own mother had passed.

My internal application of events seemed to register with the Colonel as I felt his concerned gaze. A lift of one eyebrow asked if I was okay while my slight nod answered that I was. Teal'c never stopped answering the General's questions.

I had to give my rendition with Daniel's help regarding the finding of the larva repository where we stole the one now living in Teal'c. I kind of wish we had the ability to see into the future as it would have been to our benefit to steal two of them instead of just the one; one for Teal'c and one for study which is what we had planned for in the first place.

I tried to keep my voice level and never gave any indication that reaching into that water was one of the grossest things I've ever had to do as a military service member. Thankfully Daniel didn't elaborate either. Not that he could do much other than look forlorn as his actions before we began our way back to the gate prevented us from retrieving any more.

"So Master Bra'tac is still on Chu'lak?" asked the General.

"Yes, Sir," answered the Colonel.

"I believe he will be of great assistance in our continued battle with the Goa'uld," added Teal'c.

"That's settled then. And your wife and son will remain safe?" asked the General.

"I believe they will," answered Teal'c with confidence even when emotion never shows on his face or in his voice.

"Very well, dismissed," the General said, rose and left the room.
