Hey guys! Here's a quick status update: I have decided that I will end this one fic with the entrance ceremony to the academy. However, I love this story a lot, and I will make one shots of the times they have in school, but I will simultaneously be making a fic for after they graduate. Anyway, still working this one until then. This chapter is very short and only includes a few characters, for I did not want any repetition. It's really just a transition. On with the apocalypse!...I mean chapter.
They all flooded back into the Squad Ten room and began to tear apart any present with their name on it. Kaien grabbed a long, thin box with his name on it and inside was a Shinai, or a practice sword made from bamboo. Ichigo came over and said, "I assumed that you would want to learn Zanjutsu, but it looks like you will learn it regardless." Kaien hugged his dad and said, "Thanks, Dad." Ichigo hugged his son back.
"Ichigo." Ichigo looked up from his father/son moment to Kisuke with a small box in his hand, "Here's a present for your quincy daughter." He winked and Ichigo took the gift from him. He turned and gave it to Masaki who was standing behind him, "It's from Urahara." He said, unsure of the gift.
Masaki took it and opened it. Inside was a cross that Quincies used to make their bows. Urahara explained, "I forged it using the samples I got from the war. I hope it helps with the training." Masaki put the chain on her wrist and smiled, "I always kinda knew I wouldn't look good as a soul reaper. Thanks Urahara." Kisuke nodded and walked away.
Rukia walked up to Ichigo and said, "One about to be soul reaper, and one quincy in training. We are one heck of a family." Ichigo nodded in agreement, and he then hunted for his own presents.
"OMG! Masaki, you got a quincy pendant too!" Setsuna exclaimed, hugging Masaki. She pulled back and said, "I got an advanced version." She raised her hand and a pentagram hung from her wrist. Masaki smiled and said, "This is really exciting! I'm apart of a rare species!"
"Um, Masaki?" Masaki turned to the shy voice behind her to see Nanami in a Christmas Hat(In my imagination it is the most adorable thing). She almost whispers when she says, "Listen, Chappy, I'm really gonna miss you when I start at the academy. Truthfully, with you gone, I'm the only girl of the gang that can't transform in any way." Masaki smiled and said, "I'm sure you can out do them at something. I look at them and bet you will do better at kido than any of them."
Nanami smiled warmly and said, "Thanks Chappy." Masaki hugged her friend and said, "For the academy, I recommend just hanging around the others, but I also recommend flirting with Matthew every now and when you get the confidence." Nanami chuckled and said, "Sure, why not."
Just then, Neko walked by and asked, "Hey do you guys know where to find a mistletoe? I wanna surprise Takashi." No one answered, but Masaki did say, "First can I say something. Why would you ever keep it a secret?" Neko shrugged and said, "Takashi's a nervous wreck about his father's view of him, and I'm fine with it. However, I figured no one would really care if it was a trend to share with everyone."
Masaki nodded in understanding and answered Neko's earlier question, "Rumor has it that my parents got together by a mistletoe held by Captain Hirako. Maybe he has one on him." Neko said, "Thanks." and turned to where she saw Captain Hirako, but of course, she and the others also watched plenty of chaos happen before them.
"An ice pack?" Shinji asked Hiyori after opening his present. Hiyori nodded and said, "Toshiro helped me make it. We think you'll find yourself needing it." Shinji raised an eyebrow and began to ask, "Why would I ne-BLAAH!" However, he was interrupted by something familiar hitting his face.
He flew into the wall and covered his bleeding face, yelling by habit, "WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT, HIYORI?!" But he remembered Hiyori was in front of him the whole time, and he cracked a peak at the culprit through his fingers. There stood an overly confident Kirio with a flip flop in her hand. She raised it high and said, "Best Christmas present ever! Up until now, I was never aloud to wear flip flops. This rocks!" She began jumping around proudly, and Shinji covered his face with the ice pack and mumbled, "Ok, now I feel the family resemblance."
Kirio sniffed the air and asked no one in particular, "What's that smell?" She walked toward Shinji and lifted one of his sleeves. She picked something out of it and found it to be a small green plant. She ran of to Hiyori and asked, "Hey mom, what's this?"
Hiyori took the plant and a vein popped out of her head. She stood up and started shouting at Shinji, "SHINJI, YOU DUMBASS! YOU BROUGHT MISTLETOE IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE MORE COUPLES, DIDN'T YOU?!" Shinji was already standing up, but Hiyori hit him back down with her own flip flip. Before she verbally abused him even more, she noticed that someone had taken the mistletoe from her hand. She ignored it and completely wailed on Shinji.
"Wow, you are fast." Masaki complemented Neko as she came back with the mistletoe. Neko replied, "Thanks, and let me just say that everyone knowing who Kirio's mother is will only make her far more aggressive than she was before hand. Anyway, I gotta go make out with Takashi. See ya." She waved and walked away while the other three girls giggled.
Neko grabbed her present for Takashi, a wrapped up wooden sword, and tied the mistletoe to it. Then, she walked up behind Takashi and said, "Merry Christmas, Takashi!" He turned around to her and smiled while she put her hand out with the wrapped up sword up. Takashi looked the gift up and down and said sarcastically, "I wonder what it could be."
Neko rolled her eyes and said, "Look up you dummy." Takashi looked up at the mistletoe hanging from the swords tip. He smirked, and Neko chuckled slightly before kissing him. After she pulled away she asked, "You're not mad?"
Takashi sighed and said, "Better now than never. I'm just happy my dad didn't freak out about it." Neko laughed and said, "Your dad's so stoic, I doubt he would ever freak out about anything."
"Yeah, I guess." Takashi said. Neko smiled and grabbed his hand, "Well, I'm just glad we shared before we wound up repeating what happened to Riko's parents." Instead of agreeing, Takashi corrected her, "Didn't she say her name was Kirio ten minutes ago." Neko sighed and said, "Whatever, same person. Do you get what I'm trying to say?"
"Yes, I do. Thank you for sharing the secret Neko." He kissed her again and asked, "Do I still get the wooden sword?" Neko rolled her eyes again and gave him the wrapped sword. In response, he gave her a small box. She opened it and pulled out a black cat plushie.
She squealed and wrapped her arms around Takashi's neck, "Oh my gosh! How did you know I loved cats?" Takashi looked up in thought and said, "Well, your name means cat, and you can turn into one. It was just a good guess."
Neko looked in the box again and pulled out a hawk plushie. She raised an eyebrow at him, and he explained, "I figured your cat would need a friend, so I got her a hawk boyfriend since my name means hawk." Neko chuckled and said, "You're so cheesy."
"Ok, everyone! May I have your attention here!" Toshiro said on the stage after a few hours of everyone opening presents. Outside, the sun had just begun to rise. Once everyone stopped talking, he pulled a festive looking box with a slit in the top from behind his back, "As most of you know, I'm not one for planning parties. So, I had people recommend activities and put them in this box. Now, it is time to select the first thing to do on this Christmas Day."
He puts his hand in the box and pulls out one card, "The first thing is-"
If anyone out there wants to recommend a christmas day activity, I'm all for it. I'll incorperate as many of your ideas as I can. That is the question of the chapter! Anyway, another question I could ask is: What do you think could happen after the seven soul reapers graduate and the other five master their skills? R&R and I'll see you guys next chapter!
