It's Monday morning and there is no school. It's a half an hour until Alison leaves for Georgia. Hanna and Spencer are at home while Emily is at Alison's house.
Emily: I was so terrified. I thought I was accidentally gonna slit someone's throat with my ice skate. Or that I was gonna accidentally cut myself.
Emily pulls out her phone and sends a text.
Alison: Oh my goodness, why?
Alison sits back at the kitchen table next to Emily, their chairs facing each other.
Emily: The bottom of ice skates are super sharp.
Alison: They really are.
Emily: I fell three times and Caroline had to hold my hand the rest of the time.
Alison: That stopped you from falling, right?
Emily: Nope.
They start giggling.
Emily: And what's even worse, Caroline fell right on top of me.
Alison: Oh wow. That must've hurt.
Emily: Really bad. (She pauses) Do you have any siblings stories you want to tell?
Alison: Not really. Jason and I are so far apart in age, we didn't really do that much together.
Emily: Really?
Alison: Yeah. I mean, we lived in the same house but we didn't hang out that much together outside of the house. That's what I had Toby for. He was like a second brother to me.
Emily: Wow. What about when you got older?
Alison: Not really. He went to Wharton School of Business in Philly but when he was 21, he went back to Georgia for College. We stayed in Philly and he's been there for two years.
Emily: Is he coming back to Rosewood for good?
Alison: My mom said he will after graduation. Which I'll have to go back to Georgia for as well.
Emily: You guys are six years apart, right?
Alison: Yup.
Emily: Caroline and I are exactly four years apart.
Alison: You have the same birthday?
Emily: Yup! I hated it when I was younger because we had to share a cake. I wanted my own cake.
Alison starts giggling.
Alison: You are so cute.
Alison leans in. Emily leans in as well. They both kiss on the lips.
Mrs. D walks into the kitchen.
Mrs. D: Get a room you two.
Alison and Emily lean back in their chairs giggling.
Mrs. D: You guys want something to eat?
Emily: Yeah.
Alison: I could eat. What time is it?
Mrs. D: It's ten-thirty. We'll be leaving to get on the plane in another hour.
Mrs. D takes a carton of eggs and a pack of turkey bacon out of the fridge.
Emily: You guys really have a private jet?
Alison: Yup.
Emily: That is so cool!
Alison: Maybe my loving parents will let us use it for Spring Break!
Mrs. D: Nope.
Mrs. D puts bacon on a frying pan and ot starts to sizzle.
Alison: That is so not fair. Jason got to take his girlfriend to Hawaii last year.
Mrs. D: Jason is also older and more responsible.
Alison: I'm responsible.
Mrs. D: You lost Cookie the first day you got her. That is not the act of someone responsible. Don't you agree Emily?
Emily opens her eyes wide.
Emily: Uhh, yeah. I agree.
Alison: You're supposed to be on my side.
Emily: Who's Cookie?
Alison: A dog my parents bought me for my fifteenth birthday.
Emily: How did you lose a dog?
Mrs. D: I've been asking that question for two and a half years
Alison: I didn't lose her, she ran away. Big difference.
Mrs. D puts bacon and cheese eggs on three plates. She hands Emily and Alison a plate and sits down with hers.
Alison: You want some juice Em?
Emily: Yes please!
Emily pours two cups of orange juice for herself and Emily and sits back down at the table.
Emily: Thank you!
Alison kisses her on the cheek.
Alison: You're welcome.
Mrs. D looks at Alison and Emily.
Mrs. D: You guys are so adorable. Will I get an invitation to the wedding?
Mrs. D eats a forkful of eggs. Emily starts giggling.
Alison: Oh my god, Mom. Stop.
Mrs. D: What? I ship you guys together.
Alison: What?
Mrs. D: You don't know what ship means?
Emily: Like a boat ship or...
Emily bites a piece of her bacon.
Mrs. D: Yeah. I'd put you two on a ship and ship you guys off together.
Alison: Ohhh. Now I know what you mean.
Emily: What does she mean?
Alison: You know how people on Twitter say they have OTP's?
Emily: One True Pairings? Yeah.
Alison: Yeah, well a ship is like that. But you can also ship friendships too. Like Monica and Rachel's friendship.
Emily: Ohh yeah.
Alison: Theirs this couple on an ABC Family TV show that everyone ships. And it's weird cause they have the same names as us.
Emily: So what will our ship name be ?
Emily takes a sip of her OJ.
Alison: I don't know. Alily?
Mrs. D: No, that's sounds like a kind of cat.
Emily: What about last names?
Alison: DiLields?
Emiky: No that sounds horrible.
Mrs. D: Agreed. I have a suggestion.
Alison: What is your suggestion?
Mrs. D: What about Emison?
Alison: Emison? That's sounds way better!
Emily: I like that one!
Alison: Thanks mom!
Mrs. D: No problemo.
Twenty minutes passed and they're finished eating breakfast. Mrs. D is in the kitchen and Emily and Alison walk upatairs into Alison's room. The doorbell rings.
Mrs. D: I'll get it. (She yells.)
Alison: I wonder who it is.
They both sit on Alison's bed. Emily shrugs her shoulders. They hear footsteps in the hallway.
Voice: Surprise!
Alison: What are you guys doing here?
Hanna: Emily texted us like thirty minutes ago.
Spencer: You don't think we'd let you leave without saying goodbye, did you?
Alison: Thanks for coming guys!
Alison gives Spencer, Aria and Hanna a hug. Emily phone starts ringing. It's a phone number she doesn't recognize.
Emily: I'll be right back guys.
Emily walks into the hallway and closes the door behind her.
Emily: Hello?
Voice: Emily? It's me.
Emily: Caroline?
Caroline: Hey baby sis!
Emily: Hey, how are you? I haven't talked to you in so long.
Caroline: I'm great. I lost my phone and I had to get a new one. Save this number in your phone.
Emily: Okay.
Caroline: How have you been? I miss you guys so much.
Emily: I've been great. How's college going?
Caroline: It's going great. I'll be finished this semester this Friday actually! And then I will graduate in June. You're coming to my graduation, right?
Emily: I wouldn't miss it!
Caroline: Good! How's mom doing?
Emily: She's doing great. She misses you a lot.
Caroline: I miss her too. Did you hear from dad?
Emily: Yeah. He's coming home this weekend!
Caroline: Well that sucks.
Emily: How does that sucks?
Caroline: I mean it sucks that I won't be there to see him.
Emily: You can't just come home this weekend?
Caroline: Nope. I have to get all my stuff together. I should be home permanently by mid-March
Emily: That's great! Why are you up so early, by the way? It's almost 8am in California.
Caroline: I know. I'm at the gym. Well, I have to get going. I love you baby sis.
Emily: I love you too. See you soon!
Caroline: One more thing, give mom my cell number. I wanna talk to her.
Emily: I will. Bye Caroline.
Caroline: Bye.
Emily hangs up her phone and walks back into Alison's room.
Aria: Who was on the phone?
Emily: My sister.
A half our passes and the girls are on the front porch saying their goobyes to Alison.
Alison: Oh, Hanna, these are for you.
Alison hands Hanna a pink and white bag that has Victoria Beckham pajamas in it. Mrs. D walks to black Range Rover and gets in on the passenger side. There is a guy with curly dark hair and caramel colored skin wearing a black tuxedo in the drivers seat. It's their chauffeur Axel.
Hanna: Thank you so much Ali.
Alison: No problem. And I can't forget my beautiful girlfriend.
Emily smiles at Alison and leans in to give her a hug.
Alison: A week without you is too long.
Emily: I know.
Alison smiles at Emily and kisses her on the lips. Alison puts her hands on Emily's waist and Emily wraps her arms around Alison's neck. They continue kissing. The car horn beeps and startles them. They break apart and Alison walks toward the car.
Alison: I'm gonna miss you guys. See you on Friday.
Alison gets in the car.
Girls: Bye Alison.
Alison walks to the car and waves at the girls. They wave back and walk to Spencer's house.
Mrs. D is pure amazement! Caroline is back and is graduating in June! Hmmm, I wonder who else is graduating in June? This shall be fun. I will be skipping a week so Chapter 22 will pick up the Friday Alison returns which is the day of the Hastings/DiLaurentis family meeting and the day Emily's father returns!
