Rosalie's POV

I hate when we argue, especially in front of Dillon.

"Daddy?" He looked up from playing and asked me.

"Daddy is working. Do you want to go shopping with mommy?"

"Store?"

"Yes, we are going to the store." I said smiling. "Let's go tell daddy." I said picking him up.

"Koichi?" I said knocking on his door.

No answer.

"Koichi?" I said opening the door.

He had fallen asleep working again. I took a blanket and wrapped it around his shoulder and wrote him a note telling him where we were going and left.

"Mommy!" Dillon said getting excited and pointed at the dog running around in the park.

"I see, but you need to sit down or you will fall." I said as I strapped him back in his stroller…again. I wish he never saw how to work the strap. Now he will undo it whenever he gets the chance.

"No!" he said fighting me.

"Dillon stop. You need to stay buckled and you know better." I said finally getting it and continuing to walk. "What do you want for dinner?"

"No." he said pouting at me.

"Dillon stop, you know you need to stay strapped in. Now what do you want for dinner?"

"No, mad."

"Okay, but then you won't get any dessert." I said looking down at him.

He looked up at me and smiled.

It works every time.

Koichi's POV

I must have fallen asleep at some point because I woke up and it was 4 in the afternoon.

I sat up and stretched when I saw the note from Rosalie.

Koichi,

I didn't want to wake you up. I thought you needed your rest so I'm taking Max with me to the store to get groceries. While we are gone take a bath and relax. We will be back soon. I love you

Rosalie

I decided to go ahead and take a quick shower while they were gone and then clean the kitchen.

While I was cleaning the kitchen the phone started ringing.

"Hello?"

"I do not know what you said to her to make her apologize but she did."

"Mother?"

"She came over and apologized."

"What are you talking about?"

"Rosalie…she came over with Dillon and apologized to me…left Dillon here with me.

At that moment the front door opened.

"I got to go." I said hanging up.

I walked into the living room as Rosalie did.

"What did you do?" I said looking at her.

"I take it that was your mother on the phone?"

"She told me you went to apologize to her and then let her watch Dillon for the night."

"I did." She said putting the groceries on the kitchen counter. "I walked with him over to her house and apologized. I told her that it was nice of her to offer to watch him and that I should have let her in the first place. I told her that I was sorry that I didn't take into count her feelings."

"I told you not to do that." I said getting mad and getting my jacket on.

"Where are you going?"

"Out." I said and left.

Rosalie's POV

He left….he has never done that. I don't understand what is going on with him. I mean I know the whole deal with his mother is part of it but he has never acted like this before. He seems to get very mad easily.

I just sighed as I started putting the groceries away when my mom called.

"Hello?"

"Rosalie, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, why?" I say trying to act cheerful.

"I'm your mother, I know when something is wrong. I can hear it in your voice."

"Nothing, its just…Koichi is upset."

"Why?"

"Because of his mother."

"From what you have told me before, isn't he always upset at her?"

"Yes but its different. He is even more mad. He raised his voice at lunch today and now he just left to go for a walk."

"Why?"

"Because I went over to her house and apologized and left Dillon there for the night."

"Now why would you go and do that after the way she treated you?"

"Because I do not want him and his mother fighting because of me. The last thing I want is for their relationship…however good or bad it is…to end because of me."

"Rosalie…you need to understand. Koichi loves you."

"I know he does."

"But you do not see how much he loves you. He is willing to risk his relationship with his mother for you. He is willing to do anything for you. Besides his mother is being a…"

"Mom!"

"What…I was going to say monster in law."

"Oh."

"Look, you just need to sit down and talk about all this with him. Hear his side of everything and try to understand how he is feeling. I mean, you obviously love him otherwise you would not be apologizing to her and letting her watch Dillon after the way she has been treating you."

"Yes, that is because I love him so much."

"Then you should understand that he loves you so much that he is willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy, including all this with his mother…I got to go. Your father is going to be home soon."

"Okay, thanks mom. Tell dad I said hi."

"I will. Love you."

"I love you too, bye." I said before hanging up the phone.

She was right, Koichi does love me. I have no doubt in that whatsoever…I guess I just never thought of him acting this way with his mother was because of me. I mean look at everything he has done for me with everything that has happened. I can be so stupid sometimes.

I was just finishing up dinner when Koichi came back home with Dillon.

"What is Dillon doing here?"

"My mother is no longer watching him until she starts treating you like you deserve."

"O…."

"Don't argue with me about it."

"I wasn't going to. I was saying ok."

"Okay?" he said looking at me quizzically. "Normally we argue over this."

"I know but I realized you were right. I realized that you are doing this because you love me."

"Yes, I do love you." He said kissing my forehead. "And you deserve to be treated better than she has been treating you."

"Thank you."

"What smells so good?"

"Dinner, I just finished making it."

"Good I am hungry, what about you buddy?" he asked picking Dillon up.

"Eat!" he said smiling.

"That's the plan." I said getting plates down to serve the food while Koichi put him in his highchair.

After dinner we gave Dillon a bath and put him to bed.

"I'm going to do dishes." I said walking toward the kitchen.

"Why don't you go take a nice warm bath and relax."

"But the dishes…"

"I will do them. You go take a bath."

"If you are sure."

"Go." He said pushing me toward the bathroom.

I was relaxing in the bath when I started to hear Koichi yelling.

"What in the world?" I said getting out and putting my robe on.

I walked out of the bathroom and down the hall.

"Koichi what's…" and there was his mother was standing there.

"You…I don't know why you think you can keep my grandson away from me but…"

"I am the one who brought him back home and told you to leave us alone. Rosalie had no idea what was going on. Besides it is not her fault."

"Ever since you married her you have…"

"Get out of my house." I said walking toward her.

"Excuse me."

"My son is sleeping and I rather not have him wake up. Now if you want to calmly talk about this fine. We can sit on the couch otherwise get out of my house."

She just looked at me shocked.

"You are not going to see my son until you learn to show me respect."

"In case you have forgotten, he is NOT your son."

"He is my son. I was trying my best to keep you happy so you could be a part of his life. However if this is how it is going to be, you will no longer be welcome in our house or be a part of his life. If you would like to be then I suggest you learn to show me respect."

"Koichi will not let that happen, right Koichi?" she said looking at him.

He just stood opening the door for her.

She looked at him then back at me before storming out of the house.

Koichi closed the door and turned to me.

"That was amazing." He said wrapping his arms around me.

"It didn't feel amazing, I'm still shaking." I said with a little laugh.

"Come, lets finish that bath." He said taking my hand and leading me to the bathroom again.

I woke up the next morning to hear Koichi talking on the phone.

I went to get Dillon up and dressed and the started breakfast before I heard Koichi coming out of the back room.

"Everything okay?"

"Yes, that was just my father asking what happened. Apparently mother has been driving him nuts crying and yelling about what happened."

"What did you tell him?" I asked giving Dillon his breakfast.

"The truth." He said pouring us both some coffee.

"And?"

"He agrees with us, which is good."

"Why, what happened?"

"She had been bugging him take me out of his will."

"What…I think your mother has gone crazy."

"So it seems." He said and then started quietly eating.

I dropped Dillon of with my mother before I headed to work.

"Morning Rosalie."

"Morning Aiba."

"Did you manage to send an email with…"

"The updated draft and send it to Mr. Shenshi." I said sitting my stuff on my desk.

"Good, I hope that he likes this idea otherwise we will have to postpone the opening." He said typing away on his computer.

"Here you go Rosalie." Said a coworker handing me a file.

"What's this?" I said opening it.

"I don't know, I was told to drop it of at your desk by Mr. Ebihara." she said before walking off.

I opened the file.

"What?" I said looking at it before heading to Mr. Ebihara's office.

"What is it?" Aiba asked as I walked off.

"Excuse me, Mr. Ebihara?"

"Rosalie, I see you got the file."

"Yes I did, but I do not understand. All my clients have been giving to someone else?"

"Yes."

"Why, I was working with them while I was on leave, so why have they been given to someone else?"

"It was not my choice."

"Did they say anything…"

"No, it wasn't the clients either, in fact they tried to argue to keep you."

"So then why?"

"The company feels that since you are just getting back that you should take it easy."

"But the opening for Mr. Shenshi is this week. Can I at least finish with him?"

"I'm sorry Rosalie, there is nothing I can do. For now just get started with your new clients." He said pointing to the folder.

"Okay." I said leaving his office and going back to my desk.

"What happened?"

"My clients have all been given to someone else. This is my new client list." I said tossing the file on my desk frustrated.

"Rosalie, I just got a call from Mr. Shenshi…" said a coworker.

"Here." I said handing her a file with the updated draft for the opening.

"Thanks." She said smiling and walking off.

"How many new clients do you have?"

"Not even half of what I had before." I said, looking at the list again.

"Do you need any help?"

"Thanks but no. I just need to call and start from there." I said picking up the receiver and dialing the first number.
