Hello fans, this is I regret to inform you the last chapter of 'YOU' as I feel I have exhausted the main plot line of the relationship. Plus I was becoming acutely aware that I was dragging things out too much. So I guess the final thing to say is enjoy...
"Merlin Andy are you mad!?" I've only just told her how I feel sober and you've already told everyone?" Narcissa was agitatedly pacing up and down Andromeda's sitting room, wringing her hands and continually rubbing her forehead as if trying to sooth a burning migraine.
"Cissy sweetheart, will you please stop pacing I can now see what Draco meant when he told me you look like a caged Centaur. There is nothing to worry about we had all relatively enough suspected there was something lurking beneath yours and Hermione's friendship. The only people who were surprised was Draco, George, Arthur, Ginny and Ronald, who by all accounts is hopping mad with jealousy and pent up resentment towards you and Draco for changing your ways. Minerva didn't mean to let anything slip but honestly the woman followed you out of the room and didn't come back for quite while what were we meant to tell the ever prying Weasley children and your son?" "
I don't know something other than the truth would have been helpful, how am I going to face her now?" Rubbing her face again she covered her mouth and whispered almost to herself "I've got to explain myself I've got to tell her I understand that there will never be a future that involves us romantically, regardless of how we feel for each other".
"Now why would you want to do a thing like that?" Came a familiar voice from the doorway, Molly Weasley regarded the blonde with a knowing expression.
"Molly" Narcissa flung herself at the ginger woman relieved at the comforting arms and petting she was receiving "I don't know what to do Molly, I've never been in this situation before and it's scaring me the fact I've lost all of my rationality and composure due to my emotions".
This was very true neither Molly nor Andromeda had ever witnessed Narcissa Black this worked up before, she looked frazzled. All her superiority and regal stature had vanished from her face and posture leaving a trembling slightly perspiring woman in their wake. It's rather becoming to her, thought Andromeda as she watched her sister's eyes flick rapidly back and forth whilst lighting up each time Hermione's name was mentioned. "Narcissa dear Andy is right there is no need to panic, the family are aware of the delicate situation you and Hermione are in and we all support you decision. Draco is practically ecstatic, he even questioned Hermione last night as to whether she loves you enough to get married"
"Married" squeaked Narcissa her legs turning to jelly beneath her, "Merlin if I don't scare her off my son will" she whispered sinking slowly onto the sofa next to Andromeda, her face paling even more.
"I think he is just happy that you finally have fallen in love with someone Cissy you mustn't take his que-"
"What did she say?" Molly blinked, "Hermione what did she say when Draco asked her if she would marry me?"
"Now that is something I cannot tell you dear, if you wish to know you go and ask Draco or Hermione"
"Molly please-"
"No, now off you go I think it's time you showed some of that Pure-Blood composure you used to spout about. Hermione is at the Manor with Draco and Harry, when I left she was in a much better state than you are now, so I suggest you pull yourself together, fix your face and hair and go and talk to her properly without getting upset or closing up, okay?" Narcissa looked up at the round woman who now had her hands on her hips in a defiant pose, "Well go on shift that skinny behind of yours and when me and Andy arrive I'll get started on lunch you don't look like you've eaten for weeks". Pointing a finger at the door the blonde sighed and nodded
"You're right" and with that she left the two woman, one with her finger outstretched while the other snorted with amusement into her hand.
The fire was crackling in the hearth as the two woman looked at anything but each other. Hermione was staring at the floor whilst Narcissa picked at her nails. They hadn't left things particularly well the day before, after breaking from the heated kiss Narcissa had left, locked herself in her room and not returned to the group. Hermione, furious with her actions had cursed the woman's name only to receive a loud chuckle from her former fiancée who had simply enclosed her in a hug and brought her back inside. "Hermione, I'm sorry for abandoning you yesterday I just, didn't know what to do this is all so new to me".
"It's new to me too Cissy. Dear god I hope you don't think I just knew how to deal with this do you? You're a woman twice my age, who is mother to my ex-fiancée not to mention not exactly someone who has the cleanest past". Narcissa nodded in agreement,
"I know and now can you see why I have been acting the way I have, the person I am is not the person you should be in love with Hermione. Merlin my father would turn in his grave if he ever heard me say this but I am damaged goods, and that is not what a Golden one should be looking at," distain dripped from her lips as she spoke about herself. Tears trickled out of the corners of Hermione's eyes, she looked away
"No you're not, you're not damaged" Narcissa left her chair and knelt in front of the brunette who turned her face away. Taking the woman's hand the blonde stroked it
"Yes love, yes I am and you are foolish to deny it. I have an ex-husband in Azakaban, a son who has had an affair, a deranged murdering elder sister and another who is disowned, I am very damaged goods". Hermione breathed out a soft sob before looking down her companion
"Why did you want me to come back to the Manor after I left?"
"That's a ridiculous question Hermione you know why because there was no reason to leave, Draco made the mess and Draco was going to clean it up. What he did was awful but we didn't want you to leave due to it".
"That's not what I meant" Hermione bore into Narcissa who blushed and looked away,
"Because I wanted to keep you at a safe distance and still have you, than risk losing you altogether when you walked out". Hermione's response was sharp,
"You see the difference between you and me is the fact I am not scared Cissy. I know how I feel in my heart and whether that will amount to anything is down to you". Narcissa frowned
"Me? Why me?"
"Over the past week and a bit I've come to realise what I want, but you're fear is the only thing standing in the way of that. I want the truth Cissy please I can't keep playing this game. When I left you were all I could think about, everything about you haunted me, so tell me do you or do you not want to have a relationship with me?"
The fire crackled on, Narcissa's heart pounded in her chest as she stared up at the brunette. Hermione's heart sank when she didn't receive an immediate answer, tears welled up in her eyes as she swallowed and readied herself to leave. "I'll take your silence as a no, then shall I?" Getting up she felt a strong hand still her whilst another slapped her across the face, it wasn't hard but it sent hot tingles over her skin.
"Don't you dare expect me to answer without processing what you have just said" Narcissa's voice shook as she held onto Hermione's wrist, a tear trickled down the young woman's face as she looked away ashamed for jumping to conclusions.
"I'm sorry" she whispered "I didn't give you chance to think, it just felt like rejection your silence". Lifting the now slightly pink face Narcissa gazed down into the shadowy brown eyes of Hermione, licking her lips she swallowed
"Yes" she breathed. Hermione's brows rose in surprise, "Yes Hermione I do want to be in a relationship with you". Reaching up the Hermione pressed her lips against the elders
"Good" she muttered against her mouth "Because I want nothing more".
18 years later…
"Lucas Black, come here this instant!" Narcissa smirked at the sound of the angry woman's voice reverberating throughout the Manor. The sound of scuttling feet could be heard from behind the door,
"Mum quick hide me she'd going to kill me". The young boy dived behind through the door and hid behind Narcissa's chair.
"What exactly have you done this time to enrage your mother so?" she asked turning in the chair to raise a finely sculpted eyebrow at her panting son.
"I'll tell you what he's done" the angry voice spoke from the doorway, Hermione stood letter gripped in a fist at her hip shaking her head. "Lucas Black this is the third I repeat third letter I have received from Professor McGonagall this year so far and it's only Christmas. What were you thinking sneaking off in the middle of the night? You know you aren't mean to be out of bed after hours"
"We were only going down to see Hagrid Mum"
"WE!? We? Are you telling me someone else was out of bed too, oh no wait don't tell me of course there was because it was Scorpius wasn't, honestly when will you two learn?" Narcissa chuckled softly at the sight of her wife chastising their son,
"You can hardly blame him love, he is after all Black as well as Granger and I seem to remember a certain young girl who used to go sneaking around after hours".
"This is nothing to do with me, this is to do with Lucas and his older brother's son, now I expect you to toe the line next term mister otherwise there will be no flying lessons with Uncle Harry over summer got it?"
"But Mum I've got o have flying lessons or I wont be able to try out for the team next year"
"I know that's the sacrifice you'll have to make if you don't follow the rules".
"Ohhhhhh, Muuuummmmmm" Hermione held up a hand
"Ah. Don't whine Lucas you are a Black and Black's don't whine" Hermione's stern voice shut the young boy up, "Now go up to your room and get changed for tea, Draco will be here in half an hour". Stomping past his mother Lucas huffed to himself and mutter about her not understanding.
Glancing past the form of Hermione Narcissa smiled happily to herself, hanging on the wall behind the woman's head was a large portrait. As petals floated down above them, the moving figures of herself and her wife laughed and waved as their family and friends crowded around them smiling at the camera. They'd married almost two years after the night she'd finally voiced her feelings for the younger woman, beforehand though to save public criticism they'd left the country for six months to travel across America and privately discover themselves as a couple. Draco had supported them all the way, and whilst they had been away he had fought the prophet vigorously to keep their names clean and out of the public eye. Astoria had been forgiven and accepted into the family as Draco's new fiancée to which there had been a large party and plenty of laughter when they returned from across the pond. Of course the day she had taken Hermione to the very spot where she had saved her life from a falling chandelier, dropped to one knee and explained that without the brunette in her life, she would be nothing. Exclaimed that she wanted it to be official, public, embossed of the family tree that Hermione was hers forever had been tremendously stressful. The ring she'd produced was received with gleeful squeaks and happy tears of "yes" and "of course"; it fitted perfectly and was pictured on the front cover of the prophet the very next day. Rita Skeeter had been hopping with excitement as she'd asked questions and clicked her fingers for her photographer to pap the happy couple. It truly had been the perfect day, her beautiful Hermione in a simple yet elegant ivory dress whilst she wore an impressively tight suit with large horrifyingly thin stilettos. The whole family had been there even Ronald who had apologised in front of everyone for his behaviour at the Manor, and graciously accepted a good slap in the face from Hermione before being hugged within an inch of his life.
The Wedding reception was no where near as big as their baby shower though. Hermione been secretly desperate for a baby, and when Draco announced that he and Astoria were trying she'd shyly brought up the subject. Surprised she'd said yes under the condition that Hermione was to use that marvellous brain of hers and create a potion that could prolong the physical aging process. She didn't want to look nearly 60 when her child was born. Hermione had done it of course, driven by the desire of motherhood and a proper family lifestyle she'd created 'ProLix' and sold it on for hundreds of thousands. Not that she'd needed that amount of money considering the Black's fortune but she'd claimed it secured their life together forever financially. Of course their news of Hermione's pregnancy reached the farthest corners of the globe and for weeks congratulation letters had flooded in, each personally replied to by herself and Hermione. Lucas Orian Black was born on April 16 2006 a mere month after Scorpius and from the word go both two boys had been as thick as thieves. Draco had been delighted at having a baby brother and doted on him as much as his own son. Every Friday Draco, Astoria and Scorpius had come round for Dinner, Andromeda came with Teddy every Wednesday and she and Hermione took Lucas to 'The Burrow' every Sunday for Molly's infamous lunch. Family had become the focus point of everyone, support and love flowed through all parts, no one was ever alone.
The boys had both been sorted into Slytherin, much to Minerva's amusement but had been told by every member of the family to make friends with the other houses regardless of the stigma associated with their house. Ron had encouraged competitiveness in Quidditch, claiming it was good to thrash the other houses. Hermione had not been happy with that, but no amount of lecturing had dissuaded the red head from filling the boys head with tactics and manoeuvres. For weeks that had been all Lucas had begged for, his very own broom so he could practise Quidditch and get onto the house team. So of course the when a large brown parcel had arrived at Hogwarts addressed to Lucas and Scorpius both boys had been over the moon when it had turned out to be their very own 'Firebolts' courtesy of Harry as a good luck present for them.
Of course she had not been surprised when McGonagall had written and explained that their darling boy had been misbehaving, and neither had Draco. Hermione had been annoyed but understood that Lucas had been stretching his wings for the first time ever since being away from home. The second letter though had caused quite the argument. Luckily for the boys they had been at school so there had been little Hermione or Draco could have done. Narcissa remembered laughing heartily at the red faced woman as she'd berated about his lack of respect for school rules. A quick kiss and a cup of tea had sorted her out though and soon peace had returned. The boys had returned home from their first term and Christmas had been full of laughter, family and mountains of presents. The Manor had been the most obvious place to have Christmas at as it had been for the past 12 years, it's fully restored structure brought a warmth to its inhabitants.
Getting up from the chair Narcissa crossed the short distant between them enveloped Hermione in a soothing hug and kissed her forehead. "You my love, worry far too much, you'll turn into Molly if you're not careful" Hermione giggled, and placed a soft had against the blonde's cheek,
"And you my darling wife are still just as cheeky as you have ever been". The two women smiled lovingly at each other, "Come on, let's go find that troublesome son or ours, Draco will be-"
"Hellllloooooo, anyone home?" The sound of Scorpius's thundering up the stairs towards Lucas's room could be heard. Astoria called after him
"Scorpie don't run, walk please!" Hermione rolled her eyes
"They're early"
"First time for everything" Narcissa replied.
"Shame…I was so hoping to ravage that's beautiful body of yours" Hermione smirked,
"Ha! I bet you were. Now come on before my darling eldest comes looking for us". Kissing the blonde briefly on the lips Hermione turned to leave, not sensing her wife's presence she turned.
"What are you looking at?" Narcissa smiled, a sense of complete bliss overwhelmed her,
"Oh nothing love, just you".
