Authors Note: Gah, this chapter took a while. So here's a long deserved chapter for you guys!
It's been a week since the camping 'experience,' and Janice has finally managed to make Maddie, the cat, finish a course. She's been planning to enter her in a pet show, making a cute sweet appearance and make extra credit on being a Masters. So far Maddie was been able to make back flips, hoop jumps, and speed over water without getting wetting…well except for her paws.
"Janice dear." A sing-song voice sounded from behind. "I'm about to have dinner with our new neighbors, would you care to join?" He was wearing one of his nicer suits, which was the suit that seemed two shades darker then the rest.
"We have neighbors?" Janice raised a sweaty brow.
"Yes, now go freshen up and change if you would like to meet them." Vlad snapped his fingers.
Rolling her eyes, Janice picked up the cat, leaving the butler ghost to clean up the course she set up. Once inside her room, she sat Maddie down on the bed to get something to wear. Pressing a finger to her lips, she scanned her 'Dinning Wear' wardrobe, one of hundreds, looking for what to wear. Trying to think, she finally remembered something; who the new neighbors were, the Fenton's! Laughing at the thought of dinning with them, Janice pulled white collar button up with long sleeves, and dark black skinny jeans with white horizontal stripes on the upper front legs. Turning around she opened her 'Under Garments' drawer pulling out a matching set of white floral pattern set. Opening another drawer she pulled out a simple black tank-top. "Time for a bath Maddie." The feline looked terrified.
Finally getting down stairs, Janice wore her chosen clothing with top her top not fully buttoned, showing her cleavage and tank-top.
"Must you dress in such ways?" Vlad twitched in distaste.
"It was this or, a skirt so high it would show why Kwan is so into me." Janice teased in mischief.
"I should have left you for dead," Vlad rubbed his left temple with his free hand, the other was occupied holding a bundt cake. "very well then lets be off, we spent too much time dilly-dallying already." He walked out the door leaving Janice behind.
Before Janice could walk out the door, her left back pocket was vibrating. Pulling out the compact, she opened it to find a text on the mirror: Remember to keep our secret from Daniel - CW. Smiling, Janice placed the object back into her pocket. Time to meet the neighbors.
"So Valdy, how's it like being a father?" Jack smiled with a full mouth, swallowing he added. "Not all that's cracked up to be, now is it?"
Vlad rolled his eyes, that oaf never learned true table manners. "It's been a bumpy road on the highway, but I am getting the hang of it." He responded with a fake smile.
The Fenton's dinning room had a long rectangle table meant for twenty, a crystal shingle hanging overhead, and decorations across each wall. They seated in the center of the table as if, if they were seated at the corners they would have trouble passing around the dishes of food. The adults seat at one side the table while the teens sat at the other side, with Vlad facing Janice, Maddie facing Jazz, and Jack facing Danny.
"So Janice dear, how's life?" Maddie asked sweetly, ignore the two men at each of her sides. "Is Vlad treating you alright?"
"Um yeah, living with Vlad is alright, but I could use a little freedom." Janice shrugged. "Too many rules around the house, its like if he thinks I make one wrong turn I'll end up in the hospital or something." She picked at her fancy looking meal.
"Oh," Maddie seemed surprised. "I never imagined you to be the protective type, Vlad." She turned to her left.
"Oh Maddie," He sighed, "I can be many things." smirking he took a sip from his wine.
Danny gawked in disgust at the sight before him, how can his dad not see Vlad hitting on his mom? Turning around he watched Janice poke at, what he thought, her mashed potatoes. Can this girl be Vlad's new evil henchmen? He never saw Vlad the type to suddenly adopt a girl, no matter what the reason was. His ghost powers didn't go off around her, so she was human, but then again she could be a halfa. Maybe another clone? All of this thinking failed him to notice that Janice was staring back at him.
"Hey," Janice frowned. "do I got something on my face or something?"
Blinking Danny looked down with a flushed face. How stupid of him to be caught staring, and in front of his family! They might start thinking he had a crush on her or something. "N-Nothing." He barely managed to get out.
"Want to checkout my latest gadget Vlad-o?" Jack grinned holding out a round object with a graphed screen. "I call it the Deinvso Fenton 2 thousand, it makes invisible ghost visible, and detects them too!" He stated with much childish pride. "Check it!" He pressed a button on the side making the machine making, rather loud, noises.
"Two visible ghosts detected on your far left and front, thank you for using the Deinvso!" A feminine voice chimed from the device.
"That's weird," Jack looked puzzle, "could have sworn I put new batteries in the thing." He slammed the handful of disappointment on the table, as if the damage would cause the item to work.
The two halvas gave out relieved sigh then glared at each other. One of them gained a 'no go for ghost' to the girl next to them.
"Oh, I'll have a look at it later dear," Maddie smiled, "now look at the time, I'm guessing you two will be leaving?"
Vlad frowned not wanting to leave, then thought of a brilliant, or stupid, idea. "I was thinking Madeline, how about we let a children have some bonding time, let them become friends." He tried his sweetest smile for his sweetest Maddie.
Pressing her lips she pondered at the thought, she didn't trust Vlad anymore, but what harm would happen to make the kids become friends?
Taking it as a chance to see if the girl is spy or not, Danny piped up. "Hey mom, how's about me and Janice go to my room to play videogames?" He began to make his best puppy eyes. "Please?" He stretched out the 'e' greatly.
"Hmmm," Maddie thoughtfully tapped her chin. "I don't see why not." She beamed at her one and only son.
"Yes!" Danny fist pumped the air in victory, now time to investigate. He grabbed Janice hand pulling her to the elevator.
"Well someone's eager to make new friend." Jazz cocked her head, was her brother planning something?
"I guess someone's got a new love interest." Jack grinned, which caused Vlad to frown deeply. "Though I wonder whatever happened to…um…Waz was it?"
"Sam dad, her name is Sam." Jazz corrected.
Will Danny find out Janice's secret? Or can Janice make a lie so convincing that he'll stop suspecting? Find out in the next chapter!
