This was impossible, John knew he had thrown it away. It had been so long ago, but he recognized every cringe worthy sentence. John was completely at a loss, all he could do was stare at it.

"Shame it doesn't have a name isn't it? They'll never know how much it meant to me..." Dave had sat down next to John, looking over his shoulder to re-read the letter.

"You... actually really like it?" John was too confused.

"Huh, of course I did, don't you? It's just... I dunno... so sincere." Dave looked away, did John think he was silly for liking it so much?

"...I... I'm glad you like it... I just..." John couldn't get the words out. He had hated this letter back then, he was still embarrassed by it now, yet Dave loved it. Somehow John had helped Dave before they had even met. He had no idea how though, he threw the letter away and returned the sunglasses, didn't he? It was so long ago, but no matter what, he knew he hadn't actually mailed it.

"Whats wrong, you look like someone just punched you in gut, stole all your money then used your money to buy drugs for a minor." Dave raised an eyebrow at John.

"I, Um... I know why it wasn't signed." John managed to mumble out.

"You do? How?" Dave leaned back a little to look at John properly.

"This... letter it wasn't supposed to be sent."

"What do mean?"

"Dave... I'm the one who wrote this...but I threw it away. I swear I threw this note away and returned those glasses, I don't know why or how you got them." John spoke the truth, what would Dave think of him now?

Dave was quiet for a moment, his eyes hidden behind the glasses, they tortured John. John's heart hammered in his chest, would Dave still like the letter as much as he did? "Wow... it's like fate has destined us to be together!" Dave exclaimed bringing his hand to his heart dramatically.

John did his best to hide his flushed face. "You're joking right?" John tried to laugh it off.

"The destiny part, yes." Dave took off his glasses to look John in the eyes. "I do find it amazing that you actually wrote this and that you apparently never sent it...but honestly I don't care if you didn't mean to give it to me. It's still means a lot to me, so... thank you John. It seems you just keep on saving me...Seriously, thank you... would it be awkward to hug you?" Dave hated being emotional in front of people, but he could feel his voice wavering. He couldn't stop thinking about how much John had done for him, even without realizing it. Dave had always vowed to somehow become best friends with however wrote that letter, he figured that if someone out there cared that much about him, then he had to be worth something. To find out that it had been John, the boy he might have accidentally fallen in love with, Dave could've died a happy man on the spot. It just seemed too good to be real, to know how much John cared about him. Dave had already figured that John cared quite a bit from the whole Gamzee incident, but this letter added a whole new depth to that. John had cared this much before he had even met Dave. John had saved his life before they'd even said hello.

"...I don't think it would be too awkward..." John couldn't look Dave in the eyes, he realized he preferred looking at Dave's glasses, it made him blush knowing that Dave was actually watching his every move. Dave responded to John's answer by scooting closer and wrapping his arms around John's neck, pulling him into a tight embrace. John's face became even redder as he gently hugged Dave around the waist. John's face was tickled by the soft blonde hair, he breathed and smelled sweet cider mixed with vanilla. Dave's breath slid down his neck and past his collar bone, the thin fingers just barely touching John's skin. He could swear he was about to suffocate from it all, yet he wanted to stay in Dave's arms forever. Dave's face was perfectly nuzzled into John's neck, it felt like home to him. The slight scent of cakes, flour, and butter made Dave pull John closer. He wanted to take this opportunity to get as much physical contact as possible. The overwhelming urge to kiss John's neck was taking over Dave's thoughts. He moved a little closer, preparing to make a move, but at the last moment common sense slapped him dead in the face. Dave pulled back, ending the almost disastrous hug.

"Thank you John... I don't where I'd be right now if it wasn't for you." Dave slipped his sunglasses on, so John wouldn't notice that he couldn't look him in the eyes. John's face was as red as Dave's eyes, but Dave didn't notice.

"It's... uh... no problem Dave. I'm really glad I helped you, I'm glad... that you're here now." John smiled meekly hoping his cheeks would stop their involuntary flush.

"What time is it..." Dave leaned over to look at his alarm clock. "4am... holy shit."

"Wait! Really!?" John turned to the LED lights. 4:45 shined brightly.

"We better get to bed..." Dave secretly hoped John would say something cute like 'I'm too tired to make it to the couch can you carry me there?' Or even better yet 'Do I really have to sleep out there, can't I sleep in here?' Dave almost grinned at the mere thought. John sleeping in the same bed as him, he would wait till John was asleep and then carefully wrap his arms around him. It would be so perfect. Unfortunately though, those were just empty hopes and dreams.

"Yeah... I'll leave you alone now. Goodnight Dave." John got up from the bed and left the room.

"Goodnight John."

Fuck. Dave wanted to kiss him. Dave was severely disappointed in himself, he had seriously fallen for a straight guy. Someone who trusts him and has no idea Dave wants to slam him on a bed and make their friendship X rated. Dave could do nothing, but shove his face in a pillow and scream. He was now a typical teenage girl who desperately wants the most popular guy to notice her, but she just keeps making a fool of herself in front of him. The only difference between him and that teenage girl, is that Dave won't get the guy in the end. Sooner or later John will realize how Dave feels and John will never talk to him normally again. Another scream is absorbed into the pillow.

John laid on the couch, rubbing his neck where Dave's breath had touched him. He wanted to go back into Dave's room and hug him again, anything to bring that feeling back. John scowled, Dave wasn't single, he need to stop. No matter what, he needed to stop this. He couldn't feel this way about Dave, it wasn't right. How could he stop it though? It's not like he could just stop talking to Dave, he was already in too deep to run now. He sighed letting his hand lay on his stomach. Maybe... just maybe it would be alright if he liked Dave, he just had to never act on it. He just had to remember that. Never act on it.
