Chapter Twenty-One

Formal Dinner and Surprise: Contains Mature Themes

"I wasn't expecting anything so formal," I spoke from the vanity in my bedroom of my apartment as Emily did my hair. I couldn't figure out what to do with the ebony curls that grew from my head, and Emily seemed to have a better idea than I did.

JJ was in my closet going through my vast collection of jewelry, trying to find something to go along with her deep red dress. She was beautiful in her long gown, her blonde hair pulled back from her face, thanks to the updo Emily did for her. It hugged to her body beautiful, but wasn't too tight to where it was distasteful. Emily's was a strapless emerald green dress that brought out her dark eyes. Her long brown hair curled back, complimenting her dress beautifully.

"Eh, it's Penelope." JJ spoke from the closet door, as she placed a small pair if diamonds to her ears. "She likes to throw big parties any chance she gets, same with David. I'm surprised Dave is having this at his house."

"Will it just be us?" I asked

Emily shrugged "I believe Derek's family will be there, and some friends from the BAU. But not something big?"

I nodded my head and stood from the chair as Emily took a step back. My hair was braided into a halo on my head, with some girls framing my face slightly. I smiled brightly as inspected the hair.

"My god, Emily. It's amazing. Thank you!" I spoke happily

"You're more than welcome." She smiled, moving to take a seat on the end of my bed.

I stood up from the vanity bench and move the ends of my midnight dark dress across the floor, loving how it curved against my body perfectly. It was a dress I'd kept for years, but never had a event to wear it to. I moved back towards my mirror to check the back of my dress, making sure the open back was just right, and the zipper hadn't moved more than the place I locked it in.

"Are we ready?" JJ asked with a smile on her face, looking down towards her phone "The boys are downstairs with the car,"

I nodded my head "I am, let's go."

Grabbing our bags and clutches, the girls and I made our ways out of my apartment and down towards the first floor where the men were waiting for us. Since everything that had happened, I hadn't been able to sell my apartment or even make moves towards doing so. But it seemed to come in handy for us to be able to get ready for Derek's birthday party that Penelope was throwing tonight. I wrapped my arm through JJ's as we walked towards the parked cars that were waiting for us. Three towncars waited for us, I walked towards the back one where Spencer was waiting for me. I smiled towards him as I neared him, a wide smile across his beautiful face as I walked to him.

"Wow," Spencer gushed as I finally reached him "You look beautiful"

"Thank you" I stepped forward, loving the fact I was to his height now thanks to the heels I was wearing thanks to the dress "I love how you match, I feel like I'm going to prom or something….well, what I would've thought to be prom."

"England doesn't have proms?" Spencer asked,a slightly confused look on his face.

I laugh and shake my head "I wasn't asked, my love."

"Thats ok, I wasn't either" He spoke shyly "And I was too shy to ask anyone out. Kinda hard when you're the only 12 year old in your senior class"

I pressed a kiss to his lips, before he stepped to the side and opened the door for me, before walking around and getting in on the other side. The car moved forward towards David's house, I moved closer to Spencer's side, crossing my legs before his hand rested on the top of my thigh.

"You really do look beautiful, Shai..n-not that you don't look beautiful every day. Because you do," Spencer began to ramble "Just that you look...I…"

I giggled slightly "I love how I can still make you ramble after all this time."

Spencer blushed lightly "Really? I hate it sometimes, feel like I sound like an idiot"

I shook my head slowly as he stared down towards me, my head resting against the back of the seat "If there is one thing you aren't, Spencer Reid, and that's an idiot."

He smiled slightly, before tilting my chin up slightly with his finger, before he kissed me again. My hand moved up to run my fingers through his hair, gripping it tightly, as our lips pressed hard against each other. Spencer's hand moved down my side, turning my body more towards him as he pulled me closer to him. I giggled lightly as we pulled back from each other.

"Alright, now I really feel like we're headed off to prom," I laughed lightly, tugging his hair behind his ear, taming it down from the rough hold I had on it.

Spencer laughed and pulled back from me slightly "We can treat it lightly that. Our own prom, or…something like that. I'm sure Penelope's gone through great troubles with Derek's party. She usually does."

"Does she do this for all of you?"

"I don't really let her, I'm not a fan of birthdays. But she and the girls go on long trips for each other's birthdays. David and Hotch go along the same routine as me. So, Derek gets the big party at the end of it" Spencer explained "But secretly I think he likes it."

When I first saw David's house, the gasp that I wanted to hold back came forth, shocked by the sheer size of it. This home compared to Spencer's apartment was amazing. Spencer's apartment might as well be a room inside Davids home. The town car stopped right outside the door, and the two of us walked towards the front of of the home, Spencer's arm around my waist, guiding me towards the front door. As we walked through the door, Penelope waited with a smile, and wine on a tray.

"Welcome beautiful colleagues" She spoke, before turning towards me "And beautiful girlfriends. Welcome to the celebration of life for the Derek Morgan. Eat. Drink. and be very Merry"

"I can get with that," Will, JJs boyfriend, spoke as he stepped forward and took the wine glass from the tray Penelope hold. We all formed a line and took one, before walking through the front foyer and towards the main part of the home.

I walked while holding Spencer's hand and looked around the home in amazement of the extent that Penelope had gone through for Derek. Spencer and I walked towards a table that had our placecards sitting beside each other. I tucked my dress beneath me, before setting my wine glass down, Penelope moving to sit beside us.

"This is beautiful, Garcia." I smiled towards her as everyone else around us began to take their seats.

"Thanks darling, last years theme was 007. The men had to come dressed as some sort of James Bond, it was awesome"

I laughed lightly "It sounds like it. I love big parties like this," And turned towards Spencer "And who did you dress like?"

"I have no idea. Not really a James Bond sort of person," He explained "Derek gave me a white suit and I just showed up"

"I need to see photos" I spoke towards Garcia, and she nodded, as the food was served to us.

The tables were filled with light conversation, looking over and seeing Derek sitting with whom I assumed was his family. I held onto Spencer's hand the entire dinner, loving for once that we weren't sitting at home and wallowing in the fact of what had happened to me three months ago. I could feel the two of us going back to how we were before.

My arms were wrapped my arms around his neck as we swayed back and forth together, thanks to the soft jazz music that David had put on only a few minutes ago. My head was resting on his chest, listening as his heart seemed to go along with the same beat as the music. A faint smile was on my lips, eyes closed, as I felt the safety of being in Spencer's arms wrap around me.

"Tonight was amazing. I had fun, did you?" Spencer spoke to me softly

I nodded my head "I know it's Derek's birthday and what not. But we needed something like this,"

"I agree" He sighed softly, pulling me closer to his chest, my arms growing a little tighter around his neck "Have you given thought about going to your Nana's for vacation together?"

I pulled back slightly to look up towards him "I think we should do it. Did you ask Hotch about when you could go?"

"He's giving me the rest of the week and next week off," He explained "We could leave tomorrow or the day after?"

I smiled towards him, nodding my head slowly "We can do that"

Spencer bent down to kiss my lips lightly, before it soon turned into something deeper. I moaned against his lips lightly, as his grip on my hips grew slightly tighter. I giggled against his lips as we stumbled back slightly, before righting ourselves.

"I think we've both had too much to drink" I laughed lightly

"I'm going to second that notion." Spencer chuckled lightly "Let's head home?"

~{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}~

I walked up the narrow staircase, holding the end of my dress as I stumbled slightly at the top of the staircase. A laugh left my lips as I grabbed to the back of Spencer's coat to catch myself. Spencer turned around and took my hand, leading me down the hall towards his apartment door. Already on the other side, I could hear Amelia meowing loudly.

"This is why I don't drink, I'm a light weight" I giggled lightly

Spencer unlocked the door "I wouldn't say you're drunk, but you're surely tipsy. I will say that with agreeance."

I hummed lightly and walked in after him into the apartment, before shutting the door behind me. Amelia moved across the bottom of my dress, rubbing her body against my side, before meowing up towards Spencer.

"I'm going to feed her, and then we can calm down from the night?" Spencer spoke, walking towards the kitchen where Amelia's empty cat bowl awaited.

Walking towards the bedroom, I pulled the long side zipper down , before dropping the dress to the ground. I picked it up carefully, before throwing it on the back of the chair that sat in the back corner of the room. I stood in front of the mirror on the back of Spencer's closet door and looked at myself.

The buries were gone. My ribs were healed. I was thankful there weren't scars left behind, well, visible scars. I turned to my side and examined just how much my body had changed since everything. I was skinny, too skinny. No longer having the soft curves I once possessed. I knew it was the fact that I was stressed, and when I'm stressed, I don't eat. I ran a finger under my breasts as I saw the tops of my ribs poke out slightly, frowning as I felt the rivets of each rib.

When I looked back up, I saw Spencer standing directly behind me, his face was hard to read, as he moved to place a small kiss on the top of my shoulder. His hands spanned across my waist and pulled me back towards him, sighing softly, as I stood there in his arms.

"What are you doing?" He whispered softly

"I was...um...getting changed" I spoke softly, my cheeks flushing with a small hint of embarrassment "I'm too skinny"

The last part came out as a small whisper, and I felt Spencer turn me around in his arms, turning my eyes away from the view of my eyes. I could feel his arms moving down my side, looking me over as I stood before him in only my purple laced boyshorts. First his lips placed at the curve of my neck before moving upwards. My hands reached out and gripped the front of his jacket, before pushing it off his shoulders. It fell with an almost silent thud to the ground, as Spencer's hand gripped the bottoms of my thighs and picked me up, before wrapping my legs around his waist.

I smiled down towards him, before pressing a kiss to his lips, as he carried me over towards the bed. My back rested against the soft sheets of Spencer's bed, our lips never moving from each other, as my hands moved towards his dress shirt to unbutton it. The joined his jacket on the floor, along with his pants and undershirt. Our hands lightly traced over each other's body.

"You're so beautiful," Spencer whispered softly, lying beside me as the palm of his hand spanned over my midsection, before palming my breasts softly. "Is this ok?"

I closed my eyes and nodded my head, before looking towards him, running the back of my fingers across his jaw. My heart was beating wildly, but I knew it wasn't from fear, or terror. It was like finally my body was registering the fact this it was Spencer, and that he wasn't going to hurt me, Ever.

"I love you, so much" I whispered softly, my lips turning up with a smile

"I love you too," Spencer bent down and kiss me softly, as he slowly pulled my boyshorts down and away.

My hand reached up and gripped the back of his head, fisting his curls in my hands, as I felt him grip my right leg and throw it over his waist slightly; opening myself for him. My eyes remained closed, with my forehead pressed against his, as Spencer slowly began to enter me, his grip on my waist sturdy as he slowly moved into me, before he was pressed into me deeply. I froze for a moment, and reached down to grab his hand, before I brought it back up to my chest, resting our conjoined hands over my heart. He whispered softly in my ear, calming me slowly, and not moving between my legs at all. I was able to calm my body down enough, to open my eyes, and look up towards him. The moment my blue eyes met his brown, all I saw was love and understanding.

"I'm okay," My voice sounded sincere as I spoke, spanning our hands out over my chest "I'm okay"

"Okay" Spencer spoke softly, before pressing a kiss to my forehead, before slowly moving between my legs. A soft moan left my lips as I felt him stretch me slowly, my arousal peeking quickly.

Spencer's lips pressed against my ear as we slowly moved against each other, my hips pressing back against him. Our moans mingled together within the room, our hands continuing to move against each other's bodies as a soft sheen of sweat formed. His hands grabbed at my waist, before pulling me above him, my legs straddling his waist. I bent down and kissed him he guided my hips to ride against him. Our kiss was broken at moments from our moans, and gasps, before conjoining again.

I sat back against his waist, my hips still moving down against him, feeling my orgasm build quickly. My moans grew louder, as my heart beat against my chest, and breath became more laboured. I could feel Spencer's hand move up my body, moving from my stomach and cupping my breast in his hand, rubbing the pad of his thumb against my nipple.

"Feel so good, Shai," Spencer moaned softly, biting his lower lip as his voice cracked slightly. HIs cheeks flushed and brows knit tightly, letting me know that he was close also.

Bending down forward, I pressed a kiss to the edge of his jaw, before pulling back slightly, and seeing his brown eyes looking up towards me. Darkened from the intensity of his arousal. I felt his hands grab at my back, pulling me closer to him. My face buried into his neck as I tried to muffle the loud scream of his name that left my lips as I felt my walls tighten around him, before slowly beginning to milk him. My hips jerked against his, before I felt him spill inside me. Spencer's head fell back against the pillows, as we both eased down from our climax.

I stayed there in his arms, my chest flush against his, with my head resting on his shoulder. My hair was swept away from my back as his fingers slowly traced up and down my spine. Spencer turned his head to look towards me, before kissing me on the lips. A light feather of a kiss that sent a small chill down my spine.

"I've forgotten how amazing that feels with you," I whispered softly as we pulled away from each other, still conjoined, as I laid across him "How amazing you make me feel,"

Spencer nodded his head "Me too,"

"Thank you for...being patient" I spoke "For understanding...I don't think any other man would've been as supportive as you've been for me, Spencer."

"I'll always be here for you. Even if you never wanted to be with me, I'm still going to be here." Spencer declared, his eyes never moving from mine "I love you Shailene, and that's never going to change. You own me."

I sniffled lightly, as tears seemed to form with his words "You have no idea how much that means to me, love"

Spencer moved forward to kiss me "I knew if you were there with me after I'd been found, and going through everything because of Tobias, you'd do the same?"

I nodded my head "I would. I would have been there for you Spencer. I'm so sorry that happened to you,"

"And I'm sorry about you," He spoke quickly after me

Spencer moved to lay be on my side, before sitting up and grabbed his comforter, and pulling it over our bodies. I snuggled close to him the moment he was lying down beside me. Our bodies becoming flush against each other, my head resting on his chest. We laid there in silence as exhaustion took over our bodies, and we fell asleep in each other's arms.

AN: Shailene's dress and hairstyles are posting on my profile. I wasn't planning a love scene at all, but then, I thought that Spencer and Shai were ready for that. And wanted to have a chapter that celebrated something, so that's why there's a party involved. Pamper them a little, ya know? Let me know what you think. I love the long chapters, and seeing the familiar names with each other. This is my first story where I get more than "Great Job" and my readers actually interact with me. Thank you so much.

~{Reader's Q&A}~

Wabi-sabi1090: Thank you! I like the fact that people see Spencer and Shai as a real couple, even though that are fiction. I have invested a lot in the creation of Shai. I've been working on this story a long time, and like the fact that my work is creating something believable and depicting something that people can relate to or want. And I want Matthew, so we might have to fight each other over him. Lol.

Cupcake: You do rock, cause you review for every chapter. That makes you #1 in my book. I feel like Spencer and Shai are connected. Sort of the opposite sex of the other. Same interests, wants, and devotion to one each other are similar - along with the things that make them different from each other. So to me, it made sense that Shai would "experience" what Spencer went through. Ya know? And a romantic vacation is coming up, it's going to lead us into the end of his story and open something else for them to lead into the part two. Which I hope people read, because I have a hard time getting people to read sequels for some reason. Idk? Haha. And thank you for liking Amelia. I thought Shai needed a sophisticated looking pet.

Sue1313: I am have many plans for Shai for her next steps, and so far, doesn't involve a bookstore of any sort. I feel that chapter in her life will close, and she will move towards something that will be better for her, but - will still involve a book of some sorts.
