Chapter 20: Interlude: Saffir Revives, The Birth of the Death Knight
"Bring him in, Thanatos." Persephone instructed.
"At once, My Lady." Thanatos replied and escorted Saffir into the throne room.
"Persephone-sama." Saffir was on one knee.
"I knew I made a good choice." The Queen of the Underworld smiled wisely, as she gave the kneeling Saffir a critical look. "It should've been you my daughter took as a lover. Now, let's get back to why I summoned you here. Is it not true that you had pledged your allegiance to my daughter when you were in the living?"
"It is true." Saffir replied.
"Good," Persephone nodded. "Then, if given a second chance, would you swear upon the River Styx, to lay down your life once again to protect my daughter?"
"This, I swear, by the River Styx, I will." Saffir answered.
"Very well." Persephone nodded again. "You shall now receive your second chance. You are henceforth, no longer Saffir of the Black Moon, but the Death Knight, Griffon Vermeer; my daughter's champion. The Frostmourne runesword is now yours to wield."
His hand closed around the sword's hilt, an icy whirlwind of power swirled around Saffir as he donned on the full armor of the Death Knight, the Plate of the Damned and the Helm of Domination.
