CHAPTER 20
Time was almost up. An hour had almost passed, and it was time for the flight to leave. The children were accounted for and snuggled close to their mothers and the pigmas lead the way, weary and upset but composed none the less. They walked quietly towards the town. No one made a peep, no one cried and no one complained. They all knew very well what was going to happen, so they simply indulged in one another's company.
As they passed through the town, it was very clear to the flight that the humans could now sense the impending doom that was soon to befall them. Chaos swept the small town like a broom to a wood floor. Children were crying, women were screaming for their husbands return and men were getting ready for a fight. The dragons one by one bowed their heads in apology as they passed through. They knew it was somewhat their fault that this was happening, so they bowed, unable to look at the people they have affected. Some of the sians even covered their heads with the hood of their cloaks, not wanting to show their faces. After a while everyone had their hood up and was making a faster pace through the town to the forest. They just couldn't stand to see those sad faces any longer. They tried to get out of there as fast as they could, but once they reached the town's center something unexpected happened.
"Hey! All of you should be in the church awaiting orders! What are you doing out here?!" a large man about the size of Himuro clasped Aomine's shoulder and spun him around, making his hood fall off his head. The man's eyes widened and he stepped back in fright. He looked directly at the markings of scales Aomine had on his face and pointed a shaky finger at him.
"y-y-you! A DRAGON! THE DRAGONS ARE He-!"
Before the man could scream any more Aomine covered his mouth and whispered in his ear.
"If you don't want me to fucking break your neck, I suggest that you pretend this never happened…do you hear me?" the man quickly nodded his head and Aomine let him go. The man ran scared into the church probably crapping his pants and crying. Aomine smirked slightly at the thought then went back to a serious face. He faced forward and through his hood back on. Thus began his march into the forest with his flight fallowing in perfect stead.
When Aomine reached the edge of the forest he stopped and looked to his flight. He had no words to say to them, the only thing he did was make sure that everyone was prepared for battle. From the glitter in everyone's eyes he could tell that they were, so he continued.
There was a sudden change in atmosphere when they stepped foot beyond the tree line. It was deadly and sinister and ran a shiver down everyone's spine. The trees seemed weighed down by the pressure of the aura and all the animals were suffering. It was also a little too much for the little ones as well because within a few minutes into the forest, Taiki, Setsu, and Kima started coughing and crying. Yukio was the first to respond to the crying children. He knelt down to the twins and wiped the tears off their cheeks.
"Now boys, you can't cry anymore ok? Things are only going to get worse and you gotta be brave for Taiki, look he's crying!" the twins looked up to Kagami who was struggling to calm down Taiki. Kima puffed his chest, wiped his tears and grabbed his brother's hand. Kise looked down to his hatchling and put a hand on his shoulder, proud that his son could be so brave.
"Hey I hate to interrupt your moment here but we need to get moving." Aomine spat as he continued on his way. Others hesitantly fallowed giving slight glances at Kagami's crying infant. It was dangerous in this situation to have such noise impale the air. Kagami knew this and was nearly panicking trying to calm the poor hatchling down, but the panic made it worse and Taiki cried harder. It was then that Aomine had had enough. He again stopped in his tracks and turned heel, walking back to his mate with heavy footsteps. He stopped in front of him and took a deep breath in then exhaled.
"Give Taiki to me; ill protect him from the aura for now. Just be ready to take him back ok?" Kagami was a little taken aback by the sudden request but being quiet was essential right now and Kagami could use all the help he could get. He smoothly placed Taiki in his father's arms and was extremely surprised when the hatchling stopped crying. He watched in shock as Aomine left his side and walked back up to the front were Midorima and Akashi were waiting for him.
They continued.
Quietly.
Stiffly.
Alert.
At any moment Ubel could pop out and kill them, at least that's what the feeling was as they entered a clearing.
A feeling, or rather a voice came crawling up and into Akashi's ears. It was quiet, almost muted but was eerily familiar. Akashi, on a whim, looked up to the sky only to see Ubel looming overhead. At first he thought it was an illusion but after blinking a few times he decided that 'yes, Ubel is there' and took a defensive stance, alerting Aomine of the danger that was literally right above their heads.
Ubel shot down lake an arrow and crashed into the ground, causing dust to kick up and making him momentarily invisible.
The dust cleared.
Ubel stood meters away from the flight with his two little lackeys holding Takao hostage.
Ubel walked closer but stopped when he got close enough to have a normal talk.
Aomine and Akashi did the same, again only close enough to talk normal. In a sarcastic, rude voice Ubel spoke.
"Awe Akashi, how I've missed you so… (smiles)…so what brings you here today?" before Akashi or Aomine could yell at this man, Midorima lost his cool.
"you know exactly why we're here! You kidnapped my mate AND CHILD!" the green haired man was restrained by Murasakibara as he struggled to kill the man. Ubel lifted an eyebrow then snapped his fingers. With the sound, Hanamiya let go of Takao.
"Oh, that right" Ubel said "I only used him to get you all here...all of you…1,2,3,4, 16!?…hmm…that's more people than I expected…has your flight expanded Akashi kun?" Akashi smirked and jabbed a thumb at papa Aomine grumpily handing his son back to his lover.
"in not alpha anymore Ubel…this ball of muscle over here is! You might want to take this up with him…" Ubel growled in fury and flew back up into the sky.
"I DON'T CARE! I promised I would kill you if I ever got out, AND TODAY IS THAT DAY! PREPARE FOR YOUR DIMISE AKASHI!"
