~Chapter 20: A New Power?~

A frightening scream that frankly scared the shit out of me and suddenly I found myself on the bedroom floor. I looked to my left to see Krystal tossing and turning and acting immediately. I grabbed her gently by the shoulders and she opened her eyes, there was fear at first then it was replaced by recognition. She quickly buried her head in my chest and cried while a comforted her. After I began rubbing her back in circles, I said, "Bad dream?"

"More like a nightmare." She replied after lifting her head up. Running a hand through her dark brown locks, I took that chance to kiss her forehead. Before I could get another word out, she said that she didn't want to talk about it. She glanced out of the window and could see that the sun was setting. "I've slept all day!"

"It's actually been two days."I corrected her.

"TWO DAYS!"

I began to explain, "The fights took their toll on you Krystal. Well mostly on your back, but it's healed pretty well by the way. Mother Earth also provided you with a brand new scythe." Krystal's eyes widened in surprise and wonder, her mouth forming an o-shape.

"R-really? No wonder why the old one never showed, although I couldn't wield it at the time because of the dark spell or whatever…" Krystal sighed and picked up a small card on the side of bed resting on a nightstand. "Well, Katelyn's hanging out with both our families at some picnic and we weren't invited." A frown appeared on her face.

"They would rather you be well rested than tired." A smirk and a second later I said, "Since you're up…" I trailed off and Krystal sent me a confused look. I immediately captured her lips my own. I've missed her so much, it really does make me worry constantly about her safety every time she goes somewhere or when I'm not around. Things started to get a little hot and heavy and I ended up on the floor sitting with my back against the wall. We broke off another long passionate kiss for air. "I hate when you leave my side," I kissed her forehead again. "It gets lonesome you know."

"I know, but as much as I don't want to…I don't have a choice. It's the same with you your royal duties right?" She smile faltered but I could tell something else was troubling her. "Do you…Do you think we'll win? Can we do this? I was just—"I cut her off with a soft kiss to her lips.

"Hey, everything's gonna be fine. You came out in the end after killing Damon and saving us all from a death meteor. No one else could've done that but you." I said in a comforting tone and her smile brightened a little but I could still see the worry in her chocolate irises. I tilted her chin up gently and started kissing her soft lips. "I'll kiss you until you no longer feel scared." I pulled to her into a warm embrace and placed soft kisses along her collar bone. Even though I so desperately wanted to drink her blood, I heard her moan softly, I chuckled satisfied at her reaction and was on the verge on doing more when her stomach growled loudly. Krystal stood up , embarrassment written all over her face along with a cherry red blush and dashed off to the bathroom. I raised an eyebrow and slightly frowned at the ruined moment not knowing that I spaced out for a while.

The strong intoxicating scent of her blood hit me. A chilling laugh was heard throughout the entire room. I swear it sounded like— I immediately kicked open the doors to the bathroom to find nothing but a white room with a large mirror and blood. My eyes narrowed as they turned red in the next second. I blinked once and in front of me stood Shizuka Hio. No, this wasn't possible, she is dead!

I struck my hand through her chest in an instant; there was no resistance from Shizuka at all. She gave a sick twisted smile and then her form was replaced by Krystal's petite one. I immediately pulled my hand out of her chest cavity and stared in shock. I had no idea what the hell just happened. Krystal fell forward as more blood pooled from the horrible injury. Her hands latched onto my arms for support right before she fell to her knees.

The look of fear and betrayal in her eyes broke my heart. Before I could get out a word, Krystal disappeared in the form of golden sparkles. Shizuka's cruel laughter rang all around room, "How does it feel to lose the love of your life?"

My eyes flew open in panic as I woke in cold sweat. A soft hand touched my face, I immediately knew it was Krystal who was calling out my name repeatedly because I had yet to respond. My breathing became normal and out of pure impulse I crushed Krystal in a bear hug.

"Z-zero…ca..n't breath!" She choked out and I quickly released her so she could gather her bearings. I simply rested my head on her shoulder. One of her hands ran through my hair and I closed my eyes and relaxed, glad that she wasn't bleeding or hurt. "What freaked you out so badly?" She mumbled.

Then she let out a yelp of surprise because I just sunk my fangs into her neck like a starving animal who wanted nothing more than to eat everything in sight. For some reason, although I knew I would never hurt Krystal, and I did disregard the scene, it still played through over and over in my head. Soon, I was satisfied and cursed myself for stupidity. I forgot that she hasn't eaten yet.

The wound was clean and there wasn't a trace of blood on her PJ's. "Let's get you something to eat." I said helping her to her feet when I noticed something under her wrist. Turning it over so that the palm of her hand faced upwards, I saw threw dark purple swirls inside a woodwork of circles. "When did you get this?" I ask.

Krystal's eyebrow's furrowed as she tried to remember anything at all that could help. "I-I don't—"The symbol on her hand began to glow purple and the room grew dark, words appeared on the wall in an ancient language that I couldn't begin to understand.

"Um…it says something about facing an enemy…if I want the new scythe." Krystal read out loud. "I wonder who—"

A dark chuckle came from out of nowhere making Krystal jump. A horrified gasp escaped her mouth as we stared at something we didn't expect to see.

I know you all hate me for the shortness of the chapter, but you won't want to miss the next one *evil laugh* Take a guess to whom or what it may be in the reviews. I'll update quicker than last time.
