Chapter 20
Santana POV
Walking into the living room only a few seconds later is like walking into a different time-zone. Brittany was sat on the couch, blanket spread across her lap with one side lifted up, presumably for me, smiling at her phone. Like a complete turn-around from how she was in the kitchen. While it did confuse me, it also didn't. Since meeting Britt, I've learnt that her mood is very capable of doing a full 360 in the space of barely two seconds.
Brittany must sense my presence because she lifts her head, still smiling, and pats the space next to her. "Come cuddle, Sanny."
Raising an eyebrow, I walk over to her but refrain from sitting for a few more seconds. Taking a deep breath, I decide I will go forward with my plan of allowing Brittany to come to me instead of straight out asking her what's going on. "What're you doing?" I ask as I finally sit, and a small smile graces my features when Britt automatically cuddles into my side. I turn my head and take a whiff of the freshly washed hair directly under my nose, kissing the crown of her head.
"Playing Jelly Splash. It's fun," Brittany answers, face screwed in concentration as she focuses intently on the splotches of jelly on the screen.
Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, I squeeze her body lightly before focusing on the television Brittany must have turn on upon entering the living room.
A little while later, when Brittany's done playing her jelly game and the show on T.V. has changed to SpongeBob, the blonde cuddled in my arms looks up towards my face. "What time do you have to go, San?" Britt asks.
Raising my eyebrows, I tease her. "Trying to get rid of me are ya, babe?" Seeing Brittany pout and shake her head, squeezing tighter to me, I wink at her, and take my phone out of my pocket to check the time. "Uh, it's about 11:30 now. So not for another couple hours. Wanna go get lunch?"
Brittany's face visibly lights up. "And can we go see the ducks? You said we would if I let you make breakfast," she says, her face turning serious.
It makes me laugh. "Yes, we can go see the ducks. Anything you want," I tell Britt and lean down to brush a kiss against a pale cheek.
God she smells so good.
"San?"
"Hmm?" I hum out, barely paying attention.
"Are you…smelling me?"
My eyes widen and I pull my face back quickly from where it was so close to her neck. "No!" I quickly defend.
Giggling, Brittany leans forward and pecks my nose, causing me to scrunch it up. "You totally were," she whispers and her warm, minty breath hits my face.
My cheeks flush from embarrassment as I'm unable to deny to accusation with her proximity. So instead I push forward enough to crash our lips together. I feel Brittany whimper into the kiss at the unexpected contact, but quickly kiss back as she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me closer. I wrap my own around her and pull her towards myself, lying back so I can get her on top.
Wanky
We continue to kiss passionately as our bodies rub together, Brittany's length clearly growing in size as our intimate parts push harder and harder together. We both moan loudly.
The sound of a car door slamming loudly breaks us out of our moment and we freeze mid-kiss.
"Is that your…?"
"Parents."
"Are they…?"
"Early."
"We should…"
"Move."
We both quickly move into our previous positions, and after a moment's thought, I throw a pillow into Brittany's lap just as the door opens.
Carter and Susan enter the living room, Brandon following behind and Mr Pierce eyes us cautiously.
"Hi, girls. Did you have a good night?" Mrs Pierce asks us, thankfully completely oblivious to what was clearly going on just a few moments before.
"It was great, mom," Brittany replies, snuggling closer to me, making me smile.
"Brittany, why do you look so warm?" her dad looks suspicious as he continues to eye us both.
"Uh, it's just really warm in here, daddy."
Please bear in mind, it's really not.
"If you were warm, then you wouldn't be wrapped up in a blanket."
Silence overcomes the living room and I begin to feel more and more awkward. The longer the silence continues, the blanker Carters face gets.
"Right," he says a few moments later. "Santana, I think its best you leave now."
As soon as those words escaped his mouth, I feel Brittany tense beside me and she grips my hand. "No," I hear her whisper and direct my attention to her, only to see tears pooling in those gorgeous blue orbs.
"Carter, is there really any need-"
"No, Susan. I was told nothing like that would be happening under my roof. Santana, you assured me it wouldn't. And I trusted you; foolishly it may seem."
"Daddy, we weren't doing anything. We were only kissing," Brittany whispers the last part, her voice sounding sadder by the second.
"Carter, stop being ridiculous. They're teenagers, just leave them alone," Susan ends the conversation and pulls her husband out of the room before he has chance to fit in another word.
As soon as I see them both walk into the kitchen, I turn and wrap my arms tight around Brittany as she squeezes close to me.
"Please don't leave," she whispers against my collarbone and my heart just breaks at the sound.
"I'm not going anywhere, baby," I whisper into her hair, and kiss her forehead.
The clearing of a throat causes me to whip my head around to the sound, however my arms don't move from there placement around my girlfriend. I see Brandon stop in front of us, glaring at me. "'Sup, squirt?"
He continues to glare before turning his attention to Brittany. "Britty, did Santana hurt you? Do I have to hurt her?"
Tilting her head to the side, Brittany answers him with a small smile and a sniffle. "No, Bran, don't worry. I just don't want dad to make her go."
Narrowing his eyes, he looks between us. "You sure?"
"Yes," she assures him. "Now haven't you got some homework to do?"
Brandon laughs rather heartedly for his age, and rolls his eyes. "Don't be ridiculous, Brittany. I had all my homework completed within the first two days in Santa Fe!"
Brittany smiles back at him, and I squeeze her closer. "Why don't you just get out of here then kid?"
His laughter stops abruptly at the sound of my voice and his glare is back. "I'm watching you," he says in a low voice that I didn't think was possible for a boy his age.
I raise an eyebrow as he exits the room. "Seriously, what is his problem?"
Brittany snuggles into my chest again. "He's just being protective. I know he's only 9, but he likes to act like the older sibling a lot. He's always wanting to protect me."
"Yeah, well I'd think it was sweet if he didn't keep glaring at me all the time. It's freaking creepy." I look down at her and catch her gaze twinkling back at me. I smile for a moment before my face turns serious again. "Does he really think I'd hurt you?"
Brittany, not one to lie, just shrugs.
"That's not going to happen," I state firmly and kiss her forehead softly. "I promise," I whisper against her skin and search her pinky with my own, smiling when she links it with hers.
It's not hard to hear Brittany's parents arguing through the wall; Carter isn't even trying to lower his voice. I don't wanna put Britt through this anymore, so I lift my head and ask her, "Wanna go to the park now?"
The blinding smile I get just makes me want to kiss her again. So I do.
Ten minutes later, when I finally got changed and packed all my stuff back into my duffle bag, Britt and I were walking hand in hand towards to duck pond. Brittany's smile hadn't even faltered since leaving her house.
"Baby, why don't you go sit down by the pond and I'll be back in a few minutes."
Furrowing her eyebrows, Brittany tilts her head and asks, "Where are you going, San?"
"I just need to go grab something, I'll be back," I tell her and kiss her cheek quickly before leaving her in that spot.
Walking back over to Brittany a few minutes later, I'm surprised to find her standing in the exact same spot as she was when I left. "Britt?" I say her name to get her attention, and her head snaps up at the sound of my voice. "Why are you just standing there?"
"I was waiting for you. I didn't want you to get lost on the way to the pond," Brittany answers in her oh-so-adorable voice and I can't help the smile that stretches my face at her words.
"Babe, we came to the park like, three weeks ago to see the ducks. I wouldn't get lost," I tell the blonde, taking her hand in mine and leading the way over.
"Ok, but still. I just didn't want you to get lost or thought I'd left you."
"You are too cute." I lean up and kiss the corner of her mouth and Brittany giggles.
We reach the duck pond a few seconds later and I see the way Britt's face lights up when we see the ducks swimming around. She's bouncing around in her place, as we stand about 20 feet from the pond, her eyes shooting around all over the place as she itches to move even closer. It's probably one of the most adorable things I've ever seen. I see her look between me and the pond out of the corner of my eye, and I can't fight the smile that overtakes my face. "Go on!"
With that she's off and kneeling down by the water, leaning so far over I think she just might fall in. So I walk quickly up to her and place a hand on her shoulder to steady her. I hear Brittany talking to the ducks, and the smile is back.
I swear, since meeting Britt, I've smiled more than I ever have in my entire life.
"We really should have brought some bread to give them, San. We didn't bring any last time we came and they're going to start thinking we've stopped loving them," Brittany says, looking up at me seriously through her eyelashes.
Smiling down at her, I reach around for the bag that's hanging off of my shoulder. "Well we can't have that now, can we?" I pull out a loaf of bread and dangle it in front of her. Brittany's face lights up once again and she shoots off the ground, pulling me into a hug and snatching the bread out of my hand.
"Thanks, Sanny!" she squeals into my ear, kissing my cheek repeatedly before I turn my head so she can kiss my lips instead. It's only a small peck, but it's enough to warm me all over.
And with that, Brittany kneels down again and begins pulling the bread out of the bag and into pieces to throw in for the ducks. Seeing her so happy brings my thoughts back to how she was acting earlier this morning.
The fear I saw in Britt's eyes was nothing like I'd seen before, especially with her. It was even different from what I saw the day of our first date when I found out about her penis. Not better, or worse, but different. And it's really worrying me. I don't wanna push her; I said I'd never do that. But if something's going on, I need her to tell me. I just hope she doesn't completely close off from me.
I'm just glad she's happy right now.
"Order whatever you want, babe, it's on me," I say and Britt and I flip through our menus at the little diner we decided to stop at before I had to go back home.
"You sure, San?" Brittany's eyes look up at me and her head tilts to the side cutely.
"Well only one of us is supposed to pay on a date, so…" I trail off with a wink and smirk slightly when I notice the blush on her cheeks.
"Ok," she whispers and tries to concentrate on her menu again.
A waitress comes over to ask for our orders a few minutes later. We both order salads and I make sure to get some shrimp for Britt since I know she really likes it, and despite my telling her she could order whatever she wanted, I knew she wouldn't because she's too considerate.
The cute, shy smile I receive when our food is delivered is totally worth the extra dollars.
Just as we begin eating, the chiming off a phone disturbs us. I know its Brittany's since mine is on silent, so my eyebrows furrow together. Brittany drops her fork onto her plate and takes her phone out of her back pocket, shooting me an apologetic smile before she checks it.
Her eyes shoot around her screen, reading and re-reading the words written multiple times.
"Everything ok, Britt?" I ask to make sure, worried the same thing is happening again.
Snapping her head up like she only just realised I was still sat here, Brittany swallows hard before answering. "Yeah, babe, it's just my dad. He's apologizing, and wants to know when I plan on coming home."
Again, it's not hard to tell she's lying.
Don't push her, Santana; she'll come to you when she's ready. I repeat; Do. Not. Push. Her.
Smiling as best I can, I look back at her. "Ok, if you're sure. What time d'you wanna go back?" I ask, directing the attention away from that text message that very clearly wasn't from her father, judging by the familiar look on her face when she read it.
"Not yet. I don't want you to leave," Brittany looks up at me through her eyelashes as she ducks her head shyly.
I can't help smiling fully again at that, and slide out of my side of my booth to join her on hers. "Ok. How about we just finish eating, and go for a walk or something, yeah?" I ask leaning a little closer to her face.
Brittany nods, and smiles back at me, eyes glancing down to my lips. The question 'can I kiss you now?' is clear in her eyes, so I lift my right hand to cup a pale, lightly freckled cheek and brush our lips together in a soft kiss. We pull apart moments later, and Brittany buries her face in my neck. "You're amazing, Santana," I feel more than hear her mumble against the skin of my neck.
"You are," I whisper back, and kiss her hair. "Now eat your lunch before it gets cold, baby."
Brittany giggles as she pulls her head back and looks at me amused. "It's salad, San. It's not gunna go cold," she continues to giggle.
Winking back at her, I say, "I know. I just wanted to hear that sound again."
Blushing once again, Brittany lowers her head and picks up her fork shyly to stab at some lettuce. I squeeze her side and kiss her temple before turning slightly to drag my own food to this side of the table and eat along with Britt, those text messages temporarily forgotten.
R+R guys! Much love!
