CHAPTER 21: Thinking out loud
Thirty-six. That was the amount of times Caroline had contemplated staking herself. She was sitting in the middle of the best wedding boutique in America next to Bekah. The original Vampire was in what Caroline was sure was her glory. She knew Bekah secretly lived for this kind of stuff, which Caroline was using to her benefit. The thought of planning this wedding amongst her insane work schedule, not to mention her and Nik's sex marathons, made her teeter on the line of mass murder.
"So I think that with my help and the planner this wedding could be pulled off in three months."Bekah said with a hug smile, Caroline obviously not agreeing based on her expression alone.
"That's kind of quick, don't you think?" Caroline said looking at Bekah like she bumped her head
"what's wrong with quick" Bekah asked
"well when you have forever..."Caroline mumbled rolling her eyes
"How long were you two planning on being engaged? " Bekah shriek in disbelief
" it was basically an undetermined amount of time until he allowed his family to step in" Caroline said with a smirk at Bekah
"well you should be lucky to have me" Bekah said
"Absolutely" Caroline said "Here's the deal. I like ivory and gold. I like silk and lace and pearls and crystals. White peonies make me happy. Roses are too cliche. I pick my dress, makeup ect. Have at it"
"Are you giving me control of this? " Bekah asked shocked as Caroline stood to leave.
" Yes but i reserve the right to veto anything and everything. As does Niklaus" Caroline said smiling briefly at her soon to be sister.
"The invitation will be sent to you for pre-approval tonight to be in the mail tomorrow morning" Bekah said hugging Caroline tightly "Thank you for this Care"
Caroline smiled before leaving the boutique, enjoying the fresh air that hit her face until her phone began ringing. She looked down to see Kol's number.
"Kol, what can I do for you? " Caroline asked as she picked up the phone
" Hello to you too dear sister. Care to join your partner in crime for a human style lunch. " she could hear the humor in his time
" Actually yes, I'm famished " Caroline said getting ready to cross the street as a black sports car screeched to a stop in front of her. The window went down to show a smirking Kol in the driver's seat." How did you even know where I was"
"Bekah " Kol said" now get in, I know just the place"
Caroline chuckled as she hopped in the car, Kol speeding off.
They pulled up outside of a shifty looking diner that wreaked of dog. Caroline shook her head, she could have kicked herself for thinking Kol was being anything but.. well... Kol.
"you're idea of having lunch with me is taking me to a werewolf infested shit hole diner?" Caroline asked, disgust clear on her face "this is cute and all but honey, really, I drink blood laced Don Perion for my beverage everyday at lunch. I have standards."
"this is just a pit stop along the way to the fabulous gourmet dining experience we shall have darling.."Kol said" after you help your favorite brother out with his dog problem." he finished with a huge smile
"I am not animal control Kol!" Caroline snapped at Kol, get hybrid face showing for a moment. Compared to Niklaus' freaky hybrid face, Caroline's was always appealing to Kol. The veins that came out were not black instead of red like theirs and her eyes turned black instead of their usual deep blue. She was gorgeous.
"Please" he begged her in a childish voice "I was supposed to do this for Nik but these morons are so hard headed they can't see an opportunity when it's slammed into their faces"
"what exactly does Nik want you to do?" Caroline asked, her interests peaked at her fiancée being mentioned.
"He knows once you two are married, his enemies will become yours. Nik wants to build a hybrid army big enough to defend is against any magnitude of threat." Kol said seriously this time, Caroline looked at him for a few seconds as she absorbed what her brother in law just told her. Which she's sure Nik would not like.
Caroline let out a sigh "Well then, let's go get us an army."
"Fantastic" Kol said, the mischievous glint back in his eyes "I'll be good cop, you hang off for a second behind me and be bad cop"
"whatever you say" Caroline said shaking her head
She leaned against the outside of the building by the door as Kol made his way inside. She listened to how the patrons immediately went to the defense.
"the little idiot is back" one shouted
"original douche" another yelled, that one made Caroline grin
"I'll ask nicely one more time" Kol said in a humored voice
"Oh sod off" she heard a woman yell this time
Caroline closed her eyes and let her other senses take over. By the sound of the heart beats the only human in there was the old register lady. The rest were wolves. A colony almost, she would have to remember to ask Nik how he knew about them. She smiled and turned to open the door walking in and making eye contact immediately with her irritated original brother.
"Oh look he brought a whore to try and sway us" one of the big ones said walking up to her.
Caroline silently looked him up and down and cringed at how dirty he looked. She flicked her wrist and his mouth was sewn shut and he was impaled to the wall by an invisible force. Caroline smiled now, hybrid features on full show.
"what are are you? " one of the female wolves asked
" I am the first witch/vampire hybrid. I am over 700 years older than all of you, I am Niklaus' future wife. That makes me your queen." Caroline said with a smile "Bow" she snapped her fingers and her magic willed everyone but her, Kol and the human to drop to their knees. No one could move to break the hold, Caroline was too strong.
"A perfect match for the beast, forced loyalty and all" one of the women screamed and spit and Caroline
Caroline looked at the wolf, walking to stand in front of her. She smiled.
"My husband is your alpha, all wolves' true alpha. You will respect him and our family. You will all pledge your irrevocable loyalty to my family or you will die here today." Caroline said in the strongest voice Kol has seen her use. He knew she was a force of nature, but seeing her in her new element, as supernatural queen was a whole different experience.
"I will never be loyal to you, whore."the she Wolf said.
Caroline looked at her and smiled. A half a second later the wolf was completely engulfed in flames. Another second and she was dead. Gasps of shock went through the diner.
"would anyone else care to spit in the face of my family's hospitality?" Caroline asked "because unlike other witches, my power never dulls. I could do this all day."
Everyone slowly bowed their heads, the entire room submitted to her. Kol was floored.
"I want each of you to come up here, cut you hand and put a couple of drops of your blood in this cup" Caroline said grabbing a foam to go cup from behind the counter "hurry along I'm starving. You wouldn't want me to suddenly start eating everyone would you?"
The wolves quickly did what she asked, once they all put blood in the cup it was completely full. Caroline bit her hand and dropped one drop of her blood in it then started chanting. After a moment she stopped and drank the entire cup. The wolves cringed, as did she.
"God I forgot how disgusting mutts taste " Caroline complained" now, my new friends, I have complete control over each of you. Cool huh. Well for me anyway"
The wolves looked around at one another, nervous now.
"I want you all at the mikalson estate tomorrow at 4 pm to discuss details with your king. I don't like tardiness" Caroline said with a smile as she turned and left.
Kol smirked as he looked amongst them.
"you lot should have just gone with the good cop"
