Chapter Twenty One: The Turning Point Part I
The next morning Holly stayed in bed looking up at her ceiling. The vampire blood was out of her system. She was still a witch. She was alive. Bonnie was saved. Damon had surprisingly apologize. Then why did she feel like she didn't want to get out of bed? Maybe because she didn't want too.
She just wanted to stay in bed, at least there she didn't have to be worried about being murdered in her sleep or having the burden of being born a witch. Worse, a rare kind of witch according to Grams that could communicate through other witches.
Witches that apparently wanted vampires (and perhaps her family) dead. Holly looked at her alarm clock, it was almost time for school and unless she wanted to get dragged there by Elena, she better get ready.
She brushed her hair into a ponytail and put on a skirt, a dark blue cardigan sweater, and dark boots. Worried, she pulled up her sweater to see if she still had the mark in where Damon had that stuck his hand in her stomach. But it was completely gone.
Good. The last thing she needed was a reminded of that horrible day. She grabbed her book bag and headed downstairs where Jenna and Elena were getting breakfast. Jeremy was reading one of Jonathan Gilbert's old journals and drawing on his sketch pad. Something that he hadn't done in ages.
"Morning." Holly said as she grabbed a piece of toast. She raised an eyebrow. "Wow, Jeremy is drawing again-"
"Shh," Jenna winked. "You'll scare him away."
"How are you feeling?" Elena blurted out, not caring that Jenna was in the room. Jenna didn't need to know that Damon stuck his hand through her stomach and that she almost bleed to death last night while she and Elena were running through the middle of the woods.
"Fine." Holly said curtly as she gave her twin a pointed glance. She looked back at Jenna. "Just a headache last night. I took an Advil."
Elena's cell phone rang as she turned it off when she saw Stefan's name. "Everything ok?" Holly asked cautiously. She had told Elena, Stefan's message after Damon had left and her sister's eyes had welled up with tears, but she hadn't cried.
"Yeah, it's fine. Stefan is moving away there's nothing I can do about it." Elena responded sounding almost bitter.
"Where is he going?"
"I've stopped asking questions a long time ago." Elena told her aunt as Jenna followed her and Holly towards the door.
"Yours leaves, mine returns." She said.
Holly groaned. "Not Logan again, can't the guy take a hint? You can do so much better than him, Aunt Jenna."
Jenna smiled, turning a little pink. "Thanks, Holly and you would be proud to know that I slammed the door on his face."
"Well, no more Logan Scum Fell." Elena ordered as she closed the door. "You're moving on Jenna. Both of us."
Elena and Holly were walking across campus, there was a big sign that said The Promise of Your Future and many students and adults were putting on booths and posters for different careers.
Holly closed her eyes. "Crap, the career fair is today. I totally forgot."
"Well, thankfully I didn't. Caroline made me and Bonnie put posters all over town, now I can't even kept that stupid slogan out of my mind. You were lucky that you had to work that day." Elena looked at her curiously. "Are you sure, you're ok Holly?"
She nodded. "I'm fine, Elena no need to be over smothering. Stefan's blood helped me and I worked things out with Damon. I'm perfectly ok, I won't be sprouting fangs anytime soon."
"It's not that. Besides after today we don't have to worry about vampires anymore." Elena teased her. "Are you going to the career fair today?"
"Jenna is helping out so I guess I'll have to go," she responded moodily. "I don't know why I even bother, there's not going to be a career for me, unless they suddenly open a witch hotline."
"You can always sign up to be psychic."
"Very funny." Holly gasped." I left my phone in my car, I'll see you later."
Elena nodded as she walked towards Bonnie. Holly raced towards her car and found her phone sitting in the driver's seat. She got her keys and grabbed her phone. She was just putting on the alarm on her car, when she found herself being pinned against the car door.
A pair of blue eyes stared mockingly at her. "Boo."
"Damon!" she hissed as she wacked him in the arm. "You scared me."
"If I were someone else I would have killed you already. You need to have eyes everywhere, Sabrina the teenage witch."
"I'll make sure to install another pair of eyes in the back of my head." Holly said sarcastically. "What are you doing here? I thought you would be gone by now."
"Oh, you know just taking a walk in the neighborhood, looking for a new compelled girlfriend, speaking of which how is your stomach doing?" Damon asked. "Hopefully, still intact."
"Well, it hasn't exploded, sorry to disappoint you." Holly said as she began walking towards the school. "Now what do you want really, I have a feeling you didn't exactly come here to give me a get well card."
"Well, no seeing as you're still as spunky as ever. Contrary to what you seem to believe Holly I don't want you dead." Holly snorted. "Sherriff Forbes came to visit me this morning. Apparently there is another vampire on the loose."
Holly frowned. "Who?"
"If I knew then I wouldn't be here right now," Damon looked at her. "So Holly, how about you and me go on a little vampire hunting mission?"
