Chapter 21: Little Demons

'I think I might need a new house.' Kagome thought as she stood before Makarov and the new additions to Fairy Tail. 'Actually, I think I might as well buy a mansion…'

Standing in front of the S-class mage were three white haired children, whom she will be taking care of as well.

'You are very welcome master Makarov, I expect compensation in the form of money and a new mansion.' Kagome almost pouted at the thought of her poor (literally) bank account, but refrained from doing so, as well as squeal at the adorableness of her three new charges.

The youngest of the three is Lisanna, a short haired girl, with big curious eyes and a bright smile. Next was Elfman, a tall, tanned boy with a shy smile that made Kagome want to go aww~. And finally, the eldest of the three. One look at Mirajane, and the once-upon-a-miko could tell that this girl was like her old friend Inuyasha. A kind caring girl, hidden behind a tough mask due to the hate from those who don't except differences.

Kagome felt for the girl and her younger siblings, she has been briefed on what happened to the Strauss siblings by Makarov, and she was determined to show the chibi takeover mages the familiar love they deserve. But first thing first…

"Master, I think I need a new house."

~oo0oo~

The inside of the house was in ruins again and Makarov was being a stingy old man, so no mansion for the Higurashi-chibi-mages-household (yet). Kagome was also pretty sure she just made a really bad first impression for the Strauss siblings. But at least the house is still standing this time.

The original five chibi mages each had a deer caught in the headlight expression on their face. It seems that Erza was giving the half zombiefied Gray and Natsu a lesson for being their usual selves, and Levy and Cana were trying to drag Erza off the two. And Kirara just slept on her pillow, ignoring the fight as if it wasn't even there. Just the usual for this misfit of a family.

"Huh? So we have to live with a crazy red haired weirdo? How annoying." Mira asked Kagome impassively while pointing her fingers at Erza like she was an unwanted pest.

"What was that you punk?"

Kagome almost jumped in surprise when Erza teleported out of the grasp of Cana and Levy, and got in front of Mira.

"Hmm, are you deaf or something? I said you were a crazy red haired weirdo." Mira smirked smugly.

The equip mage's face turned bright red in anger. "Take that back! I'm not crazy! You are the insane one for dressing like a gothic punk!"

"You got something against the way I dress!?"

Before Erza could retort, Kagome cut her off, preventing another chibi war happening in her already ruined living room. "Ah! Stop right there both of you!"

Erza froze and had an almost guilty expression on her face, and Mira just clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Let's not fight anymore, 'kay? We will all be living under the same roof and as a family, so no more fighting." Kagome scolded the two girls, and then turned to her usual trouble duo. "That means you too, Gray, Natsu." Said boys quickly nodded their heads while pouting from their awkward positions on the floor.

"Aright then, let's clean up this mess and fix you all up. Then, some introductions are in order!"

~oo0oo~

After the house is in adequate conditions again, and none of the chibis are blue and black, Kagome quickly introduced the new family members. The chibis quickly made friends with each other, nevertheless, the animosity between Erza and Mira was obvious to everyone, including the usually oblivious Natsu. Kirara was actually quite taken with Elfman, and Kagome assumed it was something to do with the fact that he had the beast takeover magic. Thankfully, dinner passed with out too much of a fuss, and it was soon time for bed.

Kagome knew that putting Mira and Erza in the same room is like asking Gray and Natsu to be best friends, and after what the sibling of three has been through, it would be a bad idea to split them apart, so room arrangement will need to be sorted out a few days later.

For now, the three white haired chibis took Kagome's bedroom, while the raven haired adolescent used her very comfy couch in her mini-library down in the basement.

It was almost midnight when Kagome made her way to her bedroom. She can feel the aura of every individual in the house, and everyone was fast asleep, except for her and Mira.

When she opened the door, she saw Kirara cuddled between Elfman and Lisana, all three of them were dead to the world, and Mira was pretending to sleep beside Lisanna.

"Mira? I know you are awake." Kagome said gently.

Dark blue eyes snapped open and stared at her. "What do you want?"

"You can rest here peacefully, no one is going to hurt you here."

"I know."

Kagome frowned slightly. "What's keeping you up?"

"Why did you take us in? Is it out of pity or because it was an order from your master?" Mira sneered at the older mage.

"No, it was neither." Kagome shook her head. "I took your siblings in because I can help give you three a better life."

Mira snorted. "What are you? A saint? You don't know what you got yourself into by taking us in."

"I don't understand what you mean."

"I'm a monster. I'm not human." Mira bit out bitterly, trying her darn hardest to not tear up. "I shouldn't be alive."

Kagome's heart cried out to the girl, the young woman reached out and pulled the girl into a gentle embrace. Mira pushed against her hug, but Kagome didn't budge at the girl's monstrous strength. "You are no monster Mira. You are just a girl, misjudged by people because of your magical gifts. You can cry if you want to, it's not good to keep everything bottled up like this. I won't tell anyone; it can be our little secret."

And cry she did. Mira's tiny shoulders shook from her sobs. Kagome didn't say anything and simply held the girl tighter. At one point, Kirara woke up from the quiet sobbing. The twin tailed cat easily maneuvered towards Mira and rubbed against the girl gently, comforting her in her own feline ways. The two veteran warriors stayed by the young girl, patiently waiting for her to cry her heart out.

Mira's tears did eventually ran dry, and only occasional hiccups left her body.

"Ne, did you have a family too at one point?"

"Yes, I did. A really big one. We were a pack that looked after each other all the time." Kagome smiled fondly at her memories. "They are not in this world, and I miss them dearly."

The young takeover mage tilted her head curiously at the wording. 'What does she mean not in this world? It sounds as if they are still alive.'

"But it's okay. I still have Kirara, and I have all of you and the whole Fairy Tail guild now. And I'm happy here." Kagome told her and eased out of the tight hug. "Are you feeling better now?"

The chibi mage nodded her head, and was soon tucked into bed by Kagome. Kirara snuggled up against Mira and mewed happily since the girl has stopped crying.

Kagome giggled at the cute sight. "Good night Mira."

"Night, Onee-san."

AN: HIIII YALLL! I'M ALIVE! Hello readers, it has been quite awhile since I've updated any of my stories, my apologies (°̧̧̧ㅿ°̧̧̧) but here I am with a new chapter! To be honest, when I was writing this chapter, I totally forgot Kirara's existence ( ̄ω ̄;) forgive me almighty fire nekomata!

As for the sleeping arrangements prior to this chapter (There's three bedrooms, plus the master bedroom; that's 4 in total:

Kaggy had her own bedroom, Gray and Natsu each have their own room because they'll end up killing each other if they shared, and Levy, Cana, Erza shared the master bedroom.

New room arrangement:

Kaggy still has her room, Levy, Cana, Erza still shares the master bedroom, the boys have a room together (Elfman can be the peacemaker between Natsu and Gray), and Mira and Lisanna will now have a room together.
