A/N: Thank you everybody for the reviews and suggestions!
I actually just wanted to point one thing out, because of a review I got. I already emailed this person back, but I wanted to say it here in my author's note just in case anybody else was offended as to why Jennifer's skin is lighter when she is a vampire.
Stephanie Meyer's Official Illustrated Guide: "Regardless of original ethnicity, a vampire's skin will be exceptionally pale…When the venom spreads, it also leeches pigment in the skin, so after the transformation is complete, the vampire loses nearly all its skin color, as well as any moles, freckles, scars, or any other part of the skin with pigment from their human life."
Though this is my fanfiction that is stemming from my imagination, I didn't want to change key facts about Meyer's description of vampirism. I have stated in my story that there were darker African American vampires; obviously these vamps were darker in their human life; Jennifer was not. I think that all races are beautiful, which is why I made my main coven in the story so diverse! So I hope that clears everything up…. I hope you enjoy this next chapter!
"V"
JANE POV
"FORWARD!" Caius yelled triumphantly. He didn't have to tell me twice. The covens in the south were acting out again, and we had to step in to protect our secret. Not that any of us complained.
Alec, my twin brother was already in the process of dispatching his numbing power, which halted a few newborns in their need to kill us for their survival. I small smile spread across my lips, as I thought of the immense pain I was about to deliver to some unlucky newborn.
"Pain," I said with a hint of a hiss in my voice. Immediately, I felt a light weight lifter off my consciousness, and weigh down on the newborn who was now withering in pain, not ten feet from me.
Her screams made me smile wider; a trait that I had picked up from Caius over the centuries. As she burned and screamed for mercy, I thought back to the time when I was just a small human child, burning on a stake screaming for mercy with my brother.
I weighed heavily on her now, as the memory filled me with fury. "All out," I hissed at her.
Santiago and another guard, who I didn't bother to learn her name, stepped up and put the newborn out of her misery. I smiled with glee as they through her disembodied corpse into the flames.
We had originally come to The United States to hunt down The Children of the Moon. But Caius couldn't let a potential death go unpunished. And neither could I. Aro had sent Caius and Marcus to The New World to hunt down these beast.
Aro had said that he had other matters to attend to.
As I tortured my victims to their deaths, I looked around and saw that there were no more newborns. I sighed. That was the downfall of bringing this many of the guard with us; there was just not enough victims for all of us to kill.
The wind picked up, and we smelled the burning too sweet smell of vampire. It was a scent that we were all accustomed too. And if I was being honest with myself, it was a scent that I loved.
I stroked the V pendent around my neck. That's when the scent hit us all. The gagging scent of Werewolf. We all growled and listened to where it might be. But we didn't need Demetri to tell us that the scent was old.
"Demetri," Caius said with enthusiasm, "Lead us in the direction of this abomination!"
"Yes, Master," Demetri said submissively. Alec came and took my hand, as we began to follow Demetri north.
An hour passed, but it didn't matter to any of us. We had all lived centuries, and an hour felt like seconds to us. We knew that we had reached our destination, when the smell of rot hit our noses strongly.
Some of us hissed, some crouched in defensive positions around Caius and Marcus. Alec and I became joyful at the prospect that we would use our powers again. We hadn't had this much fun since the first Southern Newborn Wars, and when we usurped the Romanians from power.
That's when we saw the beast. He growled in the bushes like a coward, but he wasn't growling at us. He was growling at four vampires. The beast made to lunge at the blonde one in front, when I said, "Pain."
The pressure was once again inflicted on the beast. It gave me pleasure to know that I could also do this on this beast.
The four vampires looked in our direction; their eyes widened in….surprise…fear? I smiled cruelly, as the blonde one's eyes landed on my pendent.
"Quickly…" Marcus said monotonously, gestured at the beast who was still coughing and spitting on the ground. Felix, Santiago, and Demetri, jumped to where the beast was, and messily killed the bloody beast.
The four vampires continued to look at us stupidly. "Who are you?" Caius said menacingly. The blonde one took charge and said, "I am Matthew, this is my mate Constance, and our family Bo and Min."
I almost scoffed. Family? A blind man could see that these two Asians weren't related to this man and his mate. Caius hissed.
"Have you been consorting with Werewolves? If you have, than you will be punished by the law!" Caius said.
"Consorting?" The redhead girl, Constance asked. "Did you not see that this thing was about to pounce on us?"
Caius growled and I smiled. I could sense that the smell of burning vampire was about to permeate the air. "Are you calling me blind?" Caius said lowly.
The girl looked confused. "No. All I am saying is that if you hadn't shown up, we would have been fighting this…." She gestured to the pile of arms and legs that have been twisted of the Werewolf body.
The air was tense, and it grew even tenser as the silence stretched on. I was practically already releasing the weight again, when Caius said, "Perhaps we can lodge at wherever you are staying; for the time being. We need to replenish our strength." Caius finished.
I knew what Caius was doing. He was daring them to say no, so that he could kill them, and if they said yes, he would fabricate some evidence against them to watch them burn. He had done it countless times over the centuries when there hadn't been enough kills.
Either way they die. I was waiting for the blonde one named Matthew, to say no, but he surprised me by saying, "Of course." And he gestured in front of him. He wasn't going to let us behind his coven, and that was alright with me.
He couldn't touch us even if he tried. As we walked closer to him and where he was gesturing, I got a glimpse of their eyes. All of them were a golden color, except for the Asian man named Bo, who was obviously a newborn.
Their eyes reminded me of Carlisle Cullen, when he stayed with us. It took nearly no time at all for us to reach where they were staying.
Their home was beautiful, not nearly as extravagant as our castle back in Volterra, but still great. It reminded me of the Roman temples, with all the white columns, and marble. We heard movement in the house, and we all tensed.
Two more vampires walked outside. A tall black-haired male, and a tan beautiful woman. I heard Demetri and Felix chuckle behind me. It was clear that this woman was mated to this man, so they could just forget it.
"Who are you?" She said with so much authority. I almost hissed at her. Everybody knew who we were. And if they didn't, then the pendent gave us away.
"Jennifer!" said the annoying blonde boy.
JENNIFER POV
My day had been complete bliss. Thomas had proposed to me, and I didn't realize until after I said yes, that I needed him.
The other four had gone out give us some time to ourselves. The time they spent away wasn't long, because they were back; and with visitors.
I knew that my family was there, because I could sense them, but the large number of vampires in the front of my home did not sit well with me.
"Who are you?" I asked, but immediately knew the answer. The V pendent draped around their necks proudly gave it away. A small child, not much older than Baako was glaring at me, like I had the nerve to even ask.
Thomas was positioning himself in front of me when Matthew said, "Jennifer!" The other three came around the bunch of vampires.
Min looked afraid when she said, "A Werewolf almost attacked us, but it was intercepted by-" She was cut off by a middle aged blonde haired male.
"Enough of this nonsense!" He hissed. "We are staying here for the time being to recuperate." He finished.
The way he talked to me, reminded me of my slave days; like he could just do what he wanted to do. When and how. It aggravated me so much.
"If you want to stay in my home," I hissed defiantly, and felt the rush of magic gladly getting ready to wreak havoc, "Then you ask with respect!" I said as the anger leaked into my voice.
The man smiled as if he was waiting for just this.
