The dwarves especially Thorin's remaining companions gathered for the funeral ceremony. Thorin was to be buried along with the Arkenstone and Orcrist. Fili and Kili were also buried. Bilbo along with the 10 dwarves mourned for Thorin and his nephews. Gandalf, Radagast, Beorn, the U.N.S.C., and Elites also attended the ceremony. The marines and Elites paid their respects though they did not have the chance to know Thorin and his nephews personally.

"The king is dead," Gandalf announced.

"Long live the king!" Thorin's 10 companions all shouted while raising their weapons to the air. Dain was crowned the new King under the Mountain and bowed.

"There is to be a great feast tonight. Songs will be sung, tales will be told, and Thorin Oakenshield will pass into legend," said Balin.

"I know that's how you must honor him, but to me, he was never that. He was to me, he was … Well, I think I'll slip quietly away, will you tell the others I said goodbye?" said Bilbo as he was about to leave.

"You can tell them yourself," Balin said as 10 dwarves, U.N.S.C., and Elites were at the entrance.

"If any of you are ever passing Bag End, tea is at four. There's plenty of it, and you're welcome any time," said the hobbit and everybody except Balin bowed. "Uh, don't bother knocking."

"It has been a pleasure knowing you, Bilbo," Master Chief kneeled in front of the hobbit and shook hands. The marines and Lasky all saluted to Bilbo. "Good-bye, Bilbo."

"It has been a great honor traveling with you," said the Arbiter. "Farewell."

Bilbo and Gandalf left Erebor first.

The U.N.S.C. and Elites joined the dwarves in their celebration. The marines enjoyed the feast a lot more than the Elites.

The next morning, the U.N.S.C. and Elites began loading into the Pelican dropships. "Where are you going?" it was Balin.

"We're going to repair the ship, Beams of Spring, and we will be out of this planet," Lasky replied.

"It has been a pleasure to know all of you," Master Chief said to the 10 dwarves. "Goodbye."

"Farewell," said the Arbiter.

"Goodbye," said the dwarves and they all watched the Pelican dropships all took off. The Pelican dropships returned to the Beams of Spring and the men began repairs. Several days later, the Beams of Spring was fully functional and it took off from the planet. Master Chief, U.N.S.C., the Arbiter, and the Elites were never seen in Middle-earth again.
