Hey, my lovely readers. I'm going to be rotating some on billion stories because I have headache that would rival something you see on one of the shows. So, I'm going to try to update what I can when I can but until the pain stops I am not making any promises to anyone about anything.
There is only one more chapter and a prologue to this story. Whoa, it has been a long ride and there are still two more stories in the series. On with the show…
Chapter 21: One Hour
Bonnie was walking along the beach. Nik Jr. and Caroline Jr. needed to get out of the resort and so did she. It was like the atmosphere was becoming toxic. She was not quite sure what was going on but she knew that something was wrong and she felt fear creeping into her blood stream. Kol had come into their room only three hours ago and had begun to pack their things with no sign on attempting to get prepared for his duties as a groomsman.
"Kol, what are you doing?" Bonnie had asked lightly with a smile as Kol turned around and grinned at her.
"Nothing, darling, everything is right in the world," Kol had replied. "Sorry, my little witchy, have things to get into order. But I promise you that I will explain all when I return." Pressing his lips to hers gently, Kol had disappeared before Bonnie could breathe a word of protest.
Now, Bonnie was walking along the beach trying to clear her head. She saw her grandmother walking toward her. "Hey, baby girl, what's on your mind?" Sheila Bennett inquired staring at Bonnie like she could see into her soul.
Bonnie tried to force a smile but she couldn't lie to her grams. "I think there's something wrong, Grams," she whispered as Nik Jr. picked up a piece of driftwood and held it out to her. Taking the offering, Bonnie tossed it and watched as the dogs chased after it.
Shelia looked out at the ocean, wrapping her arms around herself. "Bonnie, you're nearly a grown woman and there are a lot of hard things ahead of you in life." Turning, Shelia gave Bonnie a wistful smile. "But I take comfort in the fact that I raised you right and I know that whatever happens that you be okay. Now, you need to trust that and learn to trust yourself. Do you hear me, girl?"
"Yes, Grams," Bonnie replied taking her grandmother's arm and they strode down the beach together. As they walked, Bonnie focused on gaining inner strength to deal with the storm that was coming their way.
Elijah Mikaelson was examining the ceiling of the resort. He would actually miss this place. It held warm memories even when he wanted to throttle all of the people around him. Some part of Elijah was pleased with the progress that the entire family had made. He had married. Niklaus was about to marry and calmed somewhat from his intolerant desire to control and murder every other person in his wake. Kol seemed to be happy and had not caused too much chaos. He and the young Bennett witch were an amusing match and seemed to balance each other. Even Rebekah… His thoughts trailed off as Elijah recalled his sister's newest heartbreak.
Frowning, Elijah wondered where his family had gone off to but he did not have time to go looking for them. "Hey, Elijah," Bill Forbes called. "May I have a word with you?" Bill was standing beside Liz Forbes and both of them looked mildly concerned.
"Yes. Of course," Elijah replied with a smile.
"We just went up to Caroline's room and knocked. She wouldn't or couldn't open the door," Bill informed Elijah who felt his heart sink.
'Damn it, Niklaus,' Elijah thought feeling rage taking the place of the calm he had once felt. He could not simply wait for the wedding; he had to take Caroline away with him. And just when Elijah was thinking that Niklaus was beginning to change his ways he had to prove his older brother wrong. Forcing on a wide smile, Elijah began to walk toward the bank of elevators. "Oh, I'm sure that Niklaus probably whisked her off to some last minute surprise. But I shall go up to her room and ask Niklaus to see if either came back to their rooms."
"She isn't with any of the others. I already called them," Liz shouted after him and Elijah looked back at her.
"I'll find her," Elijah reassured the parent of the bride. Even if he had to rip someone's heart out he would find the girl. Elijah's mood darkened as the elevator doors closed. No, there was nothing that Elijah would not do to make sure that Caroline and his niece were safe. Nothing.
Elena Gilbert was sitting by the pool with Stefan and Lexi. They were laughing and drinking something with little umbrella's. "One of my best friends is marrying the guy who killed me," Elena giggled.
"I used to be friends with him," Stefan shouted.
"How many of those things have you had?" Lexi inquired before falling out of her chair and then laughing even harder. "I can't believe that I'm attending the wedding of Niklaus Mikaelson. I can't believe that I'm the doctor of the mother of the baby of Niklaus Mikaelson. O. M. G."
"You can say that again," Elena squealed. Pulling out her phone, she began to dial a number but she kept calling the wrong people. "Shit, Stefan, what's Bunny's number?"
"Bunny? Who's Bunny? Is that some kind of a joke?" Stefan glowered at Elena but he couldn't for long because it all seemed so funny. "I like bunnies."
"Don't we all know," Damon called to them as he appeared and Elena giggled happily.
"Bunny!" Elena cried before running up to him and throwing her arms and legs around him while peppering him with kisses. "Where were you?"
"Did I not tell you to not call me that?" Damon replied, shaking his head and ignoring the question. He had enough problems. The last thing he needed was being teased about being the entertainment for the Original sister and the bride-to-be.
"Bunny!" Stefan and Lexi yelled in unison and Damon groaned. Oh, he so hoped that if they drank enough that they would forget about that damned nickname. But more than likely they wouldn't which meant one thing. He needed to be more drunk than they were.
Katherine Mikaelson nee Pierce was walking quickly around her room that she shared with Elijah. Throwing things in her bags as quickly as she could, she felt her eyes fill with tears. She hated this. Katherine never cried about anything. There was never anything past the loss of her baby and her parents. Nothing else could wound her as deeply as that loss but now there was this.
Looking around the room, Katherine thought of dozens of times that she had laughed with Elijah. Of the way that he kissed like she was the most precious person that he had ever met. No one had ever looked at Katherine the way that Elijah looked at her. However, Damon was right. She was not good. Katherine had hurt people and done really awful things. In the end she would destroy everything that was good between herself and Elijah.
Rolling her eyes, Katherine picked up a note pad and wrote down a quick good-bye to the only man she was sure had truly loved her. Smiling through her tears, Katherine placed the note on the pillow. She knew that they had forever and that one day they would find each other again but until then she needed to figure out what she needed to do to not destroy the one good thing that had ever happened to her.
Jenna Sommer was sleeping peacefully in her room with Alaric Saltzman. As for Alaric he had gone to town with Jeremy who was frustrated. "I don't know what got into me, Ric," Jeremy told Alaric as he stared out the window shield of the resort van that Alaric had grabbed.
"Your problem, Jer, is that you need to stay the hell away from vampires and this damned resort is full of vampires," Alaric said as his hands tightened on the wheel. "You and your sister have to get the hell away from all of the vampires," he said before slamming his hand on the steering wheel. "You have to stop it with the DAMNED VAMPIRES!" Alaric shouted and Jeremy could only stare at the hunter.
"Ric, calm down, man," Jeremy shouted, placing his hands on the front panel of the car. Alaric was beginning to scare him little.
Sucking in a deep breath, Alaric shook his head. He had no idea where that outburst just came from. "I'm sorry, Jeremy. I'm not sure what that was about."
"Well, stop it," Jeremy snapped, staring at Alaric, feeling frightened for his mentor. He loved Ric. He was like an older brother or a father figure. Jeremy did not want to lose him but he couldn't be acting like that around his aunt and his sister.
"It won't happen again," Alaric promised, forcing a reassuring smile, turning to look at Alaric when someone stepped out into the road.
"Ric! Look out!" Jeremy shouted, pointing at the woman in the long white dress. Alaric looked up and swerved the car. It skidded off the road and they were rolling. Alaric barely noticed as Jeremy's head hit the dashboard and Alaric's vision faded to black. His last thoughts were that Caroline was going to be pissed because they were going to be late for the wedding.
Hayley Marshall was nervously pacing the lobby of the resort. It seemed like everyone was missing and she was the only one who was ready for the wedding which was off since she had been a last minute invite. Rolling her eyes, she pulled out her phone as it began to buzz in her clutch. "Hello," she called with all of the enthusiasm of nothing as Atticus Shane chuckled into her ear.
"Hello, to you, too, Hayley. How is Italy?" Shane asked pleasantly but when did he not act like the world was just bright and shiny?
Sighing heavily, Hayley opened her mouth to reply when she noticed that Matt guy and his wife or girlfriend or underage "friend" come walking through the hall. "Italy is fine, Shane," Hayley replied with a wide grin. "I think it's about to get better though."
"Really? Have you made any progress in finding potentials?" Shane inquired.
"I might have found a few people that no one would miss too much," Hayley replied with a smirk. It didn't seem like any of the people in this group were all that close to this Matt guy except for Tyler and Jeremy. Frankly, Hayley could care less about what the younger people felt and as for Tyler he was a potential along with his little girlfriend, Sarah. Therefore their opinions did not count.
The hard thing was finding a replacement for Caroline Forbes. She was pregnant and there was no way that Hayley was making her into a potential even if Caroline had been a bitch to her when they first met. And she was kind of Hayley's friend which pissed Hayley off to no end because she liked to think of herself as someone with no friends.
Opening her mouth to speak again, Hayley looked up and saw Rebekah Mikaelson storming through the lobby. "Got to go," Hayley told Shane, hanging up before he could reply. "Hey, Rebekah, what's up?"
Rebekah Mikaelson was furious. She had planned on seducing Damon to revenge herself upon Jeremy for his misjudgment. However, she had then remembered that this was Caroline's special day and if Damon told Elena then Caroline would freak out and there went the wedding for the second time. Now, she was looking for the bride. She should be around here somewhere and all Rebekah wanted was bottle of wine to get through this stupid wedding.
Walking into the lobby, the first person she ran into was Hayley. The werewolf began to speak but Rebekah walked straight past her. "If you want to make yourself useful today then I suggest you accompany me to the cellar so that I may retrieve refreshments for after the bloody wedding."
"Bloody wedding?" Hayley began to chuckle until Rebekah gave her a dark look.
"What is wrong with you?" Rebekah snarled causing Hayley to stop where she was standing.
"Excuse me? What is wrong with me? I'm the only one who's ready for this freakin' wedding. And I have been walking around the lobby for an hour waiting for anyone, let alone the bride, to show up and I have not seen anyone," Hayley snapped and then her eyes widened. "Wait. No. That's not right. A friend called me when your older brother, Elijah, right?" Rebekah nodded impatiently. "Yeah, Elijah walked into the lobby and this couple, Caroline's parents I think, started asking him something. I think that they said something about not being able to find Caroline… or Klaus."
"What?" Rebekah thundered. "What do you mean they could not find them?" Pulling out her phone, Rebekah hit Elijah's number and began to tap her foot as she waited for him to answer. However, his phone when straight to voice mail.
"Damn it," Rebekah swore. Staring at her phone and then at Hayley. "Go find my brother. I have to go get the wine." She could hear the wolf protesting but she was already on her way to the cellar. What she needed was a damn drink. More than likely Caroline had had another change of mind and had tried to run when Klaus had found her and taken her somewhere against her will. This was not something that Rebekah wanted to be a part of again.
Heading down the stairs, Rebekah could hear her heels clicking down the stairs but she could also hear the sounds of voices. What in the God's name? Perking her ears, Rebekah recognized the sound of Kol's, Caroline's and Klaus' voices. What in hell was going on? 'Did Kol try to stop Nik's?' Rebekah wondered as she placed her hand on the doorknob. Making up her mind, she yanked the door open and her jaw dropped at the sight before her.
Tyler Lockwood woke up with his head throbbing. This was just so wrong. First, he had been compelled by Kol Mikaelson, now, someone had snapped his neck. "Damn, that hurt," Tyler muttered to himself. Looking across the room he saw Kol, Caroline and Klaus were yelling at each other. Then Rebekah entered the room and entered the fray.
Pushing himself into a sitting position, Tyler looked over to see Sarah lying on the ground beside him. She wasn't breathing and her heart wasn't beating. "NO!" Tyler howled, staring at the blonde's head that twisted at an unnatural angle. "Sarah. Sarah, wake up. Please, Sarah. Wake up for me. Please! Don't leave me alone. Please! I can't do this without you!"
Sarah didn't move as Tyler gathered her into his arms and he began to sob quietly. Caroline's head whirled in their direction. "Ty," she whispered as her eyebrows shot upward and she covered her mouth. "No. Oh, no. Oh! Klaus!"
Caroline looked panicked as she turned her head to stare at Klaus who did not look alarmed as he cocked his head to the side. "That is not the biggest problem we have right now, love."
"Are you kidding me?" Tyler and Caroline yelled at the same time, glaring at Klaus. Kol took that moment to try to flee when Rebekah grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the floor.
"Bekah?" Kol cried, staring in shock up at Rebekah.
"What were you doing down here, Kol?" Rebekah demanded.
"Doing what you and Lijah did not have the brains to do," Kol shot back, jumping to his feet.
"Klaus, I killed that girl," Caroline was shouting at her fiancée, who shrugged.
Tyler's head whipped in Caroline's direction. "You killed Sarah?" he asked his friend, his eyes beginning to glow and he could feel himself beginning to shift. He did not want to but he could not help it. The rage and grief were too much to contain. "Run, Caroline," he shouted as Caroline's eyes widened in fear. "Or so help me, I will kill you."
"I do not think so," Klaus informed Tyler stepping between the two and staring at Tyler with a smirk.
"I'm not your little bitch anymore, Klaus," Tyler yelled as the change began and he sank to his knees.
"Oh, that is just lovely," Kol shouted, staring at the hybrid in transition. "I do so hope that the two of you enjoy your wedding with that," he pointed at Tyler, "tearing the guests' throats out."
"Answer my question, Kol," Rebekah yelled at Kol. She felt furious. They were supposed to get through this stupid wedding and she needed a damn drink.
"I was trying to stop Nik from being the psycho that he is. Don't you want to be free from his controlling ways, Bekah?" Kol pleaded watching as Rebekah's eyes glazed over.
"I do it out of love," Klaus screamed at both Kol and Rebekah. "If you would stop doing such stupid things I would not have to worry. Otherwise, you will die like Henrick." Kol and Rebekah could only stare at Klaus as he sank to the floor and stared at the floor.
Tyler was now on all fours and he knew that he would complete the transition soon. Snarling at the vampires in his midst, he started to lunge when there was a cough from behind him. Spinning around, Tyler saw Sarah sitting up. "Sarah?" Tyler exclaimed suddenly feeling calm.
"What is going on?" Sarah asked quietly.
"You're a bloody hybrid, love," Klaus snapped at her. "Remember?" he asked, calmly from his place on the floor. He did not have the energy to get up and compel her to remember but she seemed to be fairly susceptible to suggestion before.
"How?" Caroline gasped.
"I forced her to drink my blood the night that she appeared on the beach. Damon Salvatore and I had a little arrangement in which he gave me a couple of bags of the doppleganger's blood before she transitioned so that I would spare their worthless lives," Klaus informed, Caroline who frowning deeply. "She's not the only one," he whispered, feeling dread as Caroline's expression darkened.
"Who else did you do this to, Klaus?" Caroline demanded as she glared down at him.
"Are you two still getting married?" Sarah called, interrupting Klaus before he could respond.
"Yes," Caroline said before walking away. "I have no idea why at this moment but, yes, I'm going to marry Klaus and then he is going to tell me everything or this will be the shortest marriage in history."
