Touch My Heart - Chapter 21
A/N: Hey again! Just wanted to say thank you for all the kind reviews and comments on the last few chapters. They're great! This chapter is from myself and Christina. You will hear from Joey in the next chapter. I know the prom is dragging, but I want to make sure that everything is covered, being that I'm showing many sides to this story through Alex/Chad, Will/Sonny and Joey/Abigail. Just want to make sure that you all understand why. - Roxy.
(Alex POV)
Just as Will and Sonny left for the prom, Chad arrived with the DiMera limo. I smiled shyly as the sight before me when I saw Chad walking out of the limo with a bouquet of red roses in his right hand, a boxed corsage in the left, and to add-on to that, one of the most beautiful smiles that I've ever seen.
He was practically beaming with happiness.
He slowly walked towards me, flowers in hand and with a sheepish grin intact. "I know this might sound cheesy, but I wanted to get you flowers for the prom. I hope it's not too much." He stated, handing over the flowers to me.
Instead of accepting the flowers like a normal person should, I stood there silently, thinking of what I should do or say next. To say that I was used to this kind of treatment, would be a lie. Because I wasn't. Being new to dating, or the possibility of dating was still uncharted territory for me, and knowing how Chad already felt about me kinda made things a little awkward being that neither of us have actually confirmed our relationship as 'boyfriends'.
"I'm sorry," Chad apologized. "I shouldn't have brought you flowers. You probably think it's lame. I'll just toss them in the trash." Chad frowned and turned to leave when I reached out and grabbed his arm, and explained to him why I was acting like a complete idiot.
"Please don't throw them out. They're beautiful, Chad. Thank you." I said, taking the flowers out of Chad's hand and placing them in my own.
"I thought you hated them? I mean, when you didn't take them right away, I just thought..." Chad seemed a bit confused by my reaction, but that's understandable given the way I reacted when he first offered them to me.
"You thought that I disliked them. Well, you're wrong. In fact, I love them so much. It's just..." I paused for a moment. "...I've never received flowers before," I admitted and lowered my eyes to the ground. "I'm such an idiot."
"You are not an idiot. You may be a little rough around the edges, and have the worst way of showing appreciation, but the one thing that you're not is an idiot."
"Well, thank you for saying that, but it's not going to change the fact that I feel like one." I slightly frowned, feeling embarrassed for the way I acted towards Chad.
Chad smiled and inched his way a few steps closer to me. "I also got you this," he said, handing over the corsage that he had in his hands.
"Chad, you really didn't have to go through all that trouble..." Chad cut me off, before I even had a chance to finish what was about to say.
"You're worth the trouble, Alex. I know that we agreed on taking this slow and see where things might lead between us, but I want you to know that I'm serious about wanting a relationship with you. I'll do everything it takes to convince you that I'm not going anywhere, no matter how long it takes." Chad declared, pressing his forehead gently against mine.
"Chad..." I protested, feeling my heart racing a mile a minute. "I feel like everything's moving so fast and...I'm scared that we won't have enough time..."
"I'm not going anywhere..." Chad breathed out, a few measly inches away from my lips.
"You keep saying that." I pointed out, dropping both the corsage and the flowers onto the ground, wrapping my arms around Chad's waist.
"It because I'm not...I'm here to stay..." Chad confirmed once again, breathlessly.
"I'm falling, Chad, and I'm scared...I so fucking scared." I admitted, pressing my body up closer against Chad's while holding onto him for dear life.
"Don't be afraid, I'll catch you..." Chad whispered and pressed his lips firmly against mine. Our hands roamed each others bodies, touching each other in ways that we've never permitted ourselves before, keeping things under control and consensual without overstepping boundaries. My lips slowly parted, inviting Chad inside. I gasped at the intrusion when I felt the warmth of Chad's tongue slowly slip its way inside my mouth with caution. Slowly, we started exploring each other.
The kiss was unlike any of other kisses we previously share. The only words I could use to describe this kiss was magical. Sharing this intimate moment with Chad made me realize just how much I've been missing out on by closing myself off from love.
Chad pulled away, panting and breathless. He smiled, keeping his forehead grounded onto mine. "Wow, that was..."
"Perfect. It's was perfect." I equally agreed, and for the first time since Chad and I got together a few weeks ago, I felt like things were finally falling into place.
"So...Are you ready to do this? I mean..." Chad paused, as if he was unsure what to say next.
"I've never been more ready in my entire life." I smiled and reached out for Chad's hand and remembered the corsage and my flowers that were still laying on the ground. "Wait, you forgot something." I leaned down and picked up the beautiful bouquet and the boxed corsage from the ground and handed the corsage over to Chad. "Will you?"
Chad nodded and opened plastic box and pulled up the delicate arrangement made up of a mixture of baby's breath and a single white rose, and pinned it on my lapel.
"You look beautiful, Alex."
I blushed at the remarks. "Thank you. You don't look that bad yourself." I teased, gaining a slap on the shoulder from Chad.
"Ah, Alex. I see you haven't lost your charming ways." Chad retorted, taking my hand and led me to the limo.
"Never. I'm a Kiriakis after all. I must keep up with my image." I winked.
"Oh, really? I guess we'll just see about that. Now get into the limo before I shove you inside." Chad ordered with a laugh.
"Do you always treat your friends with such kindness?" I snorted out jokingly, never expecting what Chad was about to say next.
"I love you, Alex."
My heart stopped, and for a moment, I had to remind myself how to breathe. Turning slowly to face Chad, I placed my hand over my face, stunned by his confession. "What did you just say?" I questioned. I wanted to be sure I heard him right.
"I said that I love you, Alex."
"Chad..." And for the second time tonight, I was left speechless.
"Look, I know that we haven't been together that long and that you're probably freaking out right now because of what I just said, but I wanted you to know how I really feel about you," Chad paused for a second and swallowed. "I love you, Alexander Kiriakis, so much. I get that you're probably not there yet and I'm not expecting you to say it back in return, but still... I wanted you to know." I could feel Chad's eyes staring at me, looking for a reaction.
Sometimes, things happen, when you least expect it. Like take Chad for instance, confessing his love for me just now. Totally unexpected, but yet, it felt totally appropriate.
I nervously looked up at Chad with a smile slowly creeping up on my lips. I wasn't expecting to tell him this until the end of our evening together, but
sometimes, things don't always turn out as we plan. They turn out better that we ever imagined. "I...I love you too." I said confidently and waited for Chad's
response.
Without hesitation, Chad pulled me up into his arms and kissed me fiercely, "God, I've waited so long to tell you, baby," Chad confessed, burying his face in the crook of my neck and whispered again. "I love you."
"I love you too." I closed my eyes and lingered in our embrace.
After a few minutes, I pulled away and smiled at Chad who was practically glowing with happiness. "You seem happy." I teased, already knowing the reason why Chad was so content.
"That's because I am happy. I have to most amazing boyfriend in the whole world."
"You have a boyfriend?" I pretended to be surprised. "Should I kick his ass?"
"Shut up, Kiriakis. You know what I mean."
I nodded. "Yeah, I was just messing with you. So, boyfriends?"
"Well, yeah? Is it alright for me to call you that? Cause if you don't want me too-..."
"Would you just shut up and kiss your boyfriend?" I demanded and smiled. Confirming to Chad in the process that I was indeed his boyfriend. Officially.
"Gladly."
(Will's POV)
I jumped out of my car and hurried over to Sonny's side to open the door for him. He smiled at the gesture as he stepped out of the sedan and grabbed my hand. "Just breathe my love. I'm here." I said as I laced our fingers together and led him towards the two-story brick building.
"Will," Sonny hesitated and stopped his steps. "I'm scared." I barely heard him over the blowing wind.
"I know babe, but I'm here with you. Your brothers will be in soon as well. We won't let anything happen to you, I promise. Trust me?"
I saw him nod his head and felt his hands tightening their grip around mine. I smiled and ran my free hand through his brown locks, "I'm here." I whispered against his temple and gave him a small reassuring kiss there.
I watched Sonny take a deep breath and begin his steps, again, slowly towards the building. "I'm so proud of you." I declared as we climbed the final step and walked through the tacky prom decorations that lined the doorway.
We walked inside, where there was already a room full of people dancing. I heard, rather than saw, Sonny gasp. I turned over to reassure him and found him about to go straight into panic mode. He had gone stiff, rigid almost, eyes squinted shut, lips pierced in a worried line, and beads of sweat beginning to form on his forehead. He looked completely horrified.
I wrapped my right arm around his back and tangled my left hand into his hair. Leaning over towards him, I whispered, "Are you alright Sonny?"
"You'll stay with me?" He mouthed, if he voiced that concern, it was so quiet that I didn't hear it. I more read his lips, which began to worry me a little bit.
"Always." I whispered against his lips and gave him a kiss, just to prove that I really was here and wasn't about to leaving him.
"Thank you." he said, finally finding his voice. "Can I have some water please?" he asked, throat sounding a little parched.
"Sure love, let's make our way to the refreshment table and see what they have there, yeah?" I asked. Sonny nodded his head and we started our trek, weaving in and out of people as we made our way over to one of the long, rectangular table.
"It's beautiful." I heard from my side. "I've never seen so many wonderful colors together on one table."
I smiled. "It's almost as beautiful as you are." I whispered and smiled at the blush creeping up his neck.
"Thank you." he whispered as he lifted the clear plastic cup to his lips and took a sip.
"For what?" I asked curiously, trying to figure out what he's thanking me for.
"For loving me." he said with a shrug.
"Always, Son. Always."
(Sonny's POV)
Will and I are sitting at a beautiful table, drinking our punch, when a nice piano instrumental song comes on. I smile to myself; I've always loved listening to soft piano music.
I heard Will clear his throat and I looked up to see what he was doing when I saw him standing up and his hand was outstretched towards me with a huge smile on his face. "Sonny, may I have this dance?" he whispered, a little unsure of himself.
"Today and forever." I answered, standing up and taking his hand.
I patted my pocket one last time, just to make sure Will's gift is still there. I chickened out giving it to him earlier. It's just the flower that he gave me was so beautiful that I couldn't imagine him liking the necklace as much as he liked the flower; so I just decided to give it to him later. Looking at his beautiful crystal blue eyes right now, I forget why I was so nervous to give my gift to him in the first place.
Will slowly lead me out onto the dance floor; he found a spot that doesn't have too many people and wrapped his arms around my waist. I responded by resting my hands around his neck and leaned my head in, nuzzling my nose into the crook of his neck.
I felt his throat vibrating, and it's then that I realized that he's singing something. I leaned my head in a little closer so that I could maybe hear his words clearer.
"A special world for you and me, a special bond for us to be.
A special place for us to rest, a special spot to be our best."
It's cheesy but I smiled. I leaned back from his embrace, "Will, did you just make that up?"
"Hmmmm? Oh yeah, like it Sunshine?" he asked giving a half smile.
"I did." I answered, leaning back in, resting my head once again on his shoulder.
"Sometimes I don't feel worthy of a face like yours.
You make me feel like I'm in Heaven,
you make me feel special behind locked doors."
I giggled, "What does that even mean?" I smiled into his neck.
He shrugged, "What can I say, I'm corny when I write poetry on the spot."
"Will?" I asked and leaned back so that I could see his face. It's half lit by the spinning ball above of us and the glow sets something on fire inside of me. I know that I can do this.
"I have something for you." I said a little unsure of myself.
"You do love?" he asked while running his hand through my hair. I took in a shaky breath, those hands make my knees weak and it doesn't really help me focus.
"I do, but could you sing some more first?"
"Absolutely."
(Will's POV)
I can tell he's nervous, but I'm not quite sure why. He took a deep breath and nuzzled his nose more into the crook of my neck. This boy really has no idea what he does to me does he?
I wrapped my arms tighter around his waist and continued to sway my hips to the beautiful instrumental piece.
"If I could only have one wish, it would be to wake up next to you every day.
If I had just one day left, I would never be able to say,
how much I will love you, until the end of time."
I felt his shoulders shake a little and I pushed him back slightly. "Hey, hey love. What is it?" I asked when I realized that small tears were running down his cheeks. I cupped his cheek with my right hand and wiped away the tears with my thumb.
He shook his head, just enough so that I could feel the action. I leaned in and gave him a feather light kiss on his lips and then placed a trail of small kisses up his cheek to the back of his neck, resting my lips on that little sensitive spot just below his ear. I felt his shudder and know that I've hit that spot.
"What's wrong my love?" I whispered softly as I kissed that special spot again.
"I have something for you Will, but I'm afraid..." he started, but is unable to continue as his body started to tremble slightly.
"Afraid of what my love?" I tightened my grip around his waist and pulled him closer into my hold. If I could hold this man forever, if I could protect this man from ever feeling afraid for a single moment for the rest of my life, I would.
Sonny leaned back and wiped a few tears from his eyes. "I'm not as romantic as you are Will. I can't give you a song or a poem with the present I have for you."
That's what this is about? "I don't need a poem Sonny, nor do I need a song. I just need your amazing voice; do you NOT know what your voice does to me?" I ask incredulously.
Sonny sighed and then lifted his arms up to his neck, fiddling with his shirt. I cocked my head to the left, not quite sure what he was doing; when I saw him bring out a beautiful long gold chain with a heart pendant attached to it.
I couldn't help myself, I raised my hand to the necklace and traced the chain down to the pendant and swallow. "It's beautiful Sonny. Where did you get it?"
"I bought it to go with yours." Sonny said shrugging, then he slowly slid his left hand into his jacket pocket. When his hand reappeared, there was a matching gold chain with a key pendant attached to it.
I gasped, "It's a key?" I whispered in wonderment, not quite sure why I can't totally find my voice. I reached out and carefully took the pendant into my palm. I looked up at his with many unanswered questions, hoping that he'll answer them.
"It's the key to my heart." he explained and leaned in to kiss me lightly on the lips as his left hand is resting securely over his heart pendant.
"See, in Ireland, there's a bridge. I can't quite remember the name of it." he squints his eyes as if he's trying really hard to remember it. "But anyway, lovers walk over this bridge and lock a padlock around the trellis of the bridge. They take the key and throw it into the water. It's called a 'love lock." he smiles. "This isn't really like that, but it is I guess. See, I'm not good with words, I mumble a lot..." I cut him off with a kiss. He's the most amazing boy that I think I have ever met.
"It's beautiful. I love it!" I whispered near tears. "Would you?" I asked him nodding my head towards his hand holding the necklace. He nodded and lifted the necklace to my neck and as he's clasping the clasp, he says, "You know, if the initials of both people are on the love lock, they're said to stay together forever. Their love is locked" He turned over the key where I saw a beautiful "W+S" engraved on it. I started to tremble at the enormity of what Sonny has just said to me. He has essentially said he wants us to be together forever. I want that too.
My hand, as if it had a mind of it's own, reached up to the beautiful necklace resting on my heart. My fingers wrapped themselves around the key and I closed my eyes, just taking in what has just happened. I'm not sure how to speak at this moment. I looked to Sonny and as I took a closer look, his pendant has "S+W" engraved on it as well.
"Sonny? Sonny look at me." I said and tilted his head up so that he's forced to look me in the eyes.
(Sonny's POV)
"Sonny? Sonny look at me." I heard him saying as I took a deep breath and open my eyes, which I didn't realize were closed.
"I love this, I love you." Will leaned in and kisses me so passionately that I thought my knees were going to buckle. His arms slidded down my arms, so slow, so feather light that it catches every touch of my skin on fire. They finally land on my hips as he deepened the kiss. Finally, when he broke the kiss, he leaned his forehead against mine; breathing hard, desperately trying to catch his breath.
"Sonny, I will always love you. I will love you until the day that I die. And then, my love for you will still go on. I promise you Sonny." My heart started beating fast. I think he made a declaration of love, like I was trying to do.
"And one day, if you want to, we could go to Ireland and find your bridge. Maybe take a lock with our initials and give the bridge a new love to look over. Would you like that?" Will gave me a small peck on the nose, causing heat to rise up in my neck. I can tell that I'm blushing, but I don't care.
"So we can be love locked?" I asked hopefully.
"We already are love, we already are."
Will wrapped his arms around my waist again, and pulled me tightly against his chest, I wasn't sure that I could breathe properly; but I loved it. I loved every moment he touched me, every kiss, every hug, just every moment that I can be with Will, I loved.
He started to slowly sway his hips again to a new slow song that has came on. "I love you." I whispered and rested my head against his shoulder again. I could hear his heart beating as I took a deep breath. I never knew it was this easy to love someone.
"I love you too." I hear him whisper back to me, and I smiled to myself. I smiled because I'm finally happy, finally complete. I'm in love with a boy and I've never been so happy in my entire life.
To Be Continued...OXO
