Don't worry, I'm not dead. Sorry that this has taken 3 months, but I've been incredibly busy. Thank you for being patient and for all of the reviews!

21: Final Sacrifice

Amy staggered backwards until her back hit the glass tube she was imprisoned in. Her vision cleared and she could see the half destroyed lab in front of her again. All this time…it was Levina. Amy couldn't bring herself to fully comprehend what she had just remembered. Her emotions were all over the place, churning around in her stomach, making her feel sick.

"It was you." Amy whispered in a barely audible voice, but Levina managed to hear it as she merely sighed in response.

Amy finally managed to bring herself to look up. Her eyes immediately gravitated towards Sonic, who was still trapped against the wall, looking at her with an emotion she had never seen before. He looked…not quite sympathetic, but like he had witnessed her death first hand. It looked like he was seeing her in a different light and something else was burning in his green eyes…something that she couldn't quite place. She swore she had seen it before whenever he looked at her, but this was much more intense; almost like he had embraced something he was holding back.

"Yes, it was me." Levina stated flatly and Amy's eyes snapped towards her psychotic sister. "You got in the way. You were always getting in the way and still do so now."

"Why?" Amy managed to gasp out as her heart pounded fearfully. "Why are you doing all this?"

Levina sat gently down in Eggman's desk chair and crossed her legs and pursed her lips as she stared down at Amy, still vulnerably pressed against the glass tube.

"It's simple really." Levina began explaining as if it was obvious. "I think mortals began to get too full of themselves. They began abusing the power of the chaos emeralds, gifts that we had so generously given them, yet they didn't use them to help people as intended. They just wanted the power for themselves and for evil purposes." She purposefully shot a glare towards Eggman's unconscious body. "Mortals need a strong leader and I thought I would be suited for the job, being the eldest hypernova sister; not many people agreed."

"I wonder why." Sonic muttered sarcastically, but Levina ignored him.

"Anyone who opposed me, I didn't see worthy of life. I kept it a secret from my sisters because I knew they'd be against me until I could find the right moment to prove how horrible the mortals really were. Of course then that stupid prophecy was made and with you being the most…rambunctious, people immediately thought it was you who was causing all the disappearances. Added to the evidence that I had lured them into the forests which was your territory. I hid you away to prevent them from coming after you, but also to stop you from finding out what I was doing. I began to clearly see that my sisters would never side with me as I found out you had all been helping mortals out in secret so I ran up to the mountains to gather my followers and begin the takeover by force. Then you just had to interfere. I didn't mean to kill you."

"Oh sure, and that makes it ok." Amy snapped as tears began to fall down her cheeks.

The chaos emeralds around Amy began to shine brightly for a split second before they dimmed again. Levina didn't pay any attention to them.

"I felt so awful seeing your dead body at the bottom of the mountain, but I couldn't risk you ruining my plans so as your spirit escaped from your body, I quickly captured it in a glass seal and hid it away in the mountain so that you would never be reincarnated into an immoral body. Then this fat idiot came along," She gestured to Eggman with a disgusted expression, "And released you. Your spirit was so badly damaged from the imprisonment that you could only be reincarnated into a mortal body and you had no memories of everything, yet you still had your powers. Why, I may never know. But what matters is now you will only get in the way again. Your mortal body can't handle the powers that only an immortal body can possess, but I can. With your power added to my own, I will finally be able to bring order to this planet. With the power of the chaos emeralds and this machine that Eggman has built, I can absorb your powers quickly and easily. The catch is you will be erased from existence, but these things happen."

"Over my dead body." Sonic thrashed about as Levina recharged the machine.

Levina snapped her head around to smirk at him. "Wait your turn boy. As soon as I'm done with my dear sister here, then you and I can have a re-match."

She shot a lightning bolt and hit Sonic directly in the chest causing him to yell in agony and fall limp, panting as he tried to recover. He had to save Amy, if it was the last thing he did.

Amy's panicked eyes found their way back to Sonic as he hung limply on the wall with the bolts of energy still wrapped tightly around him, preventing him from doing anything. The machine had nearly charged and Levina was bouncing in anticipation. She had to do something. If Levina absorbed her powers then she would win and there would be nothing anyone could do to stop her. She may hate having her powers but she would rather she kept hold of them than let Levina get her murderous hands on them.

Amy stared at the chaos emeralds and realised what she had to do. It was worth the risk.

"AMY! NO!" Sonic yelled as he looked up and realised what Amy was planning.

She squeezed her eyes closed as tightly as possible and braced herself for the amount of power that was about to hit her. She had no other choice. She ignored Sonic's pleas as she said the words that would seal her fate.

"Chaos control."

Even though she had never done this before, the power seemed to willingly flow into her. It felt amazing; almost like stepping into a warm relaxing bath. A comforting and reassuring bubble. She felt her head hurt slightly but ignored it as she focused on the task at hand.

"What?" Levina gasped out as she wondered how stupid Amy could actually be.

The glass around Amy smashed into millions of dust sized pieces as a golden aura surrounded her. Her eyes melted from their usual soft, jade green into hard, furious red. Her quills curled upwards as she levitated a few feet off the ground, the power now fully absorbed into her body and glared up at her sister.

"If you think I'm going to continue to be the pushover damsel in distress then you have another thing coming!" Amy snapped as she clenched her fists.

Levina's shocked expression quickly twisted into one of blood thirsty rage. "You always never did as you were told."

"Care to finish our original battle dear sister?" Amy mocked her tone from earlier.

"With pleasure." Levina smiled smugly. "A super state mortal? This might actually nearly be a challenge."

Without warning, Levina shot a powerful lightning bolt towards Amy which she managed to dodge by flying upwards. In her haste Amy flew too fast and collided painfully with the thick metal walls of the lab causing Levina to laugh.

"Still haven't got the hang of flying yet." Amy muttered. This super state was harder than it looked. Sonic and Shadow always made it look so easy.

"AMY, JUST LET GO OF YOUR SUPER STATE OTHERWISE – "

"Silence boy!" Levina barked as she shot a powerful bolt of lightning, cutting Sonic off as he screamed in pain before hanging limp and unconscious.

Amy screamed in terror and anger at the sight of her unconscious hero.

"You'll pay for that!" Amy yelled as she felt her hands instinctively charge up with energy which she shot directly at the purple hedgehog who yelped in pain and surprise before she shot another bolt of lightning directly at Amy's chest.

The force knocked Amy backwards, sending her crashing into the metal walls of the base which collapsed loudly on impact. The metal screeched as it caved under the force and Amy landed face first onto the ground which was slowly being soaked with rain from the powerful storm that raged above them. Lightning flashed brightly across the sky before a loud clap of thunder caused Amy to look up. Levina hovered a few feet above her and sneered down at her.

"Oh how the mighty have fallen." She shook her head in mock disappointment.

Amy growled and pushed herself off the muddy ground, flying up towards her divine psychotic sister, punching her in the face and quickly flew a few feet away to place some distance between them.

"We'll see about that." Amy replied, smirking. "That one was for Sonic."

Levina stared at her in shock and she wiped golden coloured blood away from her nose before her face twisted into a murderous glare. She held her hands out in front of her before twisting them around each other faster and faster. Dust and debris began collecting on the ground beneath them and a small funnel sunk down from the dark clouds above them, increasing in size. Amy shielded her face from the intense wind that was building up before she felt herself being sucked into the forming tornado.

As she was being dragged towards it, Levina laughed but soon gasped as Amy grabbed hold of her arm as the powerful twister sucked her in and dragged Levina in with her.

Levina let out a shriek as she kicked Amy in the shin in an attempt to get away, but Amy clung on as the tornado twirled them around at high speeds. Amy could barely hear anything over the roar of the wind and couldn't see much past the end of her nose due to the all the dust. Amy threw punches and shot energy in random directions, hoping to hit Levina.

Levina managed to wrestle her arm free and managed to land a punch on Amy's face.

"No one punches me!" Levina yelled over the roar of the wind. "Enough of this nonsense!"

Amy screamed as she was flung out of the tornado and collided painfully with a rocky wall which cracked on impact. The tornado disappeared and Levina floated gracefully down and stood in front of her. Amy glared up at her while Levina just smirked before admiring the landscape.

"This is the very place you tried to stop my plans before. How ironic that you will once again meet your fate here for disobeying me." She chuckled.

"Actually it's poetic justice." Amy growled as she quickly flew up, taking in the view of the mountain range she recognised from her flashback earlier. "It will only be ironic if I defeat you here." She added before suddenly screaming in pain as Levina shot lightning at her.

"We'll see about that." She snapped as she shot at her again.

This time Amy managed to fly out of the way. She noticed a tree branch sticking out of the rocky wall. Concentrating hard, Amy forced it to grow in size and the branch soon wiped around and caught Levina in a firm grip. Levina shrieked and tried to push herself free and Amy landed back on the ground to look up at her.

"Why don't you just give up and turn yourself in." Amy frowned as she tried to reason with her. "I know you can't be all bad. You loved me…once. Surely you can be like that again. Yeah people may be selfish and abuse power, but deep down, everyone still has good in them and I know you do too. You can stop all of this."

Levina glared down at her before Amy suddenly gasped and doubled over in pain. It felt like some huge force was pressing against her head and it felt like she would explode at any moment. It was like how she felt after using the emerald at Twinkle Park…only this time it was much worse.

Levina chuckled at the sight. "Looks like you don't have a lot of time left. The power of the emeralds will tear your soul to shreds in no time. It's a shame that I won't be able to gain your powers, but at least you'll be out of the picture and won't ruin my plans anymore."

Amy dizzily looked up at her, her eyes burned as they drooped sleepily and soon the burning spread throughout her whole body. It felt like she had walked directly into a fire only no physical wounds appeared. It was all going on inside her as her fragile soul began to slowly tear apart. She could hear her own heartbeat as she dug her fingers into the earth, beginning to lose her grip on life.

The branch holding Levina loosened and Amy let out an ear-splitting cry of agony. Levina just stared down at her as if she the most pathetic creature she'd ever seen before kicking her hard in the ribs.

"Why couldn't you ever just do as you're told? We could've been the queens of this stupid planet, but you just had to side with the enemy." She reached down and picked Amy up by her collar, her stormy eyes burning into Amy's pain filled green ones. "You loved mortals too much for your own good. Now you can die like a mortal!"

Levina flung Amy backwards and she screamed as she lost her balance on the edge of the cliff. She fell but managed to cling onto some rocks that were sticking out on the ledge. Amy continued to weakly cling on as she dangled off the edge, unable to fly in her pained state as the power of the chaos emeralds continued to slowly rip her apart and drained her of her powers.

"I do believe this is also the mountain were a portal to our mother's dimension opens." Levina laughed as she pointed to the chasm below. They were so high up, Amy could barely see the ground as she looked down, her grip on the ledge loosening. "I wonder what that crazy lady will do to your dead body. Maybe stuff it and put it on display?"

One of Amy's hands slipped and Levina noticed, quickly stepping on the hand that remained clinging to the cliff. Tears streamed down Amy's face as she realised that this was the end for her. Through the pain, she managed to think of Sonic's face. She'd never truly told him she loved him. She'd never kissed him and now she never would. This was it.

Her vision blurred as the pain got worse, but she just managed to make out five bright lights appearing behind Levina. Levina snapped her head around, her foot stepping off Amy's burning fingers and gasped in surprise.

"What are you cowards doing here? You were in hiding!" Levina shrieked in surprise. "Wait…w-what are you doing?!"

The bright lights seemed to easily pick Levina up off the ground and carried her into the air.

"Unhand me now! I beg of you as a sister. Release me! Nooooooo!" Levina continued to scream and thrash around, but the powerful forced wouldn't let go. The lights dragged her down into the chasm before an icy wind appeared and froze Levina in a block of ice. The powerful force seemed to let go and Levina fell down and down into the chasm before vanishing through the open portal and into the monster's dimension.

The lights seemed to float towards Amy who through the pain, shrieked in fear before the lights disappeared as she felt something grab onto her hand. Amy screamed and thrashed around as she was pulled up and back onto the top of the cliff before something wrapped her in its warm embrace.

"Sssh, Amy, everything's ok now. It's just me." A familiar voice comforted her.

"S-Sonic." Amy stuttered as her legs collapsed in pure agony. "The pain."

She could just about make out Sonic's blue shape and fearful eyes through her fading vision. He must've woken up and escaped before managing to find her. She tried to cling onto him with her last amount of strength. She wanted his face to be the last face she saw before she faded out of existence.

"I n-n-need to t-tell you somthin'" Amy managed to gasp out.

"No no no Amy!" Sonic begged. "You ain't going anywhere. You're going to live and you're going to be running about in no time, annoying me and being part of my team again and defeating Egghead. You need to release the chaos emeralds' power."

"Can't" Amy managed to wheeze out.

Sonic began panicking as he supported all of Amy's weight as she looked to be battling to cling on to the last pieces of her life. If Amy couldn't get rid of the power then surely there'd be a way that Sonic could absorb it from her. Chaos emeralds thrived on powerful emotions. Sonic raked his brain for the most powerful and positive emotion that he could think of in order to absorbs the emeralds from her.

His heart thudded in his chest as he thought about how close she was to death – or more accurately, a fate worse than death. The thought of living without her…

That's it!

Amy let out a weak whimper as she nuzzled her face into Sonic's chest one last time as she could feel her heartbeat slowing down. She was fighting for consciousness as she felt Sonic's fingers reach under her chin to make her up at him and into his beautiful green eyes. His face leaned closer to hers and that's the last thing Amy remembered before everything went dark.

I'll update as soon as I possibly can which might actually be pretty soon seen as Christmas is coming up. Also, what is your opinion on the new Sonic Boom games and TV show? I wasn't too keen on Rise of Lyric as the frame rate on my copy was really bad. I haven't played Shattered Crystal yet so I don't know about that one, but I am so in love with the TV show. What do you guys think? Feel free to leave a review.
