Mycroft and John's first meeting again! It's when Mycroft tells John he expects a "happy announcement" by the end of the week.

This one gave me a hard time to finish, I hope it turned out alright.

Disclaimer: If I owned it, then this would have been in the show, not on fanfiction!

Mycroft straightened and looked over his nose at John, "What is your connection to Sherlock Holmes?"

"I don't have one. I barely know him, I met him" John frowned at his own answer "...yesterday."

"Mmm, and since yesterday you've moved in with him and now you're solving crimes together." Mycroft listed, then he smirked, "Might we expect a happy announcement by the end of the week?"

"Is it his birthday on the weekend?" John asked astonished.

"Whose birthday?" Mycroft asked perplexed.

"Sherlock's birthday, is it on the weekend?"

"No, his birthday has passed, it was in early January." Mycroft then collected himself and slipped back into his imperious persona, "Why on earth are we talking about Sherlock's birthday?"

"You just said that you expected a happy announcement by the end of the week. It wasn't my birthday, so I assumed it was Sherlock's. I thought you meant that news would be announced." John explained.

"No, that was not what I meant by a happy announcement." Mycroft drawled.

"Too bad, I was looking forward to throwing him a party and inviting his friends over." John remarked.

"I don't know if you have noticed, but he doesn't have many friends."

"Then we'll invite his enemies and play murder mystery!" John said with a grin.

Mycroft rolled his eyes, "Well, fortunately your plans would have to wait for a few months."

"Yeah…so it's not a birthday-" John mused.

"What is confusing you?" Mycroft asked.

"I'm trying to figure out the happy announcement. So birthday is out, he seems to be way passed the age for graduation-"

"He's not that old, he could be studying for a PhD." Mycroft threw in, just to gauge John's reaction.

"He already has a job as a consulting detective. Besides, he's not exactly the academia type; he has too much contempt for authority." John reasoned, "He didn't seem the father type either."

"Father type?" Mycroft asked alarmed. The mere thought of it nearly sent him into a panic attack!

"Yeah, I don't think there would be any new born babies around Baker Street anytime soon." John contemplated.

"Let me give you a hint," Mycroft sad with a glint in his eyes, "It involves both of you."

John looked at him for a bit, "You don't mean our moving in to the flat, do you?"

"No, think harder." Mycroft urged.

John pondered the matter for a few moments, "Oh!" He exclaimed, realization dawning on him. Mycroft smirked, waiting for the tirade. John looked straight at him, "I only accompanied him to a crime scene once, I'm not sure if we're considered in the same business together yet."

Mycroft controlled his growing impulse to slap his own forehead.

John looked at him, a mischievous glint in his eyes, "You're probably right, it'll all be sorted by the end of the week. If we do end up sharing the business, I'll send you our business card!"

Mycroft was speechless

John smirked at him, "Can I go now?"

I'm thinking that it was a good thing I don't own the show, otherwise Mycroft's meeting with John and the drug squad would have taken up an hour each! ;)

Thoughts?

Edit: It seems John's last comment was a little vague, so I changed it. John leads Mycroft to believe that he thought the 'happy announcement' is going to be him and Sherlock sharing the crime solving business!
