[Wow, it has been a hell of a long time since I updated, sorry about that folks. I just graduated from high school so things got crazy as shit for a long fucking time. Anyway, heres the next chapter, and their should be more to come soon!]

Cloud nine can suck it.

Hikaru was higher than cloud nine could ever be. He had to force himself to stop exactly six times, because he realized (embarrassingly enough) he was skipping. Skipping across the fucking street towards his home. You ever seen a half-demon skip? Its exactly as hilarious as you would think, enjoy that image.

Anyway… Currently Hikaru stood outside their rotting house fighting back a nearly permit blush that had taken root on his cheeks. Slightly trembling fingers raked back loose strands of hair that Hikaru couldn't help but notice were almost completely red. He took a deep breath, then two, then another for good measure before finally opening the front door.

Even the harsh smell of molding wood and the decay of fresh blood couldn't damper the glow Hikaru emanating. Kyoya noticed immediately, and a smirk slithered across his lips.

He rose from his place on the bed, striding from the bedroom into the hall. He heard Hikaru's come to a halt in response to his own. He had to repress a chuckle, arriving at the top of the staircase, looking down at the strawberry blonde blushing below him.

"Where have you been?"

Hikaru rolled his eyes at the question.

"As if you don't know."

Kyoya let a knowing smile surface across his expression. The wood groaned under his weight as he took a single step down.

"Don't be like that Hikaru I'm only curious as to how your special night went."

Hikaru glared at him.

"What do you want?"

Kyoya sighed, taking a moment to clean off glasses, adjusting them slowly on his face so he could hear Hikaru's steady heartbeat increase rapidly inside his chest and see the war his face waged to conceal this fact.

"I'm hungry." He finally broke the silence.

Hikaru cocked his head at him.

"It's early morning, someone will see me."

"Well then," Kyoya smirked. "I guess you'll just have to be extra careful then, won't you?"

Hikaru gave the man a searing look before darting away in a blink, the window panes rattling with his hasty exit. Kyoya watched him go, a deep frown beginning to form on his face.

"Did you see that?"

The frown grew into an outright scowl at the shrill voice taking up residence in his ear. He stared straight ahead out of malice but the corner of his eyes couldn't help but notice the way bleeding shadows sprinted horridly across the chipping wood floorings, racing to a check point grounded behind his figure. He strode down the staircase, about half way down another set of clinking boots began to follow him.

"He barely had a single black hair on his head! And I could actually see him leave! That's how slow he was."

"I am well aware of that Pride, I was in the room as well." Kyoya drolled, not bothering to even face the young demon perched on the bottom step.

She reached out to place a hand on the railing, but reared away in hatful disgust at the small layer of dust copied onto her fingertips the second they touched the aging wood. Her attention eventually turned back to Kyoya, having wiped the dust on her black dress.

"You know that boy you let go, what was his name…. Mori? It was the same with him after he met that littler boy. He got slower and eventually you could actually feel his blood beginning to circulate in him again."

"I am well aware of what happened to Mori; I am the one who kicked him out." Kyoya snapped.

"Then why in the world aren't you doing anything Greed?! You know Hikaru could end up the same way… human."

Kyoya suddenly whipped around to face her, eyes blazing with unholy fire. His voice came out like a thick blanket covering one's face and twisting behind the neck to prevent escape.

"He will not become human. I have wasted too much time and waited around far too long to lose him now and I won't be losing him any time soon."

His voice was low but Renge could hear every word out of him and couldn't help the shudder that passed through her.

"These are different times Kyoya. The same taboos that existed back then do not exist today. That little boy of Hikaru's might actually chose Hikaru over his girlfriend."

Kyoya merely gave a solid nod to her observation, letting his feet carry him over to the nearest window. Just beyond the crusted dust of the pane glass laid that royal estate, looking back at Kyoya with a dull gaze that mocked the heat his own held. He slipped his glasses from his face once more, noticing a slight smudge in the corner he quickly stroked away with the tail of his shirt. He only spoke once they were returned to his skull.

"Maybe for some people."

"What?"

Kyoya spoke but not for the purpose of answering her question.

"There are still some out there that the same taboos still exist."

Renge's boots clicked across splintered wood, guiding her to a place beside the older demon.

"You already looked into the father, as much as you would like him to he doesn't hate homosexuals."

"No-" Kyoya stole a glance at her before his gaze returned to the window. "But he does want an heir."

"I'm not following."

"That isn't the least bit shocking."

Renge glared at him, but kept her mouth shut as she waited for Kyoya to go on.

"Kaoru's father has only one child, that one child of course being Kaoru. His father has no brothers or sisters of his own, no one to take over the company when he dies except Kaoru and if Kaoru doesn't produce an heir, his company, everything he and his wife built will be put in the hands of incapable, inferior, strangers."

Renge gave a half smile. "If their son was gay, he wouldn't produce any heirs."

"Correct."

"Kaoru could alway adopt."

"That would be frowned upon as well in his father's eyes. Kaoru did not come into this world easily, there were complications in getting his mother pregnant and they ended up spending millions of dollars just to have him. Adoption is not his his wheelhouse."

"Alright, I still don't see how this prevents Hikaru from becoming human."

Kyoya glares at the mansion just across the road.

"To get Hikaru exactly where I want him he has to envy Haruhi. To do that Kaoru must be reminded how much his father would hate him if he were gay and how much he thinks loves Haruhi."

"How will you do that?"

"Well the first part is easy, all I have to do is make Kaoru's father bring up homosexuals and Kaoru will be scared straight. However that's not enough for Kaoru to stay with Haruhi. I could smell it on Hikaru, Kaoru likes him too much for that. So I'll have to make Kaoru hate Hikaru, and go running back to Haruhi."

"But they're madly in love." Renge mocks with a roll of her eyes. "How will you get Kaoru to hate him?"

Kyoya lets himself pause for a moment. "Well, we could always accomplish the first task and see if it leads us into the next."

He smiles at her, letting her see every intention written across his face, printed in the glare of his glasses. She's too busy trying not to crumple under his icy heat to notice the pitch black shadows, slithering towards them with faint whispers of horrid shrieks.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Kyoya grumbled under his breath, his voice just a touch icier and a dial down deeper. Renge took a thick notice.

Her eyes began to swim around her skull, taking careful survey of every shadow manifesting into this plain. Once they appeared they seemed to ripple for a moment, as if to get use to being real. A small whimper, or maybe a cry is let out before they go rocketing towards Kyoya, gathering in the long shadow at his feet. The shadow thinned itself at its host feet, pooling deeper and deeper into shades of jet black.

Renge cleared her throat. She never once let her head turn towards the shadows, manifesting all around the room, the walls the floors, ceilings, like leeches that could pounce. She never once allowed Greed to see the respectful fear beginning to boil inside of her.

"Wouldn't it just be easier-" she paused for a moment, taking notice of the ripples in her voice and allowing herself a moment to let them dissipate. "-just to remind this Kaoru of how much he loves his girlfriend."

"It would," Kyoya snarks, "if he actually loved her."

"You're saying he loves Hikaru? Like actually loves him?"

Kyoya adjusts his glasses then turns to her with a smile that could melt hearts if he had one himself.

"Yes. Why that is exactly what I am saying. But love is irrelevant when you are dealing with me."

The shadow at Kyoya's feet grew sharp, all the other shadows around the room having dissipated into its cool center.

Renge took a sidestep away from Kyoya.

The thing at his feet seem to breathe.

Kyoya turned, and his shadow did not turn with him. Instead it lay like a still pool below his feet.

"Thank you for stopping by Renge, we'll be seeing you quite soon."

With that, Kyoya took a single step forward and the pool swallowed him whole, drinking him up like a lake would an anchor.

Renge watched, to make sure, just to be safe, as the pool chased after Kyoya, disappearing into nothing.
