Chapter 21

Hello guys and gals, hope you like the story so far, now let's just get to the story.

A bright light illuminated the night sky. The soldiers stopped in their tracks and looked towards the light. As quickly as it had appeared it disappeared. Murmurs were heard between the soldiers, all discussing what the light was.

"Sir, it is most likely a trap" a soldier said to the commander of the group. The commander thought for a moment, putting his head through all kinds of scenarios, trying to explain what the light could have been.

He had been in the middle of eating when the light appeared. As he turned and looked in the direction of the light, he felt compelled to venture there.

"I'll take a small party with me, we'll move undetected" he decided as he turned to his right hand man.

He told the right hand to fetch three soldiers that would accompany him. The soldiers stood ready not more than two minutes later.

They walked through the night and finally reached the meadow just as it turned twilight. Yet they found the meadow empty and untouched. As if the light they saw last night had just been an illusion.

Yet the commander felt that something had happened here, and somehow it told him to not be afraid, but to be brave.

He stepped into the meadow. As he did, the vision changed. No longer the untouched meadow he had seen before, but now it was filled with death. There was still no one else but him, the soldiers that accompanied him, had yet walked into the meadow with him. The flowers had all withered away, and the grass was black and wrong.

As he neared the middle of the meadow he saw the air shimmer. What was that? He thought as he stretched his arm out to touch the shimmering. Before he could react the shimmering took hold of his arm. He trashed loudly and tried to pull himself free, yet the shimmering was stronger.

The soldiers heard the commanders cries, and ran to his aid. However, before they got there he was gone. The shimmering in the air was nowhere to see. The commander was simply gone.

"Commander" they yelled to no avail.

Everything turned black and the commander felt his insides being turned inside out. After what felt like days he finally opened his eyes and looked around. To his surprise he was in a small room, with artifacts that he had never before seen among others that he had no knowledge of.

"Ah, commander I see you're finally here" a dark, strong voice sounded, seemingly from everywhere.

"Who are you? Where am I?" The commander asked, looking around trying to see if he could find the person to whom the voice belonged.

From out of a shadow a tall, dark man stepped forth. "I am the one that will rule it all, " he said, a creepy grin spreading across his face.

"I bring a gift to you, I know of your ambition and I will grant you the power to conquer the world, in my name!" The dark man said, the grin only growing wider.

This offer sparked the commanders greed and lust for power. Unknown to him the dark man whispered into him, the very idea of accepting the offer. The commander never had a choice, at least not that he knew of.

"I accept the gracious offer, my lord, " the commander said, adding the last part as he offered his very being to this dark being.

The dark man placed two fingers on this forehead and muttered in a language far older than any he had ever heard of. This was the language from which all others derived. The language of the true Gods.

The commander felt the power within himself and he felt himself change to accompany this power.

"Now, go forth and spread my name, and your terror, my servant" the dark man said as the world once again turned dark and the commander felt nothing this time. The power he had gained from his dark master, negated the effect of the travel.

The commander was once again in his own world, much to the surprise of his fellow soldiers.

"Commander, are you alright, Sir" one of the soldiers asked.

A terrifying grin spread across his face "I have never been better, now It's time that we claim what is rightfully ours" followed by a menacing laugh. The soldiers took a step back and looked at each other unsure of their commander, for the first time in their service.

*** Back to Percy a couple of years later ***

The arrow was embedded through his leg and into the earth. He after realizing what arrow it was, knew that he wasn't going anywhere.

He waited for the woman to arrive as she was the only one who could free him.

The woman had long dark hair, her eyes pierced his, searching for any information they might reveal.

"Could you please remove the arrow?" Percy asked the woman.

"Who are you?" She simply asked. Rose, who was at Percy's side also recognized the woman and didn't attack the woman. She simply sat at Percy's side waiting.

The woman looked at the black lion, nervous as she had never before seen a black lion.

The woman turned her gaze once more to Percy, who had yet to respond to her question.

After all, he wasn't sure if he should tell her his real name, or whether he should give another.

He decided that it was better to give her another, although he didn't want to lie to her, he felt it was necessary.

"I'm Shadow, now please remove this chaotic arrow" Percy said.

"How do you know of chaotic silver?" She asked, surprised and alert, arrow already notched on her bow.

Percy facepalmed as he forgot, that there shouldn't be any who knew of chaotic silver. He had only learned of it, after he met Chaos. He had only met one person back in time, and he had already accomplished to screw it up.

With a sigh, he decided to tell the truth, at least some of it.

"I know who you are, Xena" Percy looked her in the eyes. She looked at him with surprise. Percy continued "I take it you know Chaos?" He asked.

"Yes, but how do you know her?" Xena asked back still alert, as she was the only one who should know about Chaos.

"I.. can't tell you that, I promised to keep that a secret, but she was the one who gave me Rose here" he said and gestured to Rose. Xena looked at the lion. Rose moved towards Xena and began to purr and rubbing herself on Xena. Somehow it felt familiar, or something she didn't quite understand yet.

"Alright, I'll believe you, but know that Chaos and I, are very good friends" Xena said trying to make a threat. Percy simply laughed and almost whispered "Trust me, I know". "What did you say?" She asked him, to which he quickly responded "Nothing".

Later that night, Xena and Percy sat around a campfire with Rose lying at Xena's side trying to play with her. Xena rubbed her behind the ears. Xena kept looking at Percy feeling something familiar, as if he was family, yet that couldn't be the case.

Percy asked her what she was doing here, and discovered that she was hunting a group of people who terrorized the country in the name of some new God. She told him that their leader was crazy strong, like nothing she had faced before.

"I'll help you" Percy finally decided much to the surprise of Xena. "Are you sure? He's strong you might die." Xena said, Percy nodded "don't worry, I can take care of myself".

They both laid down to get some sleep, this time Rose laid beside Percy to protect him if needed.

Something in the forest moved away from its hiding place, as the two went to sleep.
