Collette POV (District 2)
It's time to show what I'm made of.
I've spent the last two weeks training in the Capitol Training Room and now the Gamemakers have called us all to be judged. Training was more difficult than I had originally thought. We had to run, fight with swords, memory tests, learn the basic survival skills and any imaginable activity or event that could pop up in the arena. Abram, Knox, Piper and myself have barely trained or spent time together since we started – it's generally known that we'll be depending on each other once the Games start. After maybe the first few days, we all asked to be trained separately and booked times away from each other. Even though more than one tribute can win for the same district, we can't really trust each other. It only takes one person left standing for the Games to officially end and being the sole tribute is more tempting for those who have trained their entire lives to compete in the Games. Having to share the title might not be the ideal focus for some tributes.
The day starts early in the morning as each district makes their way to the Training Centre. Being from District 2, I'm one of the first few tributes to be judged and meet with the Gamemakers. Each tribute gets maybe 10 minutes to prove why they deserve a high score by performing their best skill. A higher score earns more notoriety and sponsors take notice for potentially helping out in the arena. Earn a low score and you could be forgotten like that – two years ago a tribute from District 1 was highly anticipated to win the Games. He performed terribly in the Training Centre and scored well below Career status; he obviously didn't win.
I step out of the elevator and the Peacekeepers lead me to the room. Lights flicker on and I can see the Gamemakers are already sitting at their designated Area. My District Mentor asked me which skill I wanted to show off and I thought long and hard: knife-throwing. I stepped toward the pedestal and introduced myself; several stand up and take notice. My presumed Career status and being from District 2 draws more attention than if I were from one of the weaker districts. I wouldn't call myself a Career, I'm my own person and whatever I do in the arena will be my decision alone.
Several tiny blades outline the top of the pedestal. I pick one up of the blades and press the flashing green button for the simulation to begin. Lights start flashing and an outline of a male tribute appears, running across the Training Centre. I throw the blade and it lands directly at his neck; another figure appears and I throw the next blade. A few minutes go by and I've managed to hit almost every target on the first few tries. The simulation ends and a few of the Gamemakers start clapping; one of them dismisses me from the room.
I hope they give me a good enough score.
The Capitol TV POV
*Cue Capitol TV theme music*
"Welcome to the 250th Hunger Games pre-series! My name is Eragon Moore and I'll be your presenter throughout this year's Hunger Games and Quarter Quell season. Gossip, dirt and more –I'm ready to bring you all the hottest news about our 48 scandalous tributes! Unfortunately for this year, Katsia Ronyn will not be returning as my co-host but we do have a very special guest to help throughout the season. He's the man with the personality to spare and a returning face to the Hunger Games series, Tobias Hammersmith!"
"Hello Eragon! It's great to be back after all these years to judge and critique these tributes for another Quarter Quell."
"After your retirement, it's not been the same with you."
"Thank you but while I was still gone, I've kept an eye on the tributes and their progress. For the new viewers we have this year, the tributes spent the last few weeks training and improving their skills to impress the Gamemakers and earn a high training score."
"And that day is today. We will find out how each tribute has been scored based on their training skills and performance. The Gamemakers will mark each tribute with a score of 1 to 12 based on their individual performances in the training room. Remember the highest and best score that any tribute should strive for is 12; anything too low and you could be in for a world of trouble."
"Absolutely! Your training score can do wonders to impress the sponsors."

"What do you think Tobias?"
"Surprising! A lot of these scores for certain tributes are really hard to believe."
"We'll never see what they did in the Training Centre but whatever they did, they must impressed or made a fool of themselves. Now with all the scores tabulated and revealed, the current stage of training is now over. Tune-in tomorrow or join us at the Capitol Square when I'll be interviewing all the tributes. My name's Eragon Moore and this has been the 250th Hunger Games training reveal."
