It was the day they were finding out the gender. They were both nervous, but also excited to see what their kid looked like now.
The doctor had come out to collect them a moment ago and Miranda and Gary waited in the room for him to return with his notes.
Gary was just trailing his fingers across the bump smiling to himself. Miranda was watching him, almost having to stop herself from crying. Stupid pregnancy hormones.
She found herself getting a whole lot more emotional about things. Just last week she cried over her fruit friends pretend funeral. Gary had told her that she needed to throw them out, because they started to smell funny. She had protested vigorously, but she knew it had to happen. The smell of Gordon had gotten a bit out of control, even the febreeze stopped working. She hadn't realised she had grown so attached.
Gary grabbed her hand when the Doctor came into the room.
"Ok Miranda this is your second scan. It's a bit later than usual, but everything so far is telling me the baby is healthy."He said smiling at the couple.
"Yes I've made sure she has eaten better. She did have three slices of cake the other week and some cheese cake on Monday, but she wouldn't shut up about it all day, so I caved." Gary said. Miranda was going to protest. That cheese cake had made her day. Even if Gary had to get up at one in the morning and drive to a shop to get her the cheese cake. It was worth every bite.
"That's OK a few treats won't do any harm, just don't make a habit out of it." The doctor said finding the couple amusing.
"Yeah, but it might do me in, She was asleep by the time I got back. I even tryed to wake her, she batted me out the way." Gary said. He did find it kind of adorible.
"So do we get to see the baby now?" Miranda asked, trying to change the subject.
"Yes I will sort it out now" the Doctor said smiling at them. He walked to the left side of the bed and sorted out the large machine so it was working. He then squeezed the ultrasound gel onto Miranda's stomach. He placed the wand onto Miranda's bump. The picture was vivid on the screen next to them.
"Oh my god"Miranda said, not knowing how to describe what she was feeling. Everything in her head just made sense now. She and Gary had actually created a life. That blob the screen was their blob to bring up. She looked at Gary with tears streaming down he face and a wide smile. The same exactly look on his face complete with the continuous tears. He leaned in and kissed her
hard on the mouth.
"When can we know the sex?" Gary asked after he broke away from Miranda. Still crying, but trying to remain in control.
"Usually at four to five months, I usually tell you. I can't tell right now. The baby is in a position where we can't see. If you want we can see, we can find out next time" He said. The couple nodded. now both engrossed in the picture on the screen.
"I know it's silly, because it's just a blob. Can I have a picture" Miranda asked, wanting to remember this moment forever.
"Sure I'll get one now, don't worry most new parents ask for a picture on their first scan" he said smiling making a few notes. He left Gary and Mirada in the room.
"That was the single most amazing thing I have ever seen" Gary said still stunned.
"It's the perfect blob" Miranda said smiling at Gary. He smiled back excited for there new adventure.
First scan hadn't gone as smoothly. They were both a worried mess. They didn't understand anything the nurses said to them. They had ended up in the wrong room and was found by their Doctor who was a little angry at the staff for not helping them a little more. It had been blatant to him that they were new to all of this. Clearly they were terrified. He guilted them back to the chair and had shown them the even small blob. It has made Miranda burst out sobbing and Gary couldn't hold it together long enough for them to ask if they could have a photo so Miranda had to make Gary leave to calm him down. She quickly cleaned most of the gel of and went to tend to her emotional deck of a boyfriends. It was strange but Miranda found Gary more attractive when he was blubbering like an idiot over the first sight of their baby. That was went they decided they wanted to know their baby's gender. Miranda really wanted to start buying things ready. Gary had been excited to decorate the baby's room when they had their own house. He wanted to show off his alpha male side.
After they received their photo, Miranda and Gary hurried to the shop to show Stevie.
"Stevie, Stevie, Stevie looky here" Miranda said, galloping towards her small friend and placed the photo on the counter.
"Oh my god Miranda this is amazing" Stevie said smiling widely. "Hey little Giranda" Stevie said.
"What did you just call our precious unborn child." Mirada said sarcastically serious.
"Giranda, it Gary and Miranda"Stevie said like made total sense.
"What about Mary or Ganda" Miranda said, realising what Stevie had done.
"Ganda yes very baby like" Gary said sarcastically
"And Giranda is?" Miranda said
"Good point, right I got to get back before the lunch rush. Stevie your in charge of making sure Miranda doesn't over we do herself." Gary insisted.
"That's easy she just sits around laughing at the customers. Now and again she lends a hand. She usually just scared off the customers" Stevie said. Miranda was going to protest, but she just settled on pushing Stevie over and walking to Gary.
"Ok I'm going now, you go up stairs and chill out." Gary said.
"Awe I was going to do Dinner" Miranda said a little sick of watching come dine with me reruns.
Stevie and Gary just both bust out laughing.
"You cooking. Miranda last time you ruined everything and just went to MS." Stevie said walking to her friend.
"I can cook, their was a lot of pressure then and I have learnt more whilst I was away" Miranda said confident of her skills.
"Ok babe whatever you say" Gary said still kind of laughing, hiding it badly.
"Don't you ' OK babe whatever you say me' That's it I'm going to get stuff you Dinner. Like it or not I'm cooking" Miranda said sweeping out of the room.
"Ok pregnant Miranda is determined" Steve said surprised.
"Well she It was kind of adorible though" Gary admitted then walked out the shop.
