Since the graduation it has been raining nonstop for days and Cavendish has had trouble trying to get Farul to go outside into the garden. Just like now.
His pedigree puppy hates getting his fur wet, and Cavendish understands that as he's the same with his hair. However, this problem has caused Farul to go to the toilet inside. Which has only made more problems. His poor puppy holds it in for as long as he can and Cavendish can see that he is in pain from doing so.
"Come on Farul. You need to go."
Bartolomeo runs past them and out the door. Normally Cavendish would be constantly watching him but he is more concerned with Farul right now.
Cavendish sighs as he looks outside at the pouring rain and steps outside.
"Farul. Please. Come here."
He makes his way further into the garden and tries his best to coax Farul outside.
Farul watches him curiously as he sits by the door then slowly puts one paw in front of the other. He jumps back slightly when he feels how wet the ground is but Cavendish encourages him to go further.
Eventually he makes it over to his owner but refuses to go on the wet and muddy grass.
Cavendish doesn't mind this and stays with Farul as he does his business. Once he is done the two of them head on over to the back door to go back inside.
Just as his hand touches the door handle to slide it open more he hears a loud splash.
Cavendish quickly turns around and he panics when he can't see Bartolomeo anywhere. He calls out for the pup and his eyes widen when Bartolomeo jumps out of a large puddle drenched in mud, making a run for the back door.
"N-No way!"
With Farul already inside Cavendish quickly shuts the back door before Bartolomeo can get in. He's rewarded with mud and water being shaken all over him and his clothes by Bartolomeo.
"Ugh! Gross!"
Cavendish grabs the garden hose which is rolled up and hung on the back of his house then proceeds to wash the mud off Bartolomeo. Much to his displeasure.
As he is already drenched himself, he picks up his pup and carries him inside.
"That's the last time I take my eye off you in the garden. You'll have to have a bath now.
Bartolomeo whines and struggles in Cavendish's arms to try and get down and escape his fate. However, his efforts go to waste as he's reluctantly brought into the bathroom and placed into the bath.
"Oi this is your own fault. If you didn't get so muddy you wouldn't need a bath."
Cavendish fills the bath with warm water, just enough to cover Bartolomeo's paws, then gets to work on washing him.
"And no messing about this time. The quicker this is done the sooner I can wash myself and get out of these wet clothes. Ugh. I stink just as bad as you."
Gently he washes the puppy's face, making sure not to get soap into Bartolomeo's eyes, then continues to bath him.
Once he has finished he grabs a towel after draining the tub then wraps the towel around Bartolomeo and picks him up. As he leaves the bathroom with his puppy in his arms he is shocked when Bartolomeo licks his cheek lovingly.
"Eh? You've never done that beforeā¦."
Cavendish smiles and pets the pup's head as he carries him to his bedroom. As soon as Bartolomeo is placed on the floor he makes a sprint for Cavendish's bed covers and pulls at them, attempting to drag them off and attack them.
"Well that didn't last long... Bartolomeo, stop that! Leave it alone!"
He makes a lunge for the pup but is just a second too slow and he berates himself for leaving his bedroom door open as Bartolomeo has made a break for it.
"No! Come back! You're trailing water everywhere!"
Cavendish grabs the towel he used earlier and runs after Bartolomeo. His disobedient puppy barks happily and wags his tail as he finds it fun to wind his owner up. Cavendish however is not having any fun at all.
"Oi! Stop! Bartolomeo, sit!"
He chases the puppy down the stairs and around the coffee table in the living room. He screeches when Bartolomeo jumps up onto his expensive white couch.
"No! Get down from there!"
Bartolomeo nuzzles against the couch cushions and Cavendish uses this as his chance to grab him with the towel.
"Got ya! Bad dog. The cushions are going to stink now."
Bartolomeo licks his cheek again just like he did before and Cavendish pouts as he carries the puppy back upstairs.
"That's not going to work with me. You're still in trouble. Once I've made sure you are dry you are going straight to bed."
His response brings more kisses from Bartolomeo in an attempt to win him over. It seems that this mischievous pup has found a new way to get one over on his owner. If it succeeds Cavendish is going to have another problem on his hands with this one. And he's going to do his best to not give in and let Bartolomeo win.
