Hi everyone,
Told you that updating late last night meant less time between that and this one!
No reviews again, which I'm not all that happy about, so I'm not sure I'll be updating over the next few days.
So this chapter shows how Jasper's perspective differs from Alice's with different/new experiences since Alice isn't around.
See you down below...
I could feel her.
She thought she was being stealthy, but her mate was an empath.
She was not fooling me, and from the looks on the faces of particularly Edward, she was not fooling him either.
It was the first time I had envied another for their gift.
But damn it all to hell, I wanted to know what my mate was thinking these past few days.
And it only got worse.
I could feel that devotional scheming of hers… the deception.
It worried me.
She was quiet at the moment, and it made me wonder.
One thing I had learned the very second I met her… my mate was not one to be quiet.
That knowledge combined with the knowledge of her scheming… it worried me immensely.
Just what was my lovely mate planning?
I felt her deception deepen as her resolve grew.
And then one day, she called for Mom.
She asked if she could spend some "mother-daughter time" with her.
I wavered upstairs, unsure of what to do, before quickly deciding I would simply wait upstairs.
I didn't want to be rude and interrupt.
So I simply waited, feeling her deception and resolve out, wondering what it could all mean.
We both knew that I didn't believe her when she came upstairs and explained that she wanted to get closer to our Mother figure.
But I accepted that she would tell me in her own time.
But I really did not wish to wait for them because I knew I would be contemplating my mate's deception the entire time.
So as soon as they left, I made my way to Edward and Carlisle, who were speaking in Carlisle's study.
I knocked on the door.
They answered for me to enter, and I nodded in greeting as I did so.
"I was wondering if you would accompany me on a short hunting trip. I would like to get to know you both."
They looked at one another, before smiling and nodding.
"That would be excellent, Jasper," Carlisle said with a smile. "Should we invite Emmett?"
I felt out for the man, but quickly cringed.
Edward and I laughed as we realized we both held the same expression on our faces, knowing what our 'brother' was currently up to.
"No," we laughed, Carlisle joining in as he listened out for his third son.
"All right then," Carlisle said, getting up from the desk. "How about we change clothes and leave in about five minutes?"
Edward and I nodded and I left them both to change quickly, feeling terrible about my own deception.
I felt as though I was cheating them both with my need to keep my mind off my mate's own deception.
I heard Edward laugh from his room.
"Don't worry about it, Jasper. We don't blame you! I must say I myself have felt uncomfortable with Alice's quietness over the past few days… and I know what she's thinking!"
We laughed and quickly finished up, bounding down the stairs to meet Carlisle.
And though I felt guilty still for deceiving them… I was very much looking forward to spending time with them and bonding.
Who knew… perhaps I would get a Father and Brother out of this.
