Chapter 21

Eli's P.O.V

"So what do we have here?" I heard a voice say right above me. I couldn't quite clearly open my eyes to see who it was. My head was still spinning, trying to remember what had just happened.

"A multi-car crash. 3 victims. 1 male, age 44, drove into 1 male, 1 female, teens. No ids on both. The older male was inebriated when we got to the scene. He was out of his car and looked like he was trying to run from the scene. The police had detained him and he suffered no injuries, but was taken in from questioning."

As the lady in the navy blue long sleeve came into focus, I could see she was a paramedic. She was talking to an older guy in a white coat when my thoughts put the pieces together. I was in a car crash. No. We were in a car crash .Adam.

"And him?" the guy, well doctor, pointed towards me.

"He sustained minimal damage. Laceration on his forehead proved to be superficial and was cleaned and pressured at the scene. Has a few cuts and bruises. His stable and suffered no severe damage."

I ran the words in my head. My thoughts were still out of control, but I made out that I was in no real danger.

"And her?" the doctor asked the paramedic.

"She got the worst of it. Lacerations to the radial and broken wrist. Also the pelvis is unstable which leads me to believe she has internal bleeding, mostly likely cause by the cars impact. She also has a small open wound running down her femoral bone. She is stable but coded on our way here and has not regained consciousness."

I looked over to my left and saw Adam on a stretcher as several people were around him. I quickly stood up.

"Adam!" I yelled as the doctor tried his best to hold me down.

"Hey take it easy!...What's your name kid?"

"Adam!"

"Ok Adam well you and…"

"No! I'm not Adam! He is!" I said, pointing to Adam, who still had not opened up his eyes.

"Ok so she's…"

"He's not a she. He's an FTM!"

"That would explain the banded undershirt she was wearing when we found her" the paramedic told the doctor.

"Ok. What's your name?" the doctor asked me

"Eli. Eli Goldsworthy"

"Ok Eli. I need you to got with the nurse and give her as much information as you can so we can contact your parents and Adam's parents ok? We also want to make sure you have no internal injuries so we're gonna do a quick MRI afterwards ok?"

"I can't leave my friend like that"

"Don't worry. She'll be ok."

"Doctor she's coding!" a nurse told him. He went rushing pass me and started to tell the nurses and doctors around him directions.

"ADAM!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. I couldn't see my best friend dying. He can't die!

"Get him out of here NOW! Yelled the doctor and a nurse started to pull my stretcher away. I quickly stood to my feet and ran towards Adam's stretcher, but they held me back.

"I need you to let us help your friend ok?" a female doctor told me as she pulled me away. She let me back to my stretcher and pushed it to another room. She asked me a few questions on who she could call. I told her all our information.

"Thank you Eli and now I think it's best if you wait"

"How can I wait if I don't even know if my friends alive."

"I will let you know as soon as we get back from radi…"

I ran before she could finish. I needed to see if Adam was alive or not.

"Hey!" I heard from behind me as I made my way back to where I thought Adam might be. I quickly walked pass a few closed curtains and saw the doctors on top of Adam who was undress from the waist down and had his jeans ripped open on one leg. I quickly turned my eyes to the floor as a heard a single tone come from the machines.

"CLEAR!" yelled the doctor before using the defibrillators on Adam. Everyone walked away for a moment and waited for the shock to be distributed. I looked up at the monitor to see a single line toning. He's dead I thought.

"CHARGE UP TO 300…CLEAR!" the doctor said again. I felt my knees buckled as I went to the floor. I felt hot tears run down my face. Not again I thought to myself. Not Adam!

I felt myself become light headed before feeling arms on my back.

"We got a pulse."

"Call the OR. Tell them we're on our way…."
