As luck would have it, I managed to get away from the hospital undetected, it took me an hour to reach Escala and only when I arrived did I think of Gail, how was I going to get in and out of Escala unnoticed.
"Be the bosses woman, stand your ground, be firm and get in and out fast." My inner voice says to me. I listen to her, because I know that one wrong move and I could get hurt really badly and piss Christian off, I don't know if he could be angrier than he would be when he notices that I am gone. When I reach Escala my phone rings,
"Anastasia, where the fuck are you?" I hear Christian bellow into the phone.
"Christian I just need some time to figure some things out, please try to respect my space." I say.
"Anastasia, I have no idea what is going through that head of yours but now is not the time, we have a fucking nut case after your life out there and you want space? Have you lost your mind?" I am surprised that Christian is talking so calmly, he is swearing but he seems rather calm. My guess is that he is on his way or has me in sights already.
"Christian just stay away from me till I figure this out, don't call me, I will call you." I say and hang up.
I am inside Escala and I call out Gail's name, she doesn't answer so I head straight to Christian's office, I pull out the gun he has hidden in his drawers and stuff it into my pockets after checking the safety. I need to do this I keep reminding myself.
As I exit the office I stop dead in my tracks, Jack Hyde is standing in front of me, next to him is a man whom I assume is Jonathan, he has Gail by the throat with a knife. I can see Gail is in pain and I feel so stupid for luring them here while she was still here.
"Ana, Ana, Ana." Jack says taking a step forward.
"We don't have time to play; he will be here any moment." I hear Jonathan say.
The rest is a blur to me, it all happened so fast, one minute I was backing away the next I felt something or someone hit me over the head, I just saw Gail pull away and the blood on her neck. I closed my eyes and in the distance I could hear Jack saying things,
"Let's get them both out of here, before that son of a bitch gets here."
"The old lady? What about the bombs?"
"Take both of them out to the van, we will watch for his arrival and as soon as you see him, set the bombs off."
"Why should we take the old lady, she is of no use to us?"
"Just take her, you never know." Jack says to Jonathan.
My head hurts like I was hit by a truck, I can't see much, it is dark and I smell smoke. I try to move but I feel dizzy.
"Don't move Ana, you took quiet a knock on the head." Gail says to me.
"Gail, are you ok?" I ask her, I remember seeing blood on her neck before I blacked out.
"I am fine, just a little scratch, it will get better." Gail says with a faint smile.
"I am sorry Gail, I had no idea you were home, I hope they didn't hurt you."
"No Ana, in fact I am surprised that you came home, they had been torturing me for hours trying to get me to call you and tell you that they had me, I didn't, I waited and I knew that Jason would come after me if they took me or did anything."
"Wait Gail, what do you mean?" I ask confused, I thought that I had lead them there. To Escala but it seems Hyde was already at Escala.
"Jack Hyde came in, I have no idea how, I was in the kitchen and he pointed his gun at me and said that I had to make a call to you, I told him that I would do no such thing but he insisted. He saw that I was very stubborn and then he sent that Jonathan fellow, he is not very smart by the way, and he sent him to plant the bombs on all different levels of the building. That is when you came in and he said that because I did not cooperate he was going to blow up the building away."
"Oh Gail, do you know if they did blow up Escala?"
"Yes they did, Mr Grey and Jason are fine, and they blew it up as they arrived."
"What did they do to the rest of the security detail?"
"I have no idea." Gail says and I feel a pang on my heart, all those people that were stuck inside Escala or injured.
"We need to get out of here?" I say.
"Don't you think we should wait for Mr Grey and Jason to come get us?" Gail asks, she seems very serious and I want to laugh at her serious face.
"Gail, we can't just sit around and wait, Christian doesn't even know where we are."
"But he will soon." Gail says with a smile.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
She pulls out her hair pin and hands it to me, I know exactly what it is, it must have a tracker.
"Is this a tracker?" I ask to make sure I have not lost it.
"Yes, Jason gave it to me just in case something happened and he needed to find me. I wear it all the time so that I can feel safe." Gail says proudly and I reach out and hug her.
"Let's sit tight and wait for Christian, I hope he gets here soon." This was part of my initial plan, to let Jack Hyde capture me so Christian could find him through me and finally deal with him. Once and for all.
