Stiles' jeep and Scott's bike both pulled up to the school at the same time in response to he distress call Allison made. Stiles asked his friend where the girls were, and Sydney called them over, "We're right here."
"It's the same thing, the same thing as the pool. I got into the car, heading somewhere totally different and ended up here. And you told me to call you if I found a dead body." Lydia explained, pointing out the last part to Stiles. The boy immediately started to freak out and question if she found a dead body, but was angry when Lydia admitted she hadn't found one yet, "Lydia, you're supposed to call us after you find the dead bodies."
The pair then started to argue about who would find the dead body. Sydney rolled her eyes and shifted away from her squabbling friends, a million things running through her mind. She was just about to fall asleep when Lydia called her, and then, of course, Sydney woke up Allison who then woke up Scott and Stiles. If they didn't find this dead body soon, Sydney would probably collapse from exhaustion.
The huntress was soon shaken from her thoughts as her werewolf friend interrupted, "Guys, I found the body." All the teens turned to stare at the bloody deputy draped over the school sign.
Allison and Sydney slept in the elder twin's room, making a plan to skip school the next day. The following morning, Chris Argent walked into Sydney's room to talk to his daughters, who were still in bed, "I heard about the recital tonight, the thing to honor the losses at school."
He earned a heavy retort from Allison, "They were murders, dad. Not losses." Their father questioned them if their friends would be there, spiking Sydney's interest. She hummed in response as her dad continued, "Want me to take you two?"
Sydney replied, "I don't think we're feeling up to it." Allison pretended to try and go back to sleep for a moment as Sydney watched her father go from the spot next to her sister. Chris made his way to the door but stopped, adding, "Take as many days as you need, school can wait." The elder twin smiled sadly at her father as he shut the door. As soon as the girls heard their dad's footsteps fade and leave the apartment, they were up.
Both girls emerged from the bed, fully dressed and ready for the day. Allison went to grab her crossbow from where she stashed it as Sydney grabbed one of Chinese ring daggers from her closet. Tossing Allison a jacket, Sydney shut the door of her closet but stopped as she saw something unusual from the corner of her eye. Glancing over, the huntress noticed her window open slightly. The girl dropped her coat and put a finger on her lips to signal her sister to stay quiet.
Sydney carefully tiptoed her way to the window and then ripped it open, grabbing the intruder as they fell and flipping them over. The huntress pointed her knife at the person's neck as Allison ran over. "Isaac? What do you think you're doing?" Sydney questioned, the dagger still poised at the werewolf's throat.
The wolf panted, "You weren't at school." Allison chimed in, asking if Scott sent him to check up on them. Isaac stumbled, "Maybe he's worried about you, both of you." This made Sydney roll her eyes, pointing out once again how they could take care of themselves. The boy stared at the knife and the girl on top of him, "Trust me, I've noticed. More than once."
At school, Scott and Stiles isolated Ethan from Aiden to try and get him to talk. "Why are you even talking to me? I kidnapped Sydney and helped kill your friend, how do you know I'm not gonna just kill another one?" The alpha shot at Scott, who didn't seem fazed. However, the statement angered Stiles.
"Was he looking at me? Are you threatening me? You know what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna break off an extra large piece of mountain ash, wrap it in wolfsbane, roll it in some mistletoe and shove it up your freaking-" The human was cut off by his best friend, surprised by the outburst.
The beta got his friend to calm down and pointed out to the alpha, "We're talking to you because I know you didn't want to hurt Sydney or kill Boyd. I think if something like that happened now, you wouldn't do it again."Ethan shook his head and told Scott that he didn't know what the twins were like before they met Deucalion. Apparently, they were omegas, the bitches of the pack. Deucalion taught them how to control the 'Vultron Wolf', as Stiles so elegantly put it.
All of the emissaries were dead, except for Deucalion's. Morell. Just then, Ethan started bleeding. Aiden was hurt.
Allison explained her theory about how her father was the Darach to Isaac, with Sydney interjecting her doubts. The girls led the werewolf into their father's office as he questioned, "Wait, so your dad's the killer?"
"No, he's not." Sydney stated, at the same time Allison voiced her thoughts, "I hope he isn't." Isaac furrowed his eyebrows and turned to Allison, "So you hope he isn't the serial killing dark druid who's been slashing people's throats?"
Allison rolled her eyes and chose not to respond as Sydney snapped, "Yeah, do you wanna help us or not?" Isaac agreed as Sydney took the lead and explained her sister's findings, "See the marks? There are five more bodies to be found, but it doesn't say who or where the bodies are." The wolf stepped back next to Allison, who was on his left.
The girl asked what he was doing, and Isaac responded, "Something I learned from my father. Take a step back and see the whole picture, you might see things you hadn't if you were up close looking at the details." Sydney chose to follow the werewolf and stepped back, bumping shoulders with the boy. What she couldn't see was Isaac staring intensely at her and her sister's uncomfortable gaze on the pair.
In truth, there was something about Isaac that Allison liked. She could tell Isaac clearly still had feelings for her sister, and the girl needed a boyfriend who wasn't a teenage werewolf.
Something strange caught Sydney's eye as she took the map off the desk. On the top of the desk was a large, golden Celtic five fold knot, something Sydney knew well. Taking Isaac's hand with the black light, the duo shined it over each knot on the symbol. It read, Virgins, Warriors, Healers, Philosophers, and Guardians.
Stiles asked Cora, who was cleaning the blood off her forehead, "Do you realize how suicidally crazy that was? What were you thinking going after them?" Cora then snapped at the three teens in front of her, "I did it for Boyd, none of you were doing anything. I mean, where's Sydney, the girl everyone thinks has all the answers? What has she done so far? You all seem to worship the ground she walks on."
The human boy stepped in to defend his friend, "Look, do you realize what she's been through? How many of her loved ones have died? You want her to start taking revenge when she can't even save herself from the alphas. She's doing the best she can to save what little she has left." Cora seemed to be affected, silencing herself as Scott stated that they were trying.
"And you're failing. You're just a bunch of stupid teenagers, running around thinking you can stop people from getting killed, but all you do is show up late. All you really do is find the bodies." Cora stated, leaving the locker room with Stiles on her tail.
Allison called Stiles and told him what they found, "Guardians has to mean something like law enforcement, right? Stiles, you have to find your dad, tell him whatever you need, but you have to get him to believe. Tell your dad, warn him."
As the girl was talking to Stiles, Isaac and Sydney stood next to each other, staring at the desk. The boy turned to the huntress and asked, "Why didn't you call Stiles?" The girl shrugged and bluntly replied, "I didn't feel like talking to him." Isaac knew what was really wrong with her.
"Hey, I know how you feel, alright? I get that you don't think Stiles and the others feel the same way you do because they didn't know Boyd as well as you did. But I know how you feel, and I'm here to talk whenever you want." Isaac softly told her, making her stare into his eyes and thank him.
"The truth is I've been the one pulling the leash taut when they're salivating for a bite." Morell told Scott, who asked what that meant, so the teacher continued, "That means Deucalion wants a hunter and a true alpha in his pack, he thinks that's you and your friend, Sydney. And a little distraction like a few human sacrifices are not gonna dissuade him from the prize."
Scott tried to argue, "But I'm not an alpha and Sydney's not a werewolf." Morell stood her ground as she rebuked, "But, you two are on your ways, aren't you?" Scott snapped at the emissary and slamming the desk, making Morell do the same, "He wants to make killers out of you, that's what he does. You want the psychologist's perspective? He's obsessive, he both desires you two and is threatened by you two. If the obsessive can't have the object of his desire, he'll chose to destroy it instead. He'll either have you in his pack or make a killer out of you, destroying your potential to be a true alpha."
"And what about Sydney? What if she refuses to be in the pack?" Scott asked, partly already knowing the answer. He hoped it would be different, but it still filled him with dread, "Either Sydney takes the bite or she dies. Deucalion chose her for a reason. Your friend could be the most deadly hunter in the world with proper training. But, with Deucalion's training, she could be an unstoppable force. Plus, he enjoys the irony. An Argent, his sworn enemy, his pawn."
"You're playing his game, and while you're trying to figure out what to do next, he's already 10 steps ahead of you. With checkmate already in sight."
Scott exited the office with one thought in his mind, We're screwed.
Sydney looked down at her phone to see a text from Scott, Mr Westover, their history teacher, was missing. When Sydney showed the text to Isaac and Allison, her sister stated, "We have to stop him."
"Allison we don't even know if it's really him doing this." Sydney argued with her sister. She knew her dad had killed before, but he would never do anything like this. He went by a code, he wouldn't kill innocent people. Allison, however thought differently, "If? Syd, look at this, he knows everything, he's-he's planned everything."
The elder twin was tired of theories, she wanted proof and she wanted it now. Sydney pulled out a map of Beacon Hills with the telluric currents on it, "If Mr Westover was taken from the school, there's gotta be another point in the telluric current." Isaac put together that they were looking for where he would be sacrificed, and he and Allison looked over Sydney's shoulders to see the map.
Isaac used the black light to find the location, and Allison stated, "So that's where we're going."
Sydney drove to the location they found on the map with Allison in the passenger seat. As they parked, Isaac piped up from the back, "Really don't think we should call Scott?" The girls ignored the werewolf, and Sydney turned to her twin sister with a knife in her hand, "Stay behind me and stay quiet." Allison nodded as the girls got out of the car, leaving Isaac behind.
The werewolf groaned, "Oh this is so not gonna end well." Isaac hopped out of the car up followed the girls into the building. The trio entered the abandoned space to see nothing out of the ordinary, and Isaac spoke, "Just FYI, if your dad tries to kill me, I'm gonna defend myself."
Sydney scoffed at him and stated, "If our dad tries to kill you, you'll be dead." Allison stayed quiet as the two went back and forth, the werewolf chuckling, "Thanks for the vote of confidence." The huntress smiled and shot back, "Anytime."
Isaac suddenly grabbed Sydney's arm, halting the group as he sniffed, "I smell blood." Allison questioned him on where, and the wolf replied, "I don't know, I'm not that good at this yet." The other girl got her knife ready as she looked around and mumbled, "You can say that again." Isaac sent her an offended look, but the girl wasn't looking at him. Instead, Sydney was focused on what was through the door in front of them.
The girl started to move forward, and Isaac called her name softly. As soon as the two girls saw their teacher squirm, they were off. Isaac called both of their names, leading Chris Argent out of his hiding spot. He yelled at the kids to get down as he rained bullets on the Darach, who got away. The werewolf had tackled the girls to the ground, keeping his arm in front of Sydney at all times.
Sydney slapped Isaac's arm away as she took off to help Mr Westover, only to discover he was dead. As soon as Sydney saw the body up close, the pattern clicked, "We were wrong, it's not guardians as in law enforcement, it's philosophers as in teachers."
"You've been tracking the killer this whole time, haven't you?" Sydney questioned her father, partly relieved he wasn't the killer but also angry because he lied to her. I mean, she was being extremely hypocritical, but she was the kid. She was supposed to keep things from him. Chris, gathering his bullets, grumbled, "I almost had him, and I would've caught him if it weren't for the three of you."
"So, this is our fault that you've been lying to us for the past two months?" Allison angrily advanced upon her father, who deflected the statement, "You really wanna tally up lies, Allison? Yeah, I don't think you or your sister are going to come up ahead on that one." Sydney had to give it to him, he was kind of right, but Allison had been completely honest with her father since they came back. She didn't deserve that.
Isaac then cut in, pointing out that there was still one teacher left. And they were all at the recital. Sydney grumpily stated, "I guess we're going after all."
The Argents got to the recital just on time, sprinting in. Sydney got inside first, and she saw her best friend stare at her phone. "Hey, is something wrong?" She asked Lydia, who glanced into the crowd, locking eyes with Aiden. The strawberry blonde sighed and turned to her friend, "No, not yet. I just-I don't have a good feeling about this. I need some air."
The brunette nodded at her friend and offered, "I'll come with you, it's not safe to go anywhere by yourself." Lydia smiled at her friend's concern as the two of them walked through one of the doors to walk around the school. Lydia told Sydney how she needed something out of her locker, so the girls traveled down that hallway. For some reason, Lydia stopped right near Ms. Blake's room.
"Lydia?" Sydney questioned as her friend ventured inside the room, the brunette hot on her heels. The girls looked around the room for a moment before hearing the familiar tune that accompanied the Darach. Sydney's eyes widened as she glanced at a clearly distraught Lydia, "Oh shi-" The girl was cut off when Jennifer Blake herself stood in front of them, "You recognize it, don't you?"
Sydney pushed her friend behind her as Jennifer swung her chalkboard pointer at the hunter, effectively knocking her out. That was when Lydia knew she was standing in the presence of the Darach.
The boys, and the Argents noticed the girls' absence as Scott and Stiles ran outside to look for them. Scott called for Lydia as Stiles yelled for Sydney, but there was no luck. They couldn't find them anywhere. "Anything? Sydney's not answering my texts or calls, well she hasn't been for the past couple days but this is different. She would answer. Scott, what do we do? Scott?"
Lydia sat in the chair, crying as she waited for Sydney to wake up next to her. She didn't know what to do, but Sydney would, she always knows what to do. The brainiac witnessed Jennifer duck tape Sydney's wrists to the chair, waking the girl up. Lydia's hope was restored as the hunter growled, "What are you doing to us?"
The Darach remained unfazed by the girl as she responded, "What's necessary, I'm still surprised none of you seem to get that. You call them sacrifices, but you're not understanding the word. It's derived from the Latin, sacrificium-" The woman was cut off by the hunter, who finished off the definition, "An offering to a deity, a sacred right." Jennifer added that it was a necessary evil.
"Stop." Lydia whimpered, gaining the attention of the elder woman. "Oh, I wish I could, but you don't know the alphas like I do. I'm doing Sydney here a favor. She doesn't want to be a werewolf, she has a choice in that. But, she will be a sacrifice." This confused the teens, but Jennifer continued anyways, this time talking right to Sydney, "You, my dear, are the greatest sacrifice of all. A virgin, a healer, a warrior, a philosopher, and a guardian all in one. Plus, it would get rid of the competition with Derek. In time, you would just be a girl who knows too much. Actually, the girl who knew too much."
And with that, Jennifer Blake tied the garrote across Sydney's neck and pulled. The only thing Lydia could think of was scream. As she was being suffocated, Sydney could only think of one thing, Allison. As soon as Lydia finished screaming, Jennifer stopped trying to kill Sydney, giving the girl a moment to breathe. The Darach stood in front of Lydia and spoke, "You have no idea what you are, do you? The wailing woman, a banshee right before my very eyes. You're just like Sydney and I, Lydia. Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under it. It's too bad, though, and too late."
As Jennifer taped Lydia's wrists to the arms of the chair, Sydney started to cry and and fought against her bindings. "Please don't. Kill me, but please don't touch her. Please!" Sydney cried as she locked eyes with Lydia, but Jennifer blocked out the girl. Lydia shook and cried as Jennifer wrapped the garrote around her neck and twisted it. Jennifer raised the knife and stated, "One last philosopher."
"No!" Sydney screamed as Jennifer lowered her knife near Lydia's throat. But, the sound of a gun clicking interrupted them all. "Drop it!" Sheriff Stilinski ordered, pointing the gun at Jennifer, who threw her knife into his shoulder. After hearing Lydia's and Sydney's screams, Scott finally tracked them to Ms. Blake's classroom. When Scott saw two of his best friends about to be killed, he went into full beta mode.
The werewolf pounced on the Darach, who used her powers to knock him down. Then, Sydney heard footsteps come from the hallway. As she looked up through her teary eyes, she locked gazes with Stiles, who immediately attempted to get into the room. However, that hope was quickly demolished as Jennifer blocked the door with her desk.
Once Sheriff Stilinski began to talk to Jennifer, Sydney tried to see if Lydia was alright. "Lydia? You still with me?" The girl grumbled in reply, and Sydney took that as a yes. The huntress knew she definitely had a concussion and that a scar would probably form on her neck, but she didn't care. As long as she got Lydia out of here alive, Sydney would be fine.
When Sydney heard the Darach's screech, her focus drifted from Lydia to Sheriff Stilinski as she noticed he was gone.
