Phantom of the Leaf
Chapter 22
Tsunade dropped her sake cup she looked in shock at the newspaper then pulled open a desk drawer filled to the brim with lottery tickets pulling out the most recent one she compared it to the newspaper
"I won I even got the bonus" Tsunade said with wide eyes now here's what you should know about Tsunade her luck is terrible and there's only one time when she wins and that's just before something bad happens
"Shizune" Tsunade yells standing up "assemble the council and put the village on high alert"
Two Chunin gasped for air as it was bent out of their lungs and around them they tried to take it but they failed and were beheaded by Hidan's scythe
"Oh lord Jashin I offer you these two as sacrifices to your greatness" Hidan prayed holding his hands out in prayer while Taang just watched "Hidan let's keep moving"
"Don't be so impatient Taang we're making great time towards the seven tails jinchuriki its not like she's moving" Hidan said waving off his concerns
"But she's in the hidden leaf with twenty five thousand souls to offer as sacrifice to Lord Jashin including the one who took down Pariah"
This got Hidan's attention "oh right that ghost brat lord Jashin would appreciate such a worthwhile soul to be presented to him"
"Exactly now let's go" Taang said the air bender didn't have the patience to dispose of the rogue steam ninja but he could manipulate the immortal to do what Taang wanted him to do
"Well what are you waiting for Taang we've got to get to the Leaf village" Hidan said leaping off Taang leapt off following him
In another part of the land of fire Kiba and Neji were leading their impromptu team towards their target Kakuzu and Long Feng Kiba following the scent of his mother's corpse which Kakuzu was most likely taking to an black market station to turn in the bounty
"we're not that far away" Kiba told the others Shikamaru nodded "Kiba Neji you stay in front when we attack the Akatsuki we'll spilt them up and work in groups of two"
"Right" the other three said
Half a mile away Kakuzu and Long Feng stopped leaping and landed on the ground in Long Fengs hand was a bleeding sack
"It seems they've stopped most likely to strategize" Long Feng deduced Kakuzu took off his cloak and his fire heart appeared over his shoulder "let's scatter the rats and see who's the strongest"
Long Feng grinned and settled into an earth bending stance with a heavy thrust of his fist he sent a wave of earth rolling towards the others Kakuzu's fire heart opened it's mouth an orb of fire formed between it's jaws
"Fire style searing migraine" with a breath of air the orb turned into an intense torrent of flame that set the earth wave ablaze
Back with the others Kiba and the others they heard the attack before it came "everyone scatter"
Soon the molten wave of earth appeared the others leapt back but the jutsu was still coming towards them
"Eight trigrams vacuum palm" Neji called hitting the air in front of the attack Kiba and Akamaru used the fang over fang to attack the earth and create a trench for the artificial magma the four leaf ninjas landed
"Well isn't this interesting an Akimichi and a Nara with a Hyuga and a Inuzuka" Kakuzu said he and Long Feng having used their attack to move into position and trap them
"Long Feng be on the lookout there's probably a Yamanaka nearby" Long Feng nodded and spread his legs into a horse stance walls of earth moved around the four leaf ninja's pinning them
"Kiba" Shikamaru said Kiba nodded and turned to Akamaru Neji stood next to him "ready Akamaru"
Akamaru barked before he transformed into Kiba then the two used the fang over fang again
"Nice try I'll just block you" Long Feng might have done just that is a kunai with a paper bomb hadn't been thrown at him
He raised a barrier between him and the explosion but was still driven back Neji rushed through the rubble
"Let's see you challenge me" Neji said his Byakugan already activated Long Feng leapt back and raised a barrier of rocks Neji broke through them with ease Kiba and Akamaru running through the woods
"Fang over fang" Kiba called before they charged two razor sharp drills spinning to the air on either side of Long Feng with Neji charging up the middle
Long Feng stomped his foot on a mile around the three combatants the ground lifted up and flipped over leaving a bare patch of ground on the surface
With Shikamaru and Choji Choji grabbed his best friend and leapt up into the air dodging Kakuzu's lightning jutsu the fire heart flew up behind them and swiped with it's claws but there was no blood only a poof of smoke
"Shadow clones" Kakuzu deduced "but when"
"Spiky human boulder" Choji called stampeding into Kakuzu's back and sending him flying into a trip wire a hail of kunai flew towards him his fire heart flew fast landing between it's master and the kunai the heart died with a hiss
Kakuzu stood up "you cost me a heart Nara" Kakuzu clenched his fist
"Enjoy your victory right until I rip your beating hear out of your chest"
Shikamaru was panting "troublesome Akatsuki" he said he was already down to half his chakra creating two shadow clones of himself and Choji
"Choji I need a favor" Choji nodded "anything Shikamaru"
Shikamaru took out Asuma's trench knives and held them in his hand "I need the green pill"
Choji looked shocked he knew that Shikamaru knew what those pills could do and they were designed for the Akimichi any non-clan user would feel twice the effects of even the green pill
But Choji looked into his friend's eyes and saw only resolve resolve that Choji hoped was mirrored in his eyes as he took out the pill case and handed him the green pill
Choji then took the yellow pill himself "for Asuma Sensei"
"For Asuma sensei" Shikamaru repeated before he got down onto his knee and made the rat hand sign "shadow possession jutsu"
Tsunade clenched her fists as she listened to Ino Yamanaka "I'll kill that troublesome brat if he dosen't make it and even if he does I might still do it" Tsunade glared up at Ino
"get me team Kakashi and tell them they have an S rank mission"
Ino nodded and left for training ground seven
Tsunade turned and looked out at the village something else was coming something she needed to be prepared for
Tsunade laughed a little "you're not ready for the hat yet brat so it's my job to keep the village safe"
