Chapter 20: Virtual Reality Adventures
It was a rainy evening and Seto and Mokuba had just returned to Kaiba Corp headquarters, surprising the board of directors.
"Mr. Kaiba, uhh… welcome back sir." One of the directors said.
"What an unexpected surprise." Another said.
"I'm sure it is, you thieving snakes." Kaiba said, "You see I know about your little scheme with Pegasus to take over my Corporation."
"That's right! What you guys did was really messed up!" Mokuba yelled.
"You're all fired and you better get out here before I loose my temper and you all loose more than just your just jobs." Kaiba threatened.
The board tried to protest, but Kaiba wouldn't have it. The board stated they devised the plan to rescue Seto and they believed that if they formed a false partnership with Pegasus, it would lead them to him. They had no intention of taking over the company.
"In fact we have been waiting for your stamp of approval on our newest product." The second director said, "It's your virtual pod. We've readied it for market distribution."
"You have? Impressive." Kaiba said. "But don't think this gets any of you off the hook."
Mokuba agreed and Kaiba was ready to test his virtual reality game. Mokuba and Kaiba took the elevator down to the floor where the virtual pod was located. Mokuba didn't want his brother to go saying that it might be a trap. Kaiba denied it saying that he designed every program in the game himself.
Kaiba got into the pod and got comfortable as he put his deck into the drive. Mokuba was over at the control panel. Kaiba had his brother start it up and he puled the level yelling at him to be careful.
The transport system has defiantly been smoothed out. I can barely feel the separation from my body. Kaiba thought, Now let's see how the virtual world is.
Kaiba landed in a forest and noticed that everything was good up to that point. As Kaiba walked he ran into the Two- Headed King Rex. He summoned his Blue Eyes White Dragon and attacked. However the one thing he didn't expect was the armed ninja to appear and cast a dragon capture jar. It made Kaiba realize that someone reprogrammed the game and soon Kaiba was captured.
Mokuba watched in horror as something went wrong. Mokuba opened the pod and noticed that Kaiba was unconscious.
"Your brothers obsession with technology will be his downfall." Mokuba heard.
"What did you do?"
"He should have heeded your warning and now his mind is trapped in his own game."
"Indeed and now with you as our prisoner once again, nothing can stop us from taking over Kaiba Corp."
The directors laughed as Mokuba looked at his brother. He heard the keypad go off before he mad his decision. The guards called it in and the board knew that Mokuba was going to come back to him.
Meanwhile as Mokuba was running to the game shop, another person was looking for said game shop. She sighed as she was lost and remembered why she was in the city anyways. She had gotten a call from her uncle saying that her cousin was now in Domino, staying with friends.
"Man, I can't believe that girl. She just gets home and then has to get all depressed and comes here." She said.
The girl continued to walk, looking for the game shop, but unbeknownst to her, she was being followed. She turned a corner before she was caught off guard by a sack covering her head. She struggled for a while before she was knocked unconscious. A group of five gathered around and one took out his phone and made a call.
"We have the girl sir. We are on our way back." A guard said.
"Excellent. Serena Pegasus is a key part of our plan. Bring her in"
"Yes sir."
The man ended his call and they grabbed the girl and they left.
Yugi, Serena, and everyone else were in the main floor of the game shop. Joey was shopping around for some more cards.
"Put it on my tab gramps." Joey said.
"Your tab is past do, Joey." Grandpa said.
"Then put it on Tristan's." Joey commented.
"Hey watch it." Tristan warned.
The sound of the door bell caught their attention and turned, seeing Mokuba standing in the door looking weak and tired, begging for help. Serena was the first one to act and ran over to the boy worried for his safety.
"Mokuba what's wrong?" Serena asked.
Mokuba was about to answer but he collapsed. Serena caught him and felt his forehead. He felt a little warm and Serena carried him upstairs. Everyone else followed and few minutes later Mokuba woke up. Serena put a blanket around his shoulders and gave him a hot cup of tea to help warm him up.
"What happened Mokuba? Why are you out at a time like this?" Yugi asked.
Mokuba explained what the Board of Directors did to his brother and that the only way to free him is to beat the game. Tea asked how it was possible for them keep Kaiba's mind trapped there. Mokuba wasn't sure and was hoping that they would help.
"Calm down Mokuba." Granpa comforted, "Now tell us some more about this virtual pod your brother was working on."
"I don't know all details about it. I was pretty young when he started working on it. I remember him spending endless hours working on the prototypes, trying to make it perfect." Mokuba explained.
"Prototypes? So there are other one?" Joey asked.
Mokuba nodded, "Mmhmm, in his lab. It was his dream to create the worlds ultimate virtual reality adventure land, but those corporate jerks turned it into a nightmare."
Joey muttered something about suits and how they would show them just like they did Pegasus. Mokuba looked at them in disbelief. Yugi and Serena agreed with Joey saying that they would rescue Kaiba. Mokuba smiled at them and soon they were heading toward Kaiba's lab.
A few moments later, they made it Kaiba's personal lab. Mokuba led them to the hangar that held the prototypes. Mokuba turned them on and noticed that they were like the one his brother was in.
"There are four pods." Serena noticed.
"Guess someone is staying here and I say Tristan." Joey said.
Tristan ran over to his friend, putting him in a headlock, "And I say you."
"I know I'm going." Mokuba said.
Everyone looked at him, wondering if that was a good idea. Mokuba mentioned that he was the one who knew the most about the world that they were going into. Serena, Mokuba, Yugi, and Joey all got in the pods and knew that it time for a rescue mission. Tea told them to be careful and soon Tristan pulled the lever for virtual upload.
Back in the main office, the board knew that Mokuba was going to come back when one of the buildings on their blue print lite up. They looked inside and noticed that Yugi and the others were there, but failed to notice the real Serena Pegasus. They sent Kemo and a few of his men down to unplug the pods.
Joey, Yugi. Mokuba, and Serena were walking around the forest of the Virtual game.
"I'm glad that I brought my deck, but I'm sure about this life point count." Yugi mentioned.
"I agree, we all know what happens in a video game when you loose a life, but I wonder what happens here. It's kina scary to think about" Serena added.
"Yea no joke." Joey muttered.
The group walked until they reached a graveyard.
"Speaking of scary." Mokuba said.
"It's hard to believe that all of this virtual and not real." Yugi said.
Joey was a little creeped out, "Yea well it all looks real to me."
Joey heard something and turned around to see a zombie come out from the ground. HE cried out zombie alert, causing the other three to turn his direction. Wen they turned, three more monsters appeared.
"Wait a sec, these zombies are nothing but duel monsters." Joey noticed, "So if I just draw and then, I really don't know what."
Mokuba, Serena, and Yugi sweatdropped at Joey and his over confidence; Mokuba showed them how to do it and summoned the Rude Kaiser. Yugi and Serena followed and summoned the Dark Magician and the Angel of Love. They all attacked the monsters but they came back stronger. Joey realized how to summon finally and summoned his Flame Swordsman. He had him attack but Yugi by the time Yugi realized something it was too late.
When Joey's Swordsman attacked destroying the zombie dragon, but it came back and destroyed the Flame Swordsman.
"What's with these monsters? Every time we attack they come back stronger!" Joey exclaimed.
"That is true, but zombies have one major weakness. You've defeated them before Joey remember." Serena said.
Joey realized what she meant. Zombies had a defense power of zero, so Joey used Shield and Sword to switch their attack and defense points. Yugi and Serena used their monsters to defeat the three zombies. Joey realized that his life points weren't going back up and Yugi and Serena received a card with a 5 on it.
However a sound caught their attention. Thye looked in the direction of the sound and noticed a little creature. They walked over to the headstone and saw that it was a fairy.
"What do you think it is?" Mokuba asked.
"I bet it's one of those fairies that they put in games to help the players out." Joey answered.
They fairy took off and they followed it out of the graveyard before it disappeared. They noticed a town below them and decided to head in and check it out. They walked past a food vendor and Joey was glad that they ate before they came. The next vendor that caught their attention was the duel monsters.
"We'll take it." Joey said excitedly.
"I don't think it works that way Joey." Serena said.
Joey looked at the price and it said 2000 coins, "We must have scored at least that much against those zombies."
Joey took out the card and it said five and he became depressed.
"Come on guys, let's concentrate in finding my brother first." Mokuba said.
Knowing that he was right, they decided to split up and question the town. When they were done, they meet up at fountain, hoping that one of them found something. Joey discovered that he hated virtual dogs. Serena giggled and Mokuba showed up saying he got a lead. They walked to the edge of the town and noticed a desert.
"An old woman that I was talking to says that she saw a man carrying a prisoner this morning. See that mountain, supposedly there's an ancient temple on top and the only way to get there is cross this desert." Mokuba explained.
"Great so where is our ride out?" Joey asked.
Mokuba didn't waste anytime and ran out into the desert. Serena, Yugi, and Joey followed. Soon they hit a sand storm. Yugi suggested that they should turn back as the storm was too rough. Mokuba refused and wanted to push forward. Before they could go any farther a sand twister blew them back into town. Joey was the first to wake up and he woke everyone else. Serena made sure that Mokuba was ok.
"That ain't no way to be crossing no desert." An old man laughed.
Yugi and Joey ran over to him, "Wait, are you saying you know how to cross it then?"
"No it's not me knows. It's those desert crossing Neuatory Chickens." The man said.
Joey was confused for a second before he knew what they man was talking about.
"Thank Mister." Yugi said, "Could you tell us where we could go to get a card?"
"They can't be bought, they can only be won."
Joey could't figure out what the man was trying to say. They decided to look around town to see if any of the card vendors had the card they were looking for.
Meanwhile back in the real world, Kemo and his men had arrived at the hangar. Tea and Tristan were just hanging out, unaware of the company that they were about to get.
"They sure have been gone a while, I hope they're ok." Tea said.
"I'm sure they're fine." Tristan said, "I once watched Joey play a video game for three days straight without blinking or nothing."
"Really? Figures." She said boredly.
Tristan then got an idea, "Tea I know what will make all this waiting go by faster, a game. It's called guess my facial hair."
Tea decided to pass on the game, but Tristan wanted to push it annoying the girl. Their game was interrupted when they heard a noise. They peaked through the door to see what was going on before decided that they need to lock the door and put a barricade up.
Back inside the game, the group looked all around the town and couldn't find the Neuartory Card that they needed.
"There is no prized bird around here." Joey muttered.
"Wait, Prized bird that's what the old man meant." Serena realized before taking off.
The three others looked at her and then followed her. She stopped at a sign and they looked at it.
"This is what the old man meant. It's an announcement of a contest." Serena said.
"Fame, glory, and the neuatory card await the heroic challenger who can beat our champion, signed the chief battle coordinator of Shadow Coliseum." Mokuba read.
They all looked at each other and decided that they should sign up. They made their way to the Coliseum and the Coordinator wasn't so sure but let them in anyways. He handed Yugi a battle mask and cape.
"Is all this necessary?" Yugi asked.
"Well if your going to loose all of your lifepoints you might as well look like a hero." The Coordinator said.
Yugi was confused, but Joey decided to go ahead and fight the champion.
"But Joey you have less lifepoints than all us already." Serena said.
"Then that means I'll have to be careful, but so will the champ when he sees my skills." Joey remarked.
"Thank you Joey." Mokuba sincerely thanked.
Joey winked, "Hey not a problem. Playing the hero is what I do best."
Joey changed, and was announced as Senor Porky. The coordinator then announced the champion, Madam Butterfly, surprising Joey that the champion was a girl. Joey played the flames swordsmen and Madam Butterfly played Harpie Lady.
Harpie lady? Where have I seen her before? Joey thought.
He had his swordsman attack the Harpies Lady, but Madam Butterfly used her trap card, Mirror Wall to deflect the swordsman attack. This made Serena, Yugi, and Joey recognize and wonder if that was who they thought it was.
Back in reality, Tea and Tristan were trying to hold off Kemo and his men from getting in a unplugging the pods.
Please hurry you guys. Tea thought, I'm not sure how long we can keep Kemo and his goons out of the room.
Madam Butterfly laughed, "My harpies sure no how to bring in the bacon."
Joey was annoyed, "Alright only one voice can be that annoying.
Madam Butterfly had her Harpie attack but Joey took his mask off and it caused her to stop her attack. Madam Butterfly took her mask off.
"Joey is that you?" She asked.
"Mai, what are you doing here?" Yugi asked.
The three jumped over the railing and ran over to their friend, "Serena, Yugi. Mokuba, I'm testing the game for some suits at Kaiba Corp."
"Listen Mai, you could be in danger." Joey said.
Mai was confused and Mokuba explained that those suits trapped his brother in the game and there is a temple across the desert that they needed to get to and the only was with the prize neuatory card.
The crowd was getting angry at the fact the duel was happening. Joey wasn't sure what to do and Mai was over the Coliseum. She used her Haprie Lady to get the neuatory card and they ran for it.
"Don't let them go!" The commissioner said.
The crowd ran after them and Joey used his Trap Hole card to stall them. When they were at the edge of town, mai summoned the neuatory chickens and Serena rode with Yugi as there were only four.
"Mai why are you in the game?" Serena asked.
"The suits at Kaiba Corp paid me to test it." Mai answered.
"I wonder why they would do that?" Joey wondered.
"Probably to test it fully and make sure that is was ready for when my brother came in." Mokuba answered. "Still they couldn't have planned on all of us."
The group continued on until they felt an earthquake. They looked up and noticed that a monster was coming out of the ground.
While the group dealt with the monster, Mina was just opening her eyes. She felt groggy and immediately became alert. She tried to move by found that her arms were chained up. She looked to her left and noticed that she wasn't the only one here. She say Seto Kaiba there.
"Well looks who's awake?" Kaiba said.
"Where in the world am I? She asked.
"I'm not telling you anything Miss Pegasus."
Mina blinked at him, "I am not Serena!"
"Yea right I doubt that!"
"I am not! My name is Mina Aino! I am not Serena!"
"You could have fooled me, you look exactly like her!"
Mina and Kaiba continued to bicker between each other. Kaiba kept accusing her of being Serena and Mina continuing to deny it. Eventually Mina sighed giving up of the arugment.
"Giving up already?" Kaiba taunted.
Mina was growing annoyed, "No, I just don't want to waste my time with an arrogant, egotistical moron who is obessed with his work!"
Kaiba growled lowly, "So you think I'm obsessed with my work!"
"Yes I do! That's all you do and you have no time for your little brother."
That hit a nerve with Kaiba, "What do you know?"
"When was the last time you spend time with your brother?" Mina yelled.
"I do all the time." Kaiba defended.
"Oh, I'm sure."
"Then why don't you come over and see for yourself! If he is lonely then you can babysit him while I am at the office!"
"Fine!"
As Mina and Kiaba continued to argue, Joey had summoned his Red Eyes Black dragon, destroying the monster and the sand cleared. Across the desert they saw a temple and made their way in that direction. Mokuba was the first one off and ran into the temple. They walked until they found a door and when they opened it they noticed it was a labyrinth dungeon like the one they dueled the Paradox brothers. The door closed behind them startling them.
"I'm totally creeped out." Mai said.
"It's alright, remember this a game and we would never reach the end by going backwards. Which means that we have to go through the maze to find Kaiba." Yugi mentioned.
They all looked at the maze, when they heard a scream. Joey was the first one to react and ran, however the others were quick to follow him as a labyrinth tank appeared. They saw Joey up ahead and yelled at him to make a decision. The direction they turned however had another tank waiting for them.
"So does anyone have a plan?" Joey asked.
"Yea, get past those tanks." Serena answered.
"Ya, got a plan B? Otherwise were gonna have more holes in us than swiss cheese." Joey said.
Yugi used his Magical Hats and soon the tanks were coming after them. Another fairy appeared, wanting them to follow her. As they followed the fairy, they ran into someone else.
"Hey Mokuba, I think that fairy turned you into a girl." Joey joked.
"Great, can she make you smart?" Mokuba asked.
The group looked at the girl and then at Mokuba.
"They could almost pass for twins." Serena said to Mai.
Mai agreed and they wondered if the girl could lead them out of the maze. She said that she was lost too but her fairy, Eiru, could. They followed Eiru until they saw the end of the maze, but they didn't expect a monster to be waiting there.
"I don't think I have a monster that could be that strong to beat him." Mia said.
"He'll take us down with one attack." Joey.
"Watch and learn everyone." Serena said as she stepped forward.
Serena summoned her Angel of Light Princess (2500/3000) and also her Angel of Darkness Prince (3000/2500). She then equipped her White crystal. When Angel of Darkness Prince was on the field it gave her princess another 800 points as well as an additional 500 from the white crystal. Serena had her Princess attack and destroy the Gate Guardian.
"And that's that!" Serena said.
"Wow you're all so brave." The girl said. "So much as the hero of legend."
Before anyone could ask what she meant a whole group of guards and a maid came running forward. They were all worried about the girl but noticed that she made some new friends. The girl explained that they saved her and as thanks, she wanted to invite them all to the palace.
The group made their way to the palace; Kaiba and Mina were still at each other's throats. They were continuing to throw insults at each other and it was driving a certain duel monster crazy.
"Would you to shut up for five minutes?!" The Witty Phantom appeared, "You are giving me a headache!"
Kaiba and Mina stopped for a second before they went back to throwing insults at each other. The phantom sighed before he threw a knife at Mina. The action surprised both of them.
"You two will be quiet for five minutes." Witty Phantom said, "I control your fate now."
Kaiba and Mina looked at each other before looking back at the Phantom.
"What do you mean by that?" Mina asked.
"You two are going to be part of our sacrifice to the mystic beast."
Kaiba tried to override the system, but it didn't work. The Witty Phantom tsked before he left saying that there was some much to do before the last offering arrived. With the Phantom gone, Kaiba and Mina went back to arguing with each other.
The group however was on their way to the castle riding in a carriage.
"I like Adena, she knows how to travel in style." Mai said.
"I agree." Serena said.
"Mokuba you should be flattered that Kaiba based such a character on you." Yugi said.
"Me?" Mokuba asked confused.
"Yea, my lady." Joey teased.
Before Mokuba could hit the blond they diverted their attention to their surroundings. Soon enough they were at the palace and Eiru had taken a liking to both Serena and Yugi. Adena turned and giggled at her fairy.
"Is this you palace?' Yugi asked.
Adena nodded, "I am princess of this land, Simlau. Princess of Adena."
That surprised everyone, as they were led to the dining hall. They all took their seats and Joey just dug into the food. He ate so fast that he chocked and turned blue for a second. Mokuba hadn't touched his food, as he was worried about his brother.
"Princess Adena, have you heard anything about my brother Seto?" Mokuba asked.
Princess Adena looked down, "Well I didn't want to say anything before but people often disappear around this time for the offerings."
"Offerings?" Mai asked.
"Every year around this time offerings are collected from this and two other kingdoms so that the Mythic Dragon can be resurrected." Adena explained.
Serena recognized the name and she knew that this couldn't turn out well.
"The other two kingdoms have already put up their offerings. Two heroes from a distant land."
Mokuba knew one of them had to be Seto, but the other offering they probably wouldn't know, but Serena wasn't going to know what hit her. Mokuba asked where his brother was and Adena said that he was in a dark castle.
Adena continued on with the legend that was passed on. The legend told of the one person to escape the castle on a flying machine and buried it somewhere in Simlau. The flying machine was never found and it was the only way to the castle.
"We can fly there on Joey's dragon." Mai stated.
"The castle is surrounded by a magic barrier and no duel monsters can penetrate it." Adena said.
Mokuba thought it was going to be hopeless, but Serena told him that it was going to be ok.
"What did you do about your kingdom's offering?" Serena asked.
Adena looked down before saying, "I decided to be the offering for my kingdom."
Adnea went on to explain more of the legend and that a hero from the distant mountains would come and slay the Mythic Dragon. Yugi asked her is she believed that they were those heroes. She nodded and Joey got excited embarrassing himself.
"This isn't an eating contest this is dangerous." Mai said.
"We have to go through that Mystic Dragon to get Kaiba, so we have no choice." Joey said.
Everyone agreed and Adena gave them the proper armor. Yugi was wearing blue armor and with gold trim and a red cape. Under the armor he wore a blue undershirt and leggings. He also wore light grey gloves and boots that went up to his knee. Mia was wearing purple and grey armor with dark purple cape. She also wore dark purple gloves and boots that came to her knees.
"A girl like me could get used to this." Mai said, "How did you make out Yugi?"
"Fine, but I feel a bit silly." Yugi answered.
"I think you look just great." Mia said.
"I agree with Mai, Yugi." Serena said as she came out from behind the curtain.
Both Mai and Yugi looked in Serena's direction. She was wearing a white floor length skirt with slits that went up to the middle of her thighs on both sides and an off the shoulder white crop top with bell like sleeves. Her feel adorned gold sandals and she had fingerless gloves on her hand. She also wore an off the shoulder gold cape.
"I think Serena made out the best." Mai said.
"I think you're right." Yugi agreed.
"Mai, you know that this could be a trap, since the suits a Kaiba Corp rewrote the program." Serena said.
"Serena, have you seen me, I look too good to be sitting at home." Mai winked.
Serena giggled, while Yugi shook his head. Mai wondered where Joey was at and he said that he was staying behind the curtain. Serena and Mia encouraged him to come out, and when he opened the curtain, they saw why.
Joey was wearing a tan, one shoulder rob that stopped at his knees. He wore a skull on in his head and then fur cuffs around his arms. He wore tan sandals around his feet. Mai couldn't help but stare at Joey for a little bit as she felt heat rise to her cheeks.
"I'm wearing a bathroom rug, you guys." Joey said.
"Joey this is the original garb of our greatest hero." Adena's lady in waiting said.
Before anyone else could say anything, lightning came crashing down. They all went outside to see what was happening and noticed that there were thousands of duel monsters and a castle floating in the sky. Princess Adena was out on the balcony as well watching what was going on. Her lady in waiting said that it wasn't safe for her out here.
"Looks like they've come for their offering." Joey said.
"How are we going to stop all those duel monsters?" Serena asked.
Yugi looked around and noticed the armed ninja, "Joey, watch out for the Armed Ninja."
Joey understood and wouldn't let him get near the princess. Mia summoned a monster and had her attack the monsters that were coming their way.
"This isn't going work. There are too many of them to take down one by one." Serena said.
"You're right Serena. Mai summon back you Dark Witch. We'll have to think of a different strategy."
Yugi went to activate his Dark hole card, but the Armed Ninja threw a Kunai at it, knocking the card out of Yugi's hand. They watched as the Princess was caught in an net and was being pulled up toward the Armed Ninja. Joey used Ax Raider and Kunai with chain to destroy the monster. As the princes fell another monster caught her and took off with her toward the castle.
"Oh no, what have I done? Mokuba!" Adena yelled surprising everyone
Adena explained that Mokuba wanted to go in her place to join his brother. She blamed herself for him being captured.
"How do we get to the castle though?" Joey asked.
Yugi walked to the edge of castle and saw that something was uncovered. It was the flying machine. They decided to go down and check it out. Joey knew that it wasn't going to fly.
"I know, so we'll have to restore it to how it was before." Serena said.
Yugi and Mai knew what she was talking about but Joey wasn't.
"How is that possible?" He asked.
"If the passage of time corroded the flying machine, then turning back the clock will make it good as new." Yugi explained, "And what card can turn back time, Joey?"
Joey realized what his friend meant, "Oh, the one you gave me before Pegasus' tournament. The time Wizard."
They knew that it was a risk but they needed to save Seto and Mokuba. Joey summoned the Time Wizard and activated time magic. They watched as the ruins were rebuilding themselves. Once 1000 years passed, old Simlau was rebuilt and Joey thought that it didn't work, but when the ground started to shake, he had spoken too soon.
As the four of them were dealing with the ground shaking, Tea and Tristan were having their own problems. They couldn't keep Kemo and his goons from the room. They were barely hanging on for their friends.
"We're getting in there one way or another." One of the guards said.
"No you're not. Our friends are on a rescue mission and you're not gonna stop them." Tristan said.
The flying machine emerged from the ground, surprising everyone in the kingdom. Mai gave Joey a hug saying that he did it. As they were saying goodbye, Eiru flew up to Serena and Yugi, wanting to go with them. Joey ran to the wheel wanting to drive.
"This is your captain speaking, if you look to your left you can see a caste, some clouds and a swarm of duel monsters ready to devour us!" Joey yelled.
"Hang on!" Yugi said.
Mai summoned Harpie Lady, Joey summoned his fierce knight, Yugi summoned Dark Magician, and Serena summoned Angel of Love. They were destroying monster left and right and then something was hitting the ship causing it to tilt. Yugi lost his balance and a monster came after him. Serena saw it at the last minute.
"Yugi!" Serena yelled.
Eiru stepped in front of him and the dark magician came rushing over, destroying the monster. Yugi played swords of revealing light to stop the monsters. Eiru digitized in Yugi's hands. Everyone teared up and Yugi had enough. Yami sensed his partners distress and took over.
"Alright Joey, charge ahead." Yami commanded
They hit the magical barrier and if the ship lived up to legend then the ship should pass through the barrier. Once they made it Joey thought they were home free, but Yami and Serena knew they weren't.
"Joey turn!" Serena yelled.
A stream of fire shot out from the castle, catching part of the ship. Mai had her Harpie attack and destroy the Salamandra. Yami looked back and noticed that the fire was buring the engine
"Abandon ship!" Joey yelled.
Yami summoned his Winged Dragon and everyone got on. However as Serena was getting on, she slipped off the back of the dragon.
"Ahhh!" She screamed, "Help me!"
Yami, Joey, and Mai looked backed and went wide eyed, "OH NO SERENA!"
Yami made his dragon dive down quickly under Serena and he caught her in arms.
"Serena are you alright?" Yami asked.
Serena opened her eyes and looked to see Yami looking down at her worriedly. She noticed that she was in his arms and her arms were around his neck and she grew embarrassed.
"Yes I am fine, just a little freak out." Serena answered.
Yami smiled at her and sat her down in front of him. He put his arms on either side of her and controlled the dragon to the castle. Serena was still blushing as she thought about what happened. Yami on other hand hid a smirk. He knew Serena didn't need to be protected but he used her falling as an excuse to hold her in his arms.
As the group flew up to the castle, The Witty Phantom was still annoyed with Kaiba and Mina and their arguing. He stopped them long enough to get their attention.
"You might want to see who's here. His disguise didn't fool us." The Phantom said.
Kaiba and Mina looked down and Kaiba noticed that it was his brother, "Mokuba, what are you doing here?"
"What do you think big brother? I'm here to save you." Mokuba answered.
The Witty Phantom laughed, "You won't be saving anyone. No you're going to take a dip in the lava of atonement with your brother and Miss Pegasus in order to summon the Mythic Dragon."
"For the last time I am not Serena!" Mina yelled.
Mokuba had the Sword Stalker free his Brother. Mokuba gave his brother back his deck and Kaiba used his Blue Eyes White Dragon to destroy the Phantom. They were about to take off but Mina stopped them.
"Hello, are you forgetting someone!" She yelled.
Mokuba and Kaiba turned around to face a fuming Mina. Mokuba asked who she was, causing his brother to answer that she is a headache and a half. Mina heard it and yelled saying she was not. They were about to get into it again before Mokuba stopped them and had his brother free her. The three ran and noticed the Armed Ninja around.
The Armed Ninja tried to stop the three and used another Dragon Capture Jar, but Kaiba was ready this time. He played Trap Master and regained his lost Blue eyes.
"So tell me Mokuba, how exactly did you get here? Kaiba asked.
"Don't be mad, but I got Yugi, Serena, and Joey to help." Mokuba answered.
"You did what?" Kaiba exclaimed, "You know how I feel about Yugi Motou."
"I know, but I didn't know who else to turn to."
"Anyone but them."
Mina reminded them that they were trying to escape not have cause a riot. They made their way out of the castle as Yami and everyone else made their way in. As they ran toward the castle, they hit a swarm of insect. Joey used fierce knight to destroy them, but ended up getting destroyed. Yami used Mirror force to destroy the swarm.
The fire however caused the Cacoons to open and the Great Moths to emerge. Yami used Catapult turle and Kuriboh with multiply to destroy the moths. They made their way into the foyer of the castle and they heard something. They looked up to the ceiling and noticed a blue eyes and three people slide from its head.
"Kaiba, Mokuba, glad to see your safe. We've been worried." Joey said.
Kaiba looked at Joey and smirked, "Joey, you look like an overgrown monkey in that outfit."
Joey yelled at Kaiba before Mina looked up and noticed Serena. She ran over and tackled her in a hug surprising everyone.
"Serena!" Mina yelled.
Serena looked up and saw the blonde hair, "Mina, what are you doing here?"
"I came here as a favor to your father. But as of why I am in a game, I'm not so sure." Mina said.
"Uhh, Serena who is this?" Yami asked.
Serena smiled, "Mina here is my cousin."
Everyone including Kaiba and Mokuba were surprised. Kaiba couldn't believe that the girl he was arguing with was Serena's cousin.
Before anything else could be said the board interrupted them. Kaiba said that they beat the game but they just laughed. Everyone was surprised when the room completely changed and the ground started to shake.
"What's going?" Joey asked.
"They have over written the protocols. They're summoning the Mythic Dragon themselves." Kaiba answered.
Everyone watched as the board of directors laughed and summoned the Mythic Dragon on their own.
"Stay close everyone, we'll win together or together we'll fall." Yami said.
"Man I've had it with this virtual reality. I'm really starting to miss my body right now." Joey muttered. "Rescuing Kaiba and Serena's cousin was one thing, but now we have to fight this Mythic Dragon."
Kaiba heard it, "Suck it up, there is only on way to get out of this game now."
"I agree, we have to take this dragon down." Serena said.
Everyone agreed and Mai summoned her Harpie Lady sisters, but they were shocked but a barrier. The directors laughed and explained that they did a little more reprogramming and used the Dragon seal to make the place sacred ground where only dragons dwell.
Kaiba laughed, "You dare challenge me to a battle of dragons. You fools."
Kaiba summoned his Blue Eyes White Dragon, while Joey summoned his Red Eyes Black Dragon, Mai summoned Harpies Pet Dragon, and Yami summoned Curse of Dragon. Mokuba, Mina, and Serena watched as the four attack the Mythic Dragon but they all got deflected.
"You're right, they did get deflected, but three of your teammates don't have dragons which to attack with." The directors laughed, "Isn't that right, Miss Pegasus, Mokuba, and Miss Pegasus' cousin?"
Everyone realized what they were talking about and went after the three, Mina blocked the blast for Mokuba and Joey had his Red Eyes take the other hit. Serena ran over to Mina and watched as he was digitized, while Mai and Yami ran over to Joey and watched the same thing happen.
"You creeps, what kind of sick twisted game have you turned this into?" Mai yelled.
"This used to be a game long ago." The directors laughed once again.
Serena was in tears that her cousin was gone, "How dare you?! Why are you doing this and taking away those who are precious to us?!"
The outburst caught the others and the directors off guard.
"Serena what are you doing?" Yami asked
Serena ignored him and made her way forward, "What are you trying to accomplish by doing this? What have we ever don't to you in order for you to exact revenge?"
The directors continued to laugh, "We're just doing what your father failed to do Miss Pegasus."
The comment caught Serena off guard, before she felt her wrist being grabbed and pulled back behind Yami. He told her to calm down and let them handle it. They knew that they needed a new tactic and Yami knew just what to do. He summoned his black luster solider, but it couldn't do anything because of the dragon seal. Mai however made the decision to attack and her dragon was defeated.
"Yugi looks like I won't be around to see how this whole thing ends. It's up to you." Mai said.
The last four watched as Mai was digitized and Yami clenched his fists before he turned to Kaiba. The two started to argue about working together and Mokuba and Serena watched. Yami wanted Kaiba to summon his ultimate dragon, but the directors wanted something else. They decided to attack, but it wasn't the monster that they were attacking.
"Seto it's not your dragon they are attacking, it's you!" Mokuba said as he pushed his brother out of the way.
The directors went after Yami next and Serena saw it, "Yami move!"
Yami's and Kaiba's eyes went wide as they watched what just happened. Serena and Mokuba digitized right in their arms before they could say anything. Yami and Kaiba were beyond pissed. The people they truly cared about were attacked right before their eyes.
"Kaiba, you have trust me I have plan, but you need to summon your ultimate dragon. Serena and Mokuba's sacrifice doesn't have to be in vain." Yami said.
"I hope you know what your doing." Kaiba said as he summoned his dragon.
"While that dragon is powerful, ours is the ultimate." The directors said.
"While that is true, it's goes by a legend saying that when heroes unite, they will create a power to defeat the Mythic Dragon. We will fulfill the prophecy now!" Yami yelled.
Yami fused his Black Luster Solider and Kaiba's Ultimate dragon. The directors attacked but nothing happened. When the fusion was finished the Supreme Dragon Master Knight stood where the two previous monsters stood. The directors watched as the power from the two previous dragons that were played and their dragon was pulled toward the Dragon Master.
"The Dragon Master knight draws power from every dragon that was ever played and that includes yours." Yami explained, "Now in the memory of Mia, Mokuba, Joey, Mina, and Serena we will topple your beast."
Kaiba and Yami had the Dragon Master attack and destroy the Mythic Dragon. Once the dragon was destroyed the fell through a hole. They came to when they heard cheering.
"What's this?" Yami asked as he looked around.
"Our hero's!" Adena exclaimed, "For what you did it will keep my people and our kingdom happy and safe for forever more."
"We're not the ones who you should be cheering for." Yami commented.
Kaiba's fist shook with rage, "There shouldn't be any cheering. I lost my brother in there."
"Fear not. The loses that you faced are too great no matter how strong they are." Adena said.
Adena changed into the Mystical Elf and casted a spell to bring everyone back. Mokuba ran over to Seto and gave him a big hug happy to see that his big brother was all right. Yami made sure that his friends were ok and Serena made sure that Mina was fine. Before they left, Yami gave Serena a big hug, which surprised the girl but she retuned it.
A few moments after the exit portal opened up and the Kaiba brothers walked toward it, but Joey stopped them.
"Wait a minute Kaiba, don't you think you should say thank you or something." Joey said.
"As far as I'm concerned I didn't ask for your help, or did I need it." Kaiba replied smugly.
Joey gritted his teeth annoyed with the brunette.
"However, I will give gratitude to you. Yugi." Kaiab said surprising Yami, "We made a good team back there, but that doesn't mean that it'll be that way in real reality."
Yami smirked back, "Understood, but despite whatever grudge you have against me and the others, maybe you can stop looking at us as adversaries and more as friends."
Kaiba humped and him and Mokuba walked through the portal. Adena thanked them and told them they will always be remembered. The five walked through the portal and headed back to reality.
Tristan and Tea were dealing with Kemo and the guards as the pods opened up. They all got out the pods and Kemo was shocked to see Serena there with her hands on her hips glaring at him.
"Miss Serena, w-what are you doing here?" Kemo asked.
"I am here helping out a friend, Kemo. The real question is, does my father know that you're here helping the board of directors of Kaiba Corp?" Serena asked.
"O-of course he knows. He requested that I come here." Kemo lied.
Serena didn't buy it and crossed her arms, "You're lying, you've always been a lair. I'll let my father know of your actions and you will be dealt with accordingly. I can tell you that he wont be happy. The same goes for the rest of you."
The four looked scared as she took her phone out and called her father. They ran out the door when they also realized that Kaiba must be back. The next thing they heard was a couple of yawns. They saw Mai and Mina come out of two pods. Serena ran up to Mina and gave her a big hug, leaving Tristan and Tea confused.
"Thanks everyone. If wasn't for you my brother would still be trapped." Mokuba said.
"You're welcome Mokuba." Serena said.
"Yea, now get going your brother probably can't wait to see you." Joey said.
Mokuba nodded and left the room and then everyone else followed. When they were outside, Mai went her own way leaving the rest of the gang to head to the game.
"So would someone please explain why there are two Serena's?" Tristan asked.
Serena giggled, "There is only one of me Tristan. This is my cousin Mina."
Tea and Tristan looked at the two girls with wide eyes.
"You're cousin?" Tea asked.
"Yes, I am her cousin, though we get mistaken a lot because we look similar." Mina answered.
"That reminds me, why are you in Domino Mina?" Serena asked.
Mina explained that she got a call from Pegasus and he explained everything that happened during duelist kingdom and that Serena was now in Domino. Also he felt better if Serena had someone there that he knew already with her. Serena sighed and muttered something about over protective fathers, making the group laugh as they continued to walk to the game shop.
Serena: there is only one more chapter left huh?
Soccer: Yup and then Battle City starts!
Yami: Yay... not. Even more crazy idiots to deal with.
Soccer: You'll be fine, besides, you'll have Serena by your side so you shouldn't complain.
Yami: I guess you're right soccer.
Serena: :P Let soccer know what ya thought about the chapter! Ja Ne!
