Chapter Twenty-One; Scandalous

Toxic - Crazy Town
Toxic, loud and obnoxious.

Lilith stood at the doorway, her mouth wide open -almost touching the floor- with her hand still on the door knob. There on her bed sat Charlie blabbering excitedly to an unexpected visitor who went by the name Kai.

Charlie glanced at me saying, "hey Lilly." Before looking over again, this time, her eyes were wide with shock and horror. Kai on the hand was scanning Lilith, eyes full of anger. "Oh my God, what happened?" She breathed jumping off the bed.

Lilith felt her eyes water as she recalled what happened, obviously leaving out the part where she brutally murdered the sexual offender. Charlie comforted her before Kai politely asked her to leave, almost killing her when she refused to. Luckily the girl could take a hint and tucked tail out of the room.

Kai walked closer to her, his eyes taking in all of the blood, his eyebrows furrowing as he saw her breath hitch. He grabbed her lightly by the shoulders, tugging down the collar of her shirt, seeing the bruises. "So this is why I hurt," he mumbled, rubbing the bruises gently with the pad of his thumb.

He eyed her as he yanked up her top, exposing her waist. He clenched his jaw when he saw the knife mark. "I can't absorb magic from you anymore," he stated. "I can't help you," he said, pursing his lips.

Lilith relaxed when he moved away from her but that didn't last long when a smirk blessed his face. "I can't believe I'm saying this but I missed you," he told her, watching as her eyes widened. "So where is the dick who did this?"

Lilith frowned at the curse word, not saying anything.

Kai noticed her disapproving look held his hands up. "Sorry, sorry, I meant to say. Cock sucker." He dodged the shoe she had thrown at him with a laugh. He didn't like it when she was quiet.

"He's dead," she finally said, but it was quiet. Luckily Kai had good hearing and almost blanched when he heard her.

"I'm sorry, did you say he's dead?" He asked, walking closer to her.

Lilith nodded, looking down at the ground shyly, crossing her arms. She let out a silent gasp when she felt the tips of his fingers on her chin, gently lifting her face to look up at him.

"Did you kill him?" Nod.

"Where is he?" He asked.

"I don't know," she whispered, looking way from him. "I met a vampire at a bar once, he gave me his number, I rang him when I realised that I had killed the-the-the whatever. He's taken the body," she explained.

Kai nodded, clenching his jaw. "Who is this guy?" He asked tensely.

"He's a friend of Damon's, or so he says. I've never actually seen the two together," she stated, sitting on the edge of her bed. .

Kai came to stand in front of her, kneeling on one knee. "I'm here now, I'll protect you, if you need me, at all, I'm here." Lilith almost grinned when he said this, he sounded like he was forcing himself to say these words.

"Yeah, you will be," she replied. She reveled in his shocked expression. "You owe me, for leaving me."

"You left me!" He exclaimed, reeling back in shock.

"Only because you did something to me," she argued back.

"Don't blame this on me," he huffed, standing up from the floor. "Anyway, get some sleep, you look like you need it," he commented, ruffling her hair.

"Thanks," she replied sarcastically. "I need a shower first," she mumbled, removing her phone from between her breasts, chucking it onto the bed.

"Ooh, what else have you got down there?" Asked Kai, moving forwards, hooking his finger onto the collar of her dress but before he could get a peek he was shoved away.

"Just, sit it and zip it," she ordered him, her shell opening up once again. It never took much for Kai to get her to be comfortable with him. She was quick in the shower, watching the blood swirl down the drain with distaste. She was strange in the shower. She always covered the drain with her foot because she was scared that Pennywise would climb out from it.

After jumping from the shower and turning everything off she dried herself, throwing on her Joker pyjama set before walking out of the bathroom to see a snoozing Kai laid on her bed, wrapped in her comforter.

She awed slightly at his sleeping face. His fist was squished into the side of his face making his lips pouty. His face was so serene, she thought as she knelt beside the bed. She ran a hand through his soft hair, smiling when he sighed lightly.

She decided he needed the rest and pulled the quilt cover higher, tucking him in before sitting at her desk. She payed Charlie back another way, instead of using money, she would help Charlie with her work, editing her essays and such.

"So, you got this much money how?" Lilith asked, her eyes wide as she saw the hundreds of dollars in his hand.

"They never bothered to change the account password," said Kai, grinning down at her. "Come now, you can help me figure out the world's new trend, as you can see I've kind of been out of the loop." He winked as they walked down the streets.

Lilith took this as a chance to fully check him out. Something about him has changed. He's almost softer, he's less harsh, his words aren't as devilish as before. It honestly frightened her.

"Stop checking my arse out Lily," he tutted, smirking at her over his shoulder when he saw her flaming cheeks.

It took most of the morning for Kai to finally be situated. He fit himself into skinny jeans, he bought loads of those, woolen jumpers, he claimed that he loved them even when it's warm, t-shirts with random designs on them, even The Hulk. When he saw Lilith's dubious expression he quickly defended himself stating that he was the best superhero out in the Marvel world to which she argued back saying that Thor was the best. This then became into a screaming match, so much so that they were thrown out of the shop. Still, that hadn't stopped them.

"Yeah, well Hulk can smash up cars and buildings," he argued.

They were making a crowd.

"So, Thor is practically unkillable with a smashing lifesteal," she counter argued back, throwing her arms up.

"Will you both shut up!" Shouted a man who was stood outside of McDonalds. He earned himself two very angry stares, his words ignored.

"I'll deal with you later, just button it, we need to go somewhere," he hissed, grabbing her wrist. He tugged her down the streets, into a supermarket. They had taxi services there, how he knew that, he had no idea but he liked to think himself lucky.

"No one can know about me, I heard you and Charlie last night," muttered Kai as they waited for the taxi. "Keep it between the two of you, just until I let everyone know I'm here."

"Why?" She asked, rubbing her arms. He had dragged her out early in the morning, when it was a bit warmer.

Without even asking her he had wrapped his arms around her suddenly, causing her to let out a little yelp. He snuggled her closer, resting his chin on her head. She awkwardly let her head rest against his chest, her arms were pressed up against his stomach too. She wanted to ask him what was wrong but she was too selfish to pass up this opportunity.

"Because, I need a good look at my siblings, I doubt Liv and Luke will recognize me," he stated.

"No, they don't even recognise Jo," she told him, remembering the conversation that had happened yesterday afternoon. "Now they know, but they still don't know what you look like," she said, her tone thoughtful.

She decided to take the hug a step further and let her hands wander from his back to his new jeans pockets. She dug her hands in them, thinking they would keep her warm. That was until Kai began to panic and move away from her but it was too late, she had already grabbed the piece of synthetic plastic paper.

"Aw, you kept it?" She asked, staring down at the photo of herself and Kai. "You're going soft Kai," she mumbled, staring down at the smiling faces.

"Don't I know it," he huffed, snatching the photo back. He placed back in his jeans pockets. "Don't touch my ass, " he said, pointing at her. Just then the taxi arrived.

"And don't meddle with what's about to happen," he mumbled, placing a hand on the small of her back, pushing her to the taxi.

"Why?" She asked, although she knew the answer.

Kai was back.

Of course he'd need to enter with death on his hands.
