Chapter 21: Break out!
Humphrey's POV
"You positive this is going to work?" Humphrey asked still not fully believing.
"Yes, i'm 99.9 percent sure. I've been planning this forever." Ward insisted.
Humphrey tried to process the events that would happen in a couple of minutes."Well, it's better than being stuck in this place..." Humphrey thought.
"Alright, you ready?" Ward asked.
Humphrey nodded and laid down, pretending to be in serious pain. He felt kinda stupid and thought this plan would never actually come together.
Ward started to yell for help. "Help! This guy is dying in here!" Ward yelled.
Humphrey heard the light patter of paws against stone. "Is this seriously going to work?!"
The stone was pushed out of place, and 2 guards came in. One pushed Ward into the wall and the other knelt down beside me. Humphrey felt a paw touch his neck to check his pulse. Then he sprung stabbing his claws into the side of the wolf's temple killing him instantly. He kicked the now dead wolf into the second guard. Ward jumped on the second guard and slit his throat before he could cry for help. Ward got up and turned back to Humphrey.
"Good job Humphrey. Now listen i'm going to let the rest of the prisoners free and get to my weapon. You better go find your friend, I'll catch up with you later." Ward said quickly not wanting to waste time.
Humphrey nodded. "Good luck, and thanks." Humphrey said.
"Same to you" Ward said, then turned and ran out of the cell.
Humphrey ran out and went the opposite direction than Ward, thinking that was the way. There was no time to waste.
Ward's POV
Ward pushed another boulder out of the way and set free another pair of wolves. He walked to the next. Prisoners were running blindly back and forth. Looking for their loved ones or the exit of the place. He walked in the middle while the wolves ran around him, he pushed the last one out of the way, A black and golden brown wolf walked out.
"Thanks, I appreciate your assistance." The black wolf said.
Ward nodded and welcomed him.
"We have to go.. Have you seen a black and grey wolf by the name "Humphrey".?" The golden brown wolf asked.
Ward was shocked, this must be the girl Humphrey was talking about.
"He went the other direction from me, meaning this way." Ward pointed toward the right way.
"Thanks." The golden wolf thanked and her and the black wolf took off in that direction.
They disappeared in the confusion of wolves running.
Ward felt a searing pain in his head, and bent over holding his head. "Agh, Wha- the f-u-ck?!"
His vision went blurry and then returned back to normal. The pain dissipated as well. He stood up and dropped his paws from his head. He started walking again to find his weapon. "What just happened?" He asked himself, not sure were the pain came from.
