I giggled, as Alex caught one of her grapes in her mouth. "Alex, stop showing off," I told her, still giggling, "It's embarrassing."
We were at Chili's. Joe was sitting between me and Mom. Alex was sitting across from me and Dad and the others were at the table next to us. Alex was throwing grapes up and trying to catch them in her mouth. She actually had pretty good aim, but she was being annoying.
"Joe, Paige was told me she was coming with you to L. A." Mom said, taking a bite of chicken.
"Yea," Joe replied, "I got a part on the Disney show Jessie. I asked her if she'd like to come with me, and she said yes."
Mom nodded approvingly. "Did Paige tell you about her book?"
"What book?" Joe asked.
"Oh, I told you I write, didn't I?" I responded, "I've been working on this book for a while."
"You told me that. Is it finished?" Joe questioned, taking a sip of his water.
"Almost, but I've been busy lately, getting out of college, moving," I said, "It's a science fiction…aliens, time travel."
"That's awesome," Joe answered, "I'd love to read that."
I started to smile, but then a grape hit my left ear. I turned to Alex and scowled. "Will you stop that," I groaned.
I gave Dad a hug. "So, how long will you be here?"
"A couple of days. Do you want us to leave?" Dad asked, laughing.
"No, of course not," I told him, laughing, "I was just wondering. See you tomorrow."
I walked back over to Joe, who was already in the van. I pulled the door shut behind me. "Are Lauren and Julia still at the Manor?"
"No, Brian took them back. I just called him," Joe said, starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot, "I'll take you back there."
"Thanks," I said.
We chatted for about half an hour, until Joe pulled up to the apartment. "See you tomorrow, then," Joe said.
"Bye," I said, giving him a kiss. I went up to the door and pulled a key out of my pocket. Lauren had given it to me earlier; I unlocked the door, and stepped inside.
"Hey Paige," I heard Julia call as I shut the door behind me, "We're in the kitchen."
I walked into the kitchen. Lauren and Julia were sitting at the table, sorting through papers.
"Have fun?" Julia asked. I nodded.
"Hey guys. I'll be in my room," I stated, and went down the hallway. I pushed the door open and stepped inside. I hadn't fully unpacked yet, boxes were everywhere. I sat down on the bed and pulled a stack of books out of the box next to me. I glanced at the book on top, and smiled. It was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
