Almost in a trance, I couldn't help but freeze in place. Too many thoughts raced through my mind for me to fully comprehend what the hell I was thinking. But it was definitely a mix of horror and happiness. To be quite honest, I wasn't sure exactly what I was scared of. This was a significant improvement over what had happened before. But the fear was too large to completely ignore.
Likewise, this happiness was foreign to me. I felt almost as if I had been returned to something I had desperately missed without even knowing it. Yet I could feel a tinge of anger and pain souring the entire moment. Questions of 'how could it have come to this?' and 'what exactly is it that he knows?' came. But I still had no answers for either. It seemed almost as if the two of us were in a weird sort of sync. Both of us moved toward each other, only to take a step back.
Looking at his face, at the disbelief, I was scared. For so many things could be going on in his mind. And I was not allowed access to any of it. Time could only tell me if it was of my doing or not. Not that I was anxious to find out. I was still stupified by the fact that this person was slowing returning to...
Earlier I may have not noticed, but never before did someone appear so bright. Even with his dumbstruck expression glued on his face that matched mine perfectly. Almost like we were both seeing each other in a new light. Which seemed kind of fitting since the lights suddenly changed color and started blinking off and on.
Never have I been so glad to see his face then this moment. Even with no clue as to what was approaching us, his presence was enough.
