Chapter 21: Party

The streets were filled with bright colorful lights as couples walked down the snowy road together hand in hand. Shopping bags being held as they walked out of stores and looked at the items the shops offered through the window.

The human were getting ready for one the biggest holiday of the year. Presents laughter and happiness filled the town and its people.

It was Christmas today was a day to be celebrated.

While the upper streets were filled with happiness the mansion that held few of the most power fullest families was filled with creatures of the night and their enemies.

One would think that it would be hostile and hatred flowing between the two races but that was not the case.

The ballroom was filled with ladies dressed in evening gowns while their partners where dressed in black suits and tuxedos.

A big Christmas tree placed at the back filled with lights and decorations and presents placed under the tree.

Unlike other soirees tonight the couples that had children was allowed to bring them to the gathering since tonight would be a celebration of Christmas and the peace between the vampires and the hunters.

Kaname Kuran had a small smile on his face as he watched both the hunters and vampires children had no animosity towards each other as the opened the presents and played with their toys and each other.

Yuuki stood silently beside her ex-faincee and older brother. They had not spoken much to each other since he had told her that he no longer wished to become her husband.

"Lord Kuran" a voice he wanted to hear since the evening began finally had entered the ballroom.

His eyes turned to see the Hanadagi heir with her husband by her side. The female pureblood had her hair slightly curled and gather to the left side of her face. She was dressed in a white sheer evening gown the pattern of snowflakes and crystals making the dress sparkle with the lighting of the ball room. She wore light natural make up as she held onto her husband arm with a gentle smile on his face.

"Lady Kuran" she greeted his younger sister who wore a dark long sleeve gown with her hair tied up into a buns with some strands falling around her face. Her makeup had slightly pinkish tone to it emanating the innocent look.

"Lady Kiryuu" the younger female pureblood greeted as her eyes focused on the silver haired male standing beside the older pureblood.

"Lord Kiryuu" she commented as well and the Association president returned her greeting and greeted the Kuran male as well.

"The children seem to be having fun" Kanna commented as she watched the small forms of bodies playing and running around the ballroom, as both her husband and her hand were filled with a glass of campaign.

"I must admit President Kiryuu that this was an excellent idea" The male pureblood complimented but Zero knew it was just another stab as Kanna was the one who had suggested the idea to her husband a month prior.

It took them exactly two weeks to start talking to each other again since Kanna came to his office and declared that she would be living him within the next three years.

They only spoke when it came to the Association no other topics were spoken between them. Since every time he wanted to confront her about her decision and about the male Kuran pureblood it turned into an argument and Kanna would tell him the same thing she did in the office and now it had been a month and the end of the year was right around the corner as well.

Kanna had suggested the Christmas party the ease the tension between the Association and the Senate. She had commented that if the children and wife's more accepting and happier that the husband's would agree to more peace treaties to ensure a safer and more peaceful world for their children and grandchildren.

"Thank you Lord Kuran but it could not have been done without your help as well." Lord Kiryuu commented making sure to give the Kuran head some benefit and his opinion in high regards in front of his subordinates and the other vampires as well.

"Come come now!" Kanna said with a lighter voice trying to loosen the mood, "Let the business be …tonight we should have some fun"

"I agree with Lady Kiryuu" Sara Shirabuki commented as she came towards the two couple with her partner Takuma Ichijou.

The two of them had become close and were now in a relationship.

"It's a holiday and celebration we should have some fun."

The evening went smoothly as the hunters and vampires conversed and danced with each other. Smiles filling the air, Zero did not know if it was the holiday or the children around them but the atmosphere was good one, and the impossible seemed possible.

He had to give it to Kanna she knew exactly what to do to ease the tension of those that held the most important opinion in the families. Which meant Zero had to make the woman and children happy and their husband's who held positions in the senate would be easier to get them to agree on future plans between the Association and the Senate.

As he held his wife's hand and her waist as the moved slowly against the dance floor. The woman in front of him had a slight pinkish glow to her cheeks as she smiled towards him.

"You look beautiful" he commented in a low tone but it seemed to have carried since Kaito smirked at him while he was dancing with one the aristocrats daughter's.

Kanna blinked and avoided his gaze before laying her head against his shoulders.

"Thank you" her hand moved from its position on top of his shoulder to around his arm hugging him slightly.

"Zero…I…" Kanna leaned up to look at him she did not know what was coming over her but she wanted him to know.

As his violet eyes bore into her own she wanted to speak but the silver haired male leaned down to capture her lips in a slight kiss.

As his lips laid lightly on top of her own, he could not ignore his thoughts.

You really did think of everything….even this…

Zero noticed that their eyes were on him and the female bodies in the ballroom gushed and smiled at the open affection.

Even the sound of the children could be heard, as his lips moved from her own they both saw how the little boys made a face of disgust and a sound of "ewww" following while the little girls held onto their toys with sparkly eyes in amazement.

"I will go check on the security for a moment." The silver haired male commented slightly embarrassed.

"Yes of course"

"Yamada-san" His voice order as he looked at the middle aged man positioned exactly where he ordered him to be during the soiree.

"Yes, President Kiryuu." He bowed in respect as he looked at the younger male

"Is everything in order?" Zero Kiryuu commented as he looked around the balcony area watching as two other hunters were positioned at the end of each side about fifty feet away from where he was currently standing.

"Yes, Sir, there have been no activities of concern"

"Very well" The younger hunter commented and left once again taking the hallway he needed to return once again to enter the ballroom.

"Zero" Her voice was different than usual which meant she was worried

His eyes turned as he looked at Yuuki Kuran in her dark green gown.

"What is it Yuuki?" He looked at the young female pureblood as she walked closer towards Zero.

"Lets' be together Zero"

He thought he had heard wrong, what was she saying after everything she had done. After everything she had done and decided she was now approaching him.

Yuuki made two swift steps and enveloped him in her arms as she buried her face in his chest.

"Let's be together just you and me. Just like you wanted Zero, let's forget everything and runaway together and be happy."

She leaned up as she tipped on her toes "I love you"
