21.- Apple slices
As soon as the jet landed everybody woke up from their slumber but Kaze whose head was leaning on Yagai's lap same as Haruka with Michiru, Setsuna only smiled at them
They are so alike it's uncanny…
On the moment the eldest Tenoh woman was about to wake Kaze up Makoto took a small air horn from her bag and signaled both Yagai and Michiru to cover their ears, Setsuna and her assistant gave them construction headphones; they were prepared because it's not the first time this happened, without anybody noticing Michiru leaned forward and whispered something on Haruka's ear and placed and object on her hand
They are always making pranks to each other…Setsuna looked at them amused
As soon as they wore the headphones an air horn went off scaring Makoto "What the hell?"
"I told you I was gonna get you Mako-chan" Haruka was faster than her twin with the prank this time Yagai just smiled and shook her head as Kaze sat down exhausted
He needs to rest, it's been an exhausting trip for him…Yagai was feeling exhausted too as she suppressed a yawn
Michiru only giggled and high fived with Haruka, they have planned the prank together to get back at Makoto for rudely waking them up earlier that day, they made a good team
As soon as the flight attendants opened the jet's door Kaze stood up and stretched "Let's go kids let's grab something to eat and head to the hotel, tomorrow we can explore the city" the tall man hugged his wife
"I agree but we can also eat at the hotel, you look tired honey" Yagai kissed her husband lightly
"Ewww" Haruka and Makoto made faces as Michiru giggled
They are a sweet and funny family, no wonder why Haruka is the way she is…
All of them got off the plane and got into the limo that was already waiting for them and headed to a hotel close to Broadway; they booked 2 suites one for the family and Michiru with two joined bedrooms, and another for Setsuna and her assistant
As soon as Kaze put his head on the fluffy pillow he fell asleep almost instantly, Yagai was also exhausted so she laid down beside her husband on the featherbed mattress but, before falling asleep, she texted her daughters so they can order room service
"Mom said that we can order something to eat Mako-chan"
"Good, I am starving" Makoto clapped excitedly
"You're ALWAYS starving" Haruka stuck her tongue out
"Hey, I'm a growing teenager I need protein" Makoto protested
"Girls, how about a pizza?" Michiru interrupted the teen's banter
"Yeah"
"Sure"
"Pizza it is" Michiru handed the phone to Haruka so she can order "Anything special my lady?" the aqua haired teen giggled "Whatever you want but mushrooms, I hate them"
"Sure thing"
30 minutes later they heard a knock on the door
"Race you to the door" Makoto challenged Haruka and starting sprinting to the suite's door
"It's on" Haruka raced and won, she was as fast as the wind Makoto's eyes widened surprised and frowned
But, but I started running first, this can't be…
"Don't be a sore loser Mako-chan, come on and grab the sodas" Haruka chuckled as she took the pizza boxes from the delivery guy and paid him leaving a big tip
Michiru helped to serve the pizza as Haruka filled the glasses with soda and Makoto ordered a movie
"What do you want to watch Michi-chan?"
"Hey, I'm here too you know?" Haruka protested
"Tch, she's the guest you dumb" Michiru giggled
"Ok let's eat while I decide on what to watch then" the twins obeyed Michiru and sat on the couch in front of the TV. Haruka mouthed 'horror movies' to help the aqua haired teen decide
"How about a classic?" The twins nodded "The exorcist it is then" Makoto put a terrified face
"What's up Mako-chan? Scared of big evil spirits possessing innocent girls?" Haruka made fun of Makoto and Michiru glared at her to calm down
"I AM NOT SCARED" Makoto protested "Let's watch the damn thing" Haruka chuckled as Michiru started the movie and sat between the twins
As the plot develops the three teens were scared, they have never thought that movie was that scary. In the moment Regan (the main character of the movie) starts playing with the Ouija board Makoto stared to feel scared
"Who in their right mind would be playing th…that…thing?" the brown haired teen pointed at the TV Michiru giggled as she was leaning her head on Haruka's shoulder
"Shush Mako-chan"
As the movie continues even Haruka felt somewhat scared but was too proud to recognize it. Only when possessed Regan pukes green viscous vomit Haruka held Michiru tighter
Stupid movie…
When the words "help me" begin to materialize on Regan's stomach Michiru wrapped her arms around Haruka and even Makoto hugged the aqua haired teen
I officially hate horror movies…
The part that shocked them the most, besides all the exorcism was when Regan's head turned backwards in an unnatural way, at that they jumped and few suppressed screams could be heard. As the ending credits rolled the three teens looked terrified
"The good thing is that WE ALL are sleeping in the same room" Haruka pretended to be the brave one "Nice choice Michi-chan" Makoto only rolled her eyes. They put the remaining of the pizza in the fridge and Michiru did the dishes for Haruka to dry
"Do you want to watch another movie?" Michiru offered and the twins shook their heads no at unison, the future sea senshi only giggled
Chickens…
They headed to their room, changed into their pajamas, Makoto wearing light green pants and a dark green tank top. Michiru took one of Haruka's t-shirts and light blue shorts while Haruka used dark blue pajama pants and a wide gray t-shirt. Makoto took the bed on the left while Haruka and Michiru opted for the one on the right, the one in the middle remained empty, Michiru didn't feel like sleeping alone. They turned the lights off and tried to get some sleep
As several hours passed by and morning came they didn't notice how two shadows entered the room and positioned themselves on the feet of the bed, they also didn't notice how 2 pairs of hands reached for the teen's feet. It was too late when they felt that Makoto, Haruka and Michiru's feet were strongly pulled
The three girls screamed terrified and jumped out of the bed, as lights were quickly turned on by Michiru, even if it was early morning the room was really dark because the curtains were thick and covered the windows completely
"MOM?, DAD?" Makoto jumped out of bed
"WHAT THE HELL?" Haruka was standing in front of Michiru to protect her from any stranger
Click, click…
Kaze and Yagai were laughing hard as they put their phones in their pockets, the blond man had to seat on an armchair because his stomach hurt badly because of the laughter; Yagai sat on his lap, still laughing
"You should've seen your faces" the brown haired mother grinned
"Mom, you too?" Haruka glared at Yagai who only shrugged and giggled "Hey I can be a fun parent too Haru-chan"
"And those girly screams, so funny" Kaze laughed even more
Michiru giggled "Kaze-san, Yagai-san that was mean" the future sea senshi pouted
"What did I tell you about horror movies?" Yagai scolded still amused
"Not to watch them before bed" Makoto answered still fuming
"But I agree with Michi-chan, it was mean" Haruka cross her arms over her chest
"Well, hurry up girls we are going sightseeing today but first shower and breakfast" Yagai ordered
Michiru was the first on obeying as she headed to the bathroom to shower while the twins were still mad at their parents. Kaze rolled his eyes
"Ok girls let's have some quality time together and then you can go on your own the rest of the evening"
"Ok but I'll get you back for this old man" Haruka threatened as she earned a glare from her mom she gulped "not you mom, I know better"
"So Michiru-san took this bathroom, I'm taking yours mom" Makoto took her things and ran out of the room
"I trust that you will behave Haruka" Yagai warned as the blonde teen flinched, her mom only addressed her by her name with no suffix when she wanted to make her point very clear "no delays, I want you two ready in one hour"
"Yes mom" with that Yagai and Kaze left the room with the latter showing her the picture he just took of the three scared teens, Haruka just rolled her eyes and started unpacking
An hour later they entered the hotel's restaurant and ate breakfast. Yagai took a sip of her black coffee as she saw how Haruka reached for Michiru's hand under the table and they smiled at each other
It's not worth the try to separate them, it will never work out…they're the perfect match for each other
Kaze looked at her smiling and nodded, Yagai came back from her thoughts, put her mug down and sighed getting the teens' attention "Michiru-san"
The aqua haired teen looked up at the twins' mom and stormy blue eyes locked with brown as Yagai slowly pronounced "Welcome to the family" and Haruka's smile couldn't be wider
"Now let's go sightseeing" Makoto shouted everybody laughed as Michiru mouthed 'thank you' to Yagai who just smiled sweetly at her and nodded
The group decided to take a tour around the city, they went to the MOMA, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and had a picnic lunch at Central Park. They parted in the evening, Kaze and Yagai went to a Broadway show while the girls went around the city in a limo (behind their mom's back but paid by Kaze) and ended up watching movies at the hotel, not horror this time

The next day - Statue of Liberty

The tour guide explained as Kaze, Haruka and Makoto yawned; it was 8 am, which meant that they had to wake up at 6 in order to get there at that time; Yagai and Michiru ignored them and paid close attention to the guide. It was a sunny day and the weather was really nice to walk around the place and simply enjoy the day out
"Race you to the statue" Haruka challenged her sister as they got out of the ferry. She was wearing ripped jean shorts and a dark blue hoodie with light blue sneakers
"I'm down" Makoto accepted. She was wearing light green sneakers, black shorts and a light green blouse
"I want in too" Michiru asked. She was wearing aqua sneakers with a matching t-shirt and lilac shorts, the twins turned around and looked surprised at Michiru
"What? I like competitions" the future sea senshi pouted as she tied her hair in a ponytail
"Oh, I have an app for this" Kaze took his phone out and found an app that simulates gun sounds, Yagai only shook her head
"Ready" the girls got into position
"Steady"
"Go" when the shot sounded the three girls ran past the sea of tourists. To Makoto's surprise Michiru was following Haruka closely while she was being left behind, they dodged tourists all the way to the statue and after some seconds Haruka and Michiru were running at the same pace to Haruka's surprise who only smiled at Michiru who smiled back
They are TOO fast… Makoto didn't give up but realized that it was almost impossible to catch them
"First" Haruka touched the entrance
"Second" not a second later Michiru was there too
"Last" Makoto grumbled as she got there several seconds later panting
"Mako-chan is a lazy chicken"
"Tch" Makoto crossed her arms over her chest
"We are the champions" Haruka started singing as Michiru giggled and Makoto rolled her eyes
"Seriously, Haru-chan?" Makoto protested

"Seriously, dad?" Makoto continued protesting Kaze burst into laughter
"Cut it out girls and let's go into the statue" Yagai smiled at her family, the rest of the tour went without incidents

Haruka and Makoto's closing concert
"Thank you very much for your support, you are the best fans ever New York" Haruka stood up from the piano and waved at the audience, Makoto walked to Haruka's side and grabbed Haruka's microphone "Now we have a small surprise for you, our mom the famous Yagai Tenoh will be joining us with a song"
Haruka regained control of the microphone "and also the talented violinist and long lost family member Michiru Kaioh"
Yagai and Michiru entered stage wearing sparkling dresses, Yagai a yellow one and Michiru a purple one that made her look older as she held a transparent violin. Haruka blushed as soon as she saw the aqua haired girl
She is so gorgeous…
Haruka snapped out of her thoughts as Makoto elbowed her and sat behind the drums "I wrote this song several years ago when I had to say goodbye to a very important person to me it is actually the first time I play it, my mom will sing it, enjoy" with that she gave the microphone to Yagai and sat down behind the crystal like piano, the place went black as only 4 spotlights were on each of them focused in one of the four people on stage

Haruka pressed the keys as Makoto played the drums and a sweet and soft song and Michiru put her violin on her shoulder to join the song while Yagai started to sing softly

Haruka remembered the last time she saw Michiru as kids, the sweet kisses, the tender hugs…

Makoto remembered the last time she held Ami on her arms, her sweet smile…

Michiru caressed the strings with love and opened her eyes for a moment to watch Haruka who had her eyes closed; the aqua haired girl smiled and closed her eyes again...

Yagai now understands the depth of her daughter's feelings more as she continues singing Haruka's song…
"Now I see myself through different eyes, it's no surprise

Haruka opened her eyes to find Michiru looking at her and smiled softly. Maybe Michiru doesn't remember fully but waking up next to her it is the closest to perfection through Haruka's eyes…

Makoto was missing Ami more and more as days went by, a single tear went down her cheek but she kept on playing. She just hoped that they see each other soon…

Michiru opened her eyes again to see Haruka staring at her as she mouthed 'it's you that I want' at the same time Yagai sang that part; the aqua haired girl blushed deeply and almost missed a note…

"Thank you New York" Haruka whispered into a microphone some staff person gave her as all the audience yelled excitedly the stage went black for a few seconds and then a thud sound was heard, Michiru dropped her violin as her hands were trembling
"Michi-chan what's wrong?" Haruka rushed to Michiru's side and held her tight as Yagai picked the violin up
"My hands, they hurt" the future sea senshi was on the verge of tears
"Why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have offered you to play tonight" Haruka was upset
"Ruka-chan I'm sorry, please don't be mad" the aqua haired teen pleaded as they headed backstage
"First thing in the morning we are going to the hospital" Setsuna suggested
"Fine, I feel better now that the trembling is gone" Michiru looked down not knowing what to do
"I will go with you to speak with the doctor" Yagai offered
"Thanks Yagai-san" Michiru bowed deeply
"What's with the long faces?" Kaze just entered the dressing room where everybody was at "Congratulations Haru-chan, Mako-chan, Michiru-san and my beautiful wife, of course this deserves a celebration"
Makoto high fived with her dad and he hugged her deeply then he hugged his wife and finally, Haruka and Michiru
"I made reservations for this Italian restaurant that I think you might enjoy" Setsuna added
"Perfect" Kaze shouted excitedly
"Excellent" Makoto smiled
"You two are always hungry" Haruka protested as her stomach growled and Michiru giggled
They went to eat and drank champagne to celebrate all the good things that have happened to them, after a tiring day they went to bed exhausted
"Ruka-chan, are you awake?" Michiru whispered to a sleeping Haruka
"Hmm, what?" the blonde teen answered without opening her eyes
"I just wanted to say sorry for not telling you" the aqua haired teen quietly whispered
"I was worried Michi-chan" Haruka mumbled
"I thought it wasn't serious; please don't be mad" Michiru covered Haruka's face with small kisses making the blonde teen smirk "pretty please"
"Okay but never hide anything from me again" Haruka softly kissed Michiru
"Never again Ruka-chan, night" the aqua haired girl gave the blonde teen a long kiss
"Night Michi-chan" Haruka brought Michiru closer and drifted off

NY Hospital – the next day - Dr. Smith office
After several tests that Dr. Smith ran to Michiru's hand; some of them painful for the aqua haired teen that was comforted by Haruka they got the results back, rather quick because Dr. Smith confessed being a big fan of the Tenoh's
"I have every result back and I have good and bad news" Dr. Smith sat down on his chair, Haruka and Michiru exchanged glances
"Let's start with the good ones for a change" Yagai stated quietly
"Well the good news is that you will be able to draw and play the violin again" Michiru smiled
"And the bad ones?" Haruka found herself feeling nervous as Dr. Smith's smile was replaced by a frown
"Well I was on the phone with your previous Dr. Ta…nak…"
"Dr. Tanaka"
"That's right; she told me that you were in a serious accident and in a coma for several years. One of the problems they encountered was that you were holding some objects too tightly that they could not help your hands" Michiru looked deep in thoughts
"Dr. Tanaka told me that you held a book in one hand and a dolphin in the other so tightly that they couldn't take them from you even when you were in a coma" Haruka's eyes widened
Her diary and Fluffy…
"The problem was that some of your fingers were broken and didn't heal properly that is why they hurt now" Dr. Smith finished and took a deep breath
"Is there a solution for this problem?" Yagai asked worried
"Yes, but it is a rather painful and slow healing process" Dr. Smith started
"I'll do it" Michiru interrupted
"Michi-chan"
"No Ruka-chan whatever it is I'll do it, I can live without my passions"
"Ok then we'll do it" Haruka took Michiru's hands in hers
"Well, because you are leaving soon I will pass the case to a colleague of mine in Japan, Dr. Mizuno; let me explain you the process first so you are really aware of what's coming Miss Michiru" Dr. Smith started as Haruka and Michiru nodded "First we need to break the fingers that have the problem" the aqua haired teen flinched as the blonde teen held her close "that in your case would be the index, middle and ring fingers of each hand. After that we need to line them up, that means that you will experience some pain, but no worries, we will provide you enough painkillers so you don't suffer that much"
"Will she need rehabilitation after the surgery?" Yagai asked with trembling voice
"Yes Ms. Yagai at least 3 months that is why I am referring her to a specialist in Japan so she can have as much help as she can, after the surgery you will be using hand braces in both hands so you will need to have as much help as possible; I recommend you to have surgery on each hand separately" Dr. Smith recommended
"I'll have surgery in my two hands at the same time doctor, I prefer to put this accident behind as fast as possible so I can live a normal life again" Michiru was serious
"Very well you still have some time to decide until you get to Japan" Dr. Smith finished extending his hand to Yagai for her to shake
"Thank you for everything Dr. Smith" Yagai shook his hand as the three of them left
They got in a taxi to head to the hotel and packed; their vacations officially start as they take the next flight
"Don't worry Michiru-chan" the aqua haired noticed the suffix change and smiled, she felt that she was among family now "whatever you decide we are here for you as family" with that they entered the hotel to pack and catch their flight to have a short vacation at Los Roques archipelago
