Briar:…Sorry for the long wait. There will be a few chapters left I would say…I been, busy. Author shit ya know. I looked to see how popular this story is and it's getting close to 30,000 views. Woooo. Just as popular as Harvest was when it was a shitty FF. Now it's a real book…Sorry, just had to say it. I'll try to make this a long chapter.
It seemed as if years had passed while Ichigo remained in Las Noches with both Grimmjow and Sangre. The time wasn't horrid but Sangre did show he had a semblance of a heart. There were times that Ichigo wondered when his pure hollow side erupted just like Grimmjow's but Cyn was never harmed in such a fit of rage. Sangre would threaten the cub, Grimmjow would threaten Ichigo, but Cyn was never harmed. He was forced to watch and at times Cyn would ask his mami why he would stay with mates so cruel. It was confusing for such a young cub to understand at the time but now that he matured he had an idea of why his mami did.
Both Sangre and Grimmjow tried for another cub but it wasn't long until Ichigo was impregnated once more. After a few weeks the reitsu signature showed more signs of it being Sangre's cub, Kisuke managing to use a device to detect even the most minuscule amount of reitsu within a being. Captains still had their routine checkups within Las Noches and even though there was some hostility between soul reapers and hollows after years of being enemies they were more civil than they were over a hundred years ago.
The vizards Shinji, Kensei and Love got to be captains once more to replace Gin, Aizen and Tousen while the others remained in the world of the living. Ichigo wished he could go back to the world of the living but after a while Karin moved to Las Noches, claiming that the world of the living was a pain for her. The kids were a hassle and though she had the chance of being on a soccer team in the FIFA world cup. However, after being assaulted by some of the females, and even males once she attended high school she decided it was best not to. She still graduated high school but after that she packed a bag to make it look like a regular visit to Las Noches but never returned. Her human body had a mod soul in it who mirrored Yuzu with the love of dress up but Yuzu missed Karin from time to time. Isshin had tried to prevent Karin from moving to the hollow realm but a quick hit from Karin's soccer ball filled with reitsu changed his mind. She may not be able to handle an espada but she could sure as hell hurt an arrancar enough to escape or have Ichigo or Cyn to come help her.
Cyn was now an adult, aging faster than a human child and Ichigo was surprised how fast his cub grew. Not that long ago Cyn had just been born and now he had his resurreccion form. The one thing Ichigo was glad about hollow pregnancies were that there was no swollen belly like human females. It came in handy but being into the third week of his pregnancy was weird. At least it was more pleasurable than it had been with Cyn. This one would be longer for some stranger reason but Kisuke assumed that Ichigo's more human side was effecting the pregnancy than the hollow side of him.
The walls to Las Noches had become familiar and Ichigo was good at finding his way around now. Cyn was a curious cub and more often than not like to leave his parents. Ichigo almost had a heart attack a few times, he swore he was that scared, and then he forced himself to memorize the halls formatting so he could be mobile. He was relatively calm today but the sudden pain in his stomach caused Ichigo to gasp in pain. Something was wrong, something close to what labor felt like. Pain shot through his body again and Ichigo couldn't help but have his eyes widen as he clutched his stomach in pain. This wasn't supposed to be right. No, it wasn't supposed to be like this.
It's too soon! Ichigo thought to himself.
The cub wasn't supposed to be born for another month and a half. There wasn't a chance for its survival and now it decided it was time to be born? Ichigo hoped he was wrong and it was a false labor. Trying to breath, Ichigo reminded himself to prevent himself from going into shock. There was nothing good that would happen if he went into shock and passed out. If he did he was vulnerable and no chance of Cyn, Grimmjow or Sangre finding him without the distress in his reitsu. Usually he had one of the three escort him but the first two were training while Sangre was in a meeting with a few of the captain's from Soul Society.
"Fuck!" Ichigo panted as sweat pooled beneath him.
A shockwave of pain coursed its way through Ichigo's body causing him to groan in pain. This was far worse than Cyn trying to escape his body. Ichigo thought being run through by a sword was painful when he wasn't on adrenaline but this was far worse. The only thing he could do was try to use a burst of reitsu to alert someone that he was in distress. All he could do was hope someone would notice.
Of all the times I need to learn how to control my reitsu Ichigo thought to himself in anger.
Ichigo still had problems over controlling his powers and the fact he was blind didn't help. Gritting his teeth in pain, Ichigo braced himself for another amount of pain. It wasn't until he felt something open within his stomach and the feeling of something slide out that caused him to panic. Excruciating pain came at the feeling of his cub leaving his body but it was more emotional causing Ichigo to scream in agony. His voice rang through the halls and he prayed someone heard those screams.
No! Ichigo thought to himself as tears prickled at the corner of his eyes.
It was too late though, the cub ushered itself into the world and Ichigo couldn't help the tears escape his eyes now. However, what he heard surprised him. The child screamed with its first intake of air in the world of hollows. Ichigo was so surprised and though his muscles ached he still moved out to hold the bundle of joy he had. The child sounded male but Ichigo was unsure. From the look of the reistu size Ichigo new the cub was underdeveloped and the fact that its lungs worked was fascinating. It wasn't a loud scream though and was cut off shortly to the sound of the cub trying to breathe. Ichigo felt panic grow, knowing if someone didn't come soon his cub would die. Ichigo couldn't do it himself though because he was far too tired to move.
Fuck! Why am I so weak? Ichigo asked himself. Sangre will punish me if his cub dies. His one heir to the throne will die because of me.
The sound of a sonido had Ichigo tense in fear, clutching his cub to his chest in fear and protection. The sounds of footsteps was familiar though and Ichigo visibly relaxed. Sangre had sensed his distress and came.
"Are you okay?" Sangre wondered.
Ichigo nodded his head. "The cub?"
"He's fine," Sangre replied. "Such a small thing. Far tinier than Cyn. I swear, ya could probably put a human weddin' ring around his wrist like a bracelet. Don't know how his lungs developed but we better get him ta a medic. They'll put him in a…incubator? Maybe put some tubes in him for now so he can have help breathing. You can hear his shallow breathes. The lungs ain't fully developed but enough to allow him to breathe."
"Explains why he barely screamed and now too loud either but still loud nonetheless," Ichigo croaked.
Ichigo didn't want to move but when he felt something clothed touch him he knew it was Sangre's shirt and he let his other mate wrap their child within the blanket. The floor had to be freezing even for a hollow who was just born. The sound of a second sonido alerted Ichigo but thankfully the person spoke, revealing themselves as Grimmjow. The blue haired espada picked up Ichigo and they made their way to Szayel's lab. Ichigo could most likely be on a cot to rest but there wasn't a chance he was going to sleep. He was exhausted but his body refused, knowing that his child was severely underdeveloped. He felt it in the weight of the child since it only had three weeks to develop. Kisuke had been working on his reitsu detector when Cyn had been born for future uses.
At least Grimmjow was at his side as was Sangre. They hooked up the child and the sound of unfamiliar footsteps confused Ichigo.
"Mami, Papi, what's wrong?" asked Cyn.
"Your brother just came into the world a little early," Grimmjow reassured Cyn.
Cyn noticed the small cub who was as pale as Sangre but with orange locks. The cub was extremely small. "Was I this small when I was born?"
Grimmjow shook his head. "No, far bigger. This cub was born too early. Far too early for his breed."
"He looks humanoid except for those little horns on his head," Cyn said. "He looks a lot like Sangre-Papi."
"I wish I could see him and you, Cyn," Ichigo whispered in longing.
"Me too," Cyn agreed.
The sound of doors opening had Ichigo jump in fear. However, the sound of frantic footsteps belong to no other than Orihime reassured him that there was no danger, just worry.
"Kurosaki-kun are you okay?" Orihime wondered.
"Fine," Ichigo sighed.
"Do you need me to heal you?" Orihime asked.
"No," Ichigo replied.
"Um…Do…Do you think I can try to heal your eyes?" Orihime inquired. "I know it's been a while but I've gotten stronger since the first time."
"You shouldn't give a blind man hope," Ichigo said "…But go ahead. I won't be disappoint if you fail. I need something to distract me from Caius."
"Caius?" Sangre wondered.
"The cub's name," Ichigo clarified.
"Kurosaki Caius…I like it," Sangre muttered in thought.
"Good," Ichigo smiled, "because I wasn't planning on changing it."
"Soten Kishun, I reject!" Orihime called out.
The familiar orange shield covered Ichigo and though his eyes were covered he did not see a difference. For that reason it was because he did not see the change occur. No one did until a few minutes when Ichigo opened his eyes only to see a blur of color. It shocked him and it was like a newborn opening its eyes for the first time. Closing his eyes once more, and opening them, Ichigo adjusted his vision and for the first time saw Las Noches. For the first time Ichigo saw in what he assumed was his son. The cub in front of him with humanoid features, a toothy smile and blue hair that was similar to Grimmjow's like he had been told when Cyn was first born. Tears of joy overwhelmed Ichigo at the sight of his dashing child.
"Cyn," Ichigo spoke in a tight voice as he tried not to cry.
"Mami," Cyn replied with a warm smile.
Ichigo turned to both Grimmjow and Sangre who still remained the same over the years. Sangre seemed to have a more different appearance though. Long white locks that reached down the middle of his back with the same length of bangs as the last time he had seen Sangre. He still had black on yellow eyes though. However, his shihakshou had black fur cuffs and one around his neck line. Ichigo didn't mind the mullet hair and thought it suited his ex-inner hollow.
"Like what ya see?" Sangre teased.
"Maybe," Ichigo replied.
A smirk was on Ichigo's features but when he turned to Orihime he held so much gratitude that he didn't know if he could express it right.
"Thank you so much Orihime," Ichigo said. "There is nothing I can do to repay you and I will forever be in your debt."
Orihime shook her head. "No, consider this payment for everything I put you through. I was kidnapped and you've gone through hardships over me. Consider us even."
Ichigo nodded his head. "All right if that is what you want."
"I'll leave you be," Orihime decided and left without another word.
The use of his sight was so weird that Ichigo didn't know how to feel. For so long he had been in eternal darkness but now he was seeing things as they were. It would be far more difficult he knew that and he would have to rewire his brain back to the way it was but he believed in himself. He knew he had the strength to do it.
"You should check out your bouncin' baby boy," Sangre said to Ichigo.
Ichigo did just that and what he saw broke his heart. A cub far too small was in an incubator hooked up with tubes to help his little lungs breathe. Ichigo was thankful that sometimes Szayel had to put the hollows he had on a life support like system since he more often than not went overboard with them. The cub looked so much like Sangre but the orange locks were Ichigo's.
"Caius," Ichigo whispered in pain.
"We just have to wait," Grimmjow whispered and kissed Ichigo's temple.
"After a week if he still lives he should be in the clear," Szayel informed.
Ichigo nodded his head in understanding and though he desperately wanted to stay up the exhaustion wore him down after an hour and he was out like a light. Both Grimmjow, Sangre and Cyn joined Ichigo in slumber not too long ago, leaving the family to their own devices. Szayel knew he'd have to check on the underdeveloped cub, a rare occurrence for cubs, every few hours to ensure Caius' survival. However, Szayel gave the cub three days before the cruel lands of Hueco Mundo took another cub for itself.
However, Szayel was wrong. It wasn't three days, it was three hours. Ichigo had been shaken awake after an hour of Caius' death and when he was jolted awake he noticed how saddened Szayel looked which only caused tears to leak from his own eyes. There was no need for words as Ichigo's heart broke. Ichigo wanted to call for Orihime to save his son and bring him back to life but his voice was lost in his throat. There were no words and Szayel could see the despair in Ichigo's eyes.
It didn't take long for both of Ichigo's mates to sense his distress and understood Ichigo's pain. Sangre demanded for Orihime's presence but just like the time she first tried to cure Ichigo's blindness, even a death like this was too much for her. Orihime tried her best, even with Ichigo's tears motivating her but it did not help.
"You have to help Caius," Ichigo begged with saline tears streaming down his face.
It broke the male's heart knowing his son died from being born to early. The pain in his chest was as if he were having his chest punctured by an arrancar with the use of their hierro. It hurt so much more and he now understood the pain a hollow must have endured with the loss of their heart. It was too soon to lose Caius and Ichigo wasn't ready to let him go.
"Bring back my son, damn it!" Sangre shouted in anger.
"Please," Ichigo begged in a strained voice as tears strained his cheeks. "I just want my son back."
"I can't!" Orihime sobbed after almost an hour. "I'm exhausted, all my reitsu has been drained but he's gone….God, I'm so sorry Ichigo. Caius…There's just some things you can't bring back."
Caius' death effected Orihime as much as it did Ichigo and his family but even so Ichigo couldn't help but feel the heart retching pain. Orihime felt regret no doubt and the fear of the result in her failure but Ichigo knew it wasn't her fault. It was almost an hour of her rejecting power yet it did not change Caius' state and there just was no chance of him coming back to life.
"T…There's always trying again," Ichigo sniffled until a fresh batch of tears streamed down his eyes.
"You don't want that, do you?" Sangre wondered softly.
Ichigo shook his head. "Not yet."
A few more tears slipped from Ichigo's eyes but he wiped them away. Yes, it was okay to mourn but he was in the world of the hollows where the weak died. Caius' death would haunt Ichigo for a long time, refusing him to have another cub for a long time but he still had Cyn. His one and only cub that was still alive. Yes, he still had Cyn even if he was full grown but no matter what that cub was still his baby.
"I'm sorry," Orihime apologized.
"It's okay," Ichigo whispered "…We asked too much. I should be apologizing. It isn't your fault Caius is dead. Shit happens I guess. I won't know why he was born prematurely but it was probably my fault. I should have taken it easier. I should have stayed in Las Noches rather than going to the world of the living last week to tell my dad the news."
"It isn't your fault," Sangre reassured Ichigo. "Like you said, shit happens. We just gotta deal with it."
"You aren't mad?" Ichigo wondered, afraid that Sangre would hit him.
Sangre shook his head. "No. We'll just try again."
"Thank you," Ichigo whispered with gratitude and hugged Sangre. "I wish you weren't stuck with someone as shitty as me."
"Idiot," Sangre chastised. "I'm the bastard in this relationship. You're my angel and I'm just the devil in sheep's clothing if you've forgotten."
Briar: Done. I made it average length. This was planned from the beginning. Don't kill me. But quick question: Do you prefer paperback or e-books? I can turn my book into a e-book which is far more cheaper. Paperback it is $27 and e-book it'll be like $7. Would you be more prone to buy Harvest as an e-book opposed to paperback for it's cheap pricing or because you like e-books more? Other than that, I apologize for the delay an lack of writing. Been out of my funk but today I was motivated to wite.
