Kori opened her eyes early the next morning to see everyone else still sound asleep in bed. Kori groaned loudly. Why do I have this tendency to wake up so darn early every day! Kori rolled out of bed and pulled her hair into a messy bun before trudging down to the common room. Her body was sore and she was too tired to even think about changing out of her pajamas.
The common room had only one occupant. Harry. Kori hesitated at the base of the stairs, wondering whether it was worth the risk talking to him or if it would be better to just ignore him. Seconds later, Kori decided to just walk past and see if he said anything. Kori slouched past him towards the portrait hole. Not one word. Kori doubted if he even looked at her. Kori heaved a sigh and exited the common room. Once outside, Kori was surprised to find Draco waiting for her. After all, it was a weekend and it was only seven in the morning.
"Morning." He smiled, giving her a hug. Kori grinned and hugged him back.
"What are you doing here so early?" She asked, taking his hand in her own as they strolled down the hallway. He shrugged.
"Couldn't sleep that well, I guess."
"Me too. So how did it go with you last night?" Kori asked, curious to know how the Slytherins reacted. Draco rubbed a hand on the back of his head.
"Well... better than I expected. When I walked into the locker room, I was ready for an attack, but what I got was a bunch of high fives and pats on the back. The guys all congratulated me for having the hot Gryffindor girl." He grinned at her. "In fact, the only people who did seem to mind were Pansy and Flint."
"No surprise there." Kori snorted.
"Yup. And how did things go with you?" He asked.
"Not so great. Harry pretty much hates me." Kori said glumly. She could see Draco biting his tongue to not make a remark. "Yes, I know. You hate Harry." Kori sighed. Draco didn't reply to this.
"You wanna skip breakfast? I don't think many people are too keen on seeing us together this morning." Draco asked.
"Yeah, I'm not hungry anyways." Kori and Draco turned in the opposite direction from the Great Hall. As they rounded the corner, Kori saw her two favorite people. Jolene and Sasria. Kori braced herself for some sort of attack. Draco tightened his grip on her hand, sensing her sudden nervousness.
"Hello, Kori." Jolene said brightly. Wait… wait... hello Kori? When did they ever use my name? And when did they ever say hello to me? With Kori currently in a state of shock and Draco replied for her.
"Jolene." He said, nodding his head.
"Jolene and I have been looking for you everywhere!" Sasria said, with a friendly smile. A little too friendly… Something is odd here.
"Y-You have? Why?" Kori asked, utterly confused.
"To apologize! For being such bitches to you during the past few weeks." Jolene answered, as though this were completely obvious. This is definitely odd. They didn't seem like the type of girls to just forgive and forget.
"And, we wanted to invite you both to our party on Friday!" Sasria put in. And now they're inviting me to a party. Wow...
"Its starts at seven! Please say you'll come!" Jolene begged, taking Kori's hand in both of hers.
"Uhh... Okay then..." Kori answered, caught off guard.
"Great!" Jolene said. She immediately dropped Kori's hand and walked around her.
"See you Friday then!" Sasria called out. Kori wheeled around to face Draco.
"What just happened?" She asked.
"I'm not really sure, but I think they invited you to a party." He laughed.
"Well, duh. I meant, why are they being so nice to me? They hated me last time I checked." Kori said, pondering.
"No idea. Maybe they changed their minds. You're not that bad of a person." He grinned.
"Oh thanks, Draco." Kori rolled her eyes and playfully hit his arm.
"No problem. Let's go outside or something." Draco suggested. Before Kori could reply, he pulled her out onto the school grounds. Kori's mind was still back in the hallway though. There was something weird going on. There was no way that Sasria and Jolene could go from hating her to inviting her to a party and being all nice in one day!
"Korrine Arianna Anderson!" Kori turned to see Natalie and Samantha galloping over to her and Draco by the lake. Her stomach clenched. She hadn't talked to either one of her friends since right before the Quidditch match yesterday.
"Where on earth have you been girl?" Natalie shouted with a broad grin.
"Around." Kori said with a weak smile. Nervous feeling still there.
"Uh huh..." She said, eyeing Draco with a mischievous smile.
"So, I really did enjoy the action you guys had going last night. You should have heard the Ravenclaws gossiping about it all freakin night!" Samantha grinned. Kori felt her cheeks turning hot.
"Thanks, glad you enjoyed it." Draco answered with a smirk.
"By the way, I don't believe we've met. I'm Kori's best friend Sam. And this is her average not best friend Natalie." Samantha smiled.
"What? You mean I'm Kori's best friend and you're just... some whore." Natalie retaliated. They both started a friendly argument on who was Kori's best friend. Kori and Draco exchanged amused glances. Kori cleared her throat and both of the girls looked up.
"Sorry, anyways... we figured we'd better introduce ourselves to you, because once you guys are married, we're gonna be godmothers to your children." Natalie said in confidence. Kori felt herself blushing yet again. They were so good at embarrassing her.
Draco laughed. "Well, nice meeting you both."
"Pleasure's all mine. Now come on you two! We have wedding plans to create!" Sam said. "Hah, I was kidding, calm down. I just don't want you to be late for Potions." She said hurriedly when Kori blushed for the third time. It was funny how Draco managed to not blush at all. In fact, he just seemed rather amused. Probably relieved those crazy girls where her friends and not his.
