"So the secret's out?" Felicity asked, sitting on the couch as Cat restlessly paced back and forth.
"Yes. Apparently tonight warranted National News and Kira was watching with her parents. My picture showed up amongst the hostages and after realizing it was me, she called Scott. They all gathered at his place to follow the news as it happened. Stiles went to the bathroom and I guess that's when I called so Scott answered. I started talking before he said anything, that's how he knew it was me.
"And how did he react?"
Cat sighed, sitting down on the couch beside her friend as she thought back to the conversation.
"You've been in Starling City this whole time?" Scott asked.
Cat contemplated hanging up again but they knew where she was now, they could easily track her down.
"Cat." Scott sighed. "Don't shut me out anymore, okay? I'm sorry for biting you and ruining your life."
"I- it's not your fault." Cat hesitantly replied. "And- and you didn't ruin my life."
"Then why haven't you come back?"
"Because I didn't want you to try and save me. No matter how bad I got, you wouldn't have ended my life so I had to get away, so I could do it."
"You're one of my best friends. If I wasn't going to kill Stiles when he was possessed by a Japanese Spirit, I wasn't going to kill you."
"That's why I left." Cat said with a frown, ignoring Oliver who was trying to get her attention. "I would've been worse than Stiles."
"You say would've. You've been there this whole time, you've gone through a full moon and yet, here you are, holding a normal conversation with me. You didn't go crazy, so what happened?"
Cat ran a hand through her hair. "I don't exactly shift but I'm not really a Seer anymore either."
He was silent and in the background she could hear Stiles ask who Scott was talking to. She heard Malia reply that it was her before she heard scuffling and Stiles was on the phone. She knew Scott had let him win that one for the time being.
"Cat, I did nothing, I swear, I left my phone. But you're okay, right? All we've heard is the hostage situation is over but no one said if every one was okay, but you are right?"
"I am." Cat agreed, trying not to cry. "We'll talk, okay? I- I need to talk to Scott again."
"What? You want to talk to him?"
"Yes. I-" She stopped, taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry, for everything, okay and we'll talk later but I need to talk to him."
He sighed but said no more, then Scott was there again, curiously calling her name.
"I decided a while ago I was going to come home. After I'm done here. I just didn't know how everyone would react."
"You left us and left us in the dark."
"I know." She said with a sigh. "I was terrified. I thought I was going to die. I knew I couldn't be a werewolf and Seer."
"So now you're neither?""
"Yes, now I'm neither." She lied.
"Cat." Oliver hissed.
She shushed him.
"Who are you with?" Scott asked.
"My boss, he knows… everything."
"That Oliver guy right? It talked about him a bit on the news."
"Yeah. Look, I- I'm going to come home but not until I'm done here." She tried again.
"With what?"
"Helping someone."
"Cat, you're just a human now." He softly reminded her. "Tell us what you need help with and we'll come help."
"No." Cat cried. "Look, I'm not completely normal. I can still fight. But right now you can't come and help, not yet."
"But if you need us, you'll call."
"Yes because we might need you." Cat said, throwing Oliver a glance. "I can't say much more than that right now."
"We'll help if you need it." He promised. "I miss you."
"I miss you too, I miss all of you and I'm sorry, I was doing what I thought was best."
"You broke Mom's heart, you know."
"I'm sorry." She cried, unable to stop the tears. "I messed up. I messed up so bad and I don't know how to fix everything."
"We'll figure it out, I promise."
"Are you mad?"
He sighed. "Yeah, I am. Extremely. But I would just feel better if you were back here."
"Soon." She promised. "Please don't be mad at Stiles. I threatened him with my death, with never coming back, with everything I could if he said anything to you."
"Fine." He muttered. "Just keep in touch, okay?"
"I will." She promised. "Bye Scott."
"So how did he take it?"
Cat was pulled back into the present by Felicity who was giving her a curious look and she let out a sigh.
"Well, I'm not going to be killed on sight when I go home. But Scott's not happy. They'll help us if we need it though."
"Do you think we'll need it?" the blonde asked with wide eyes.
"We might. How many people have the Mirakuru in them? I'm only one girl."
"I know. I don't want anything to happen to you, Lina."
"You and me both." Cat replied with a small snort.
"I want to know more about your conversation but we both need to get some sleep. We both have to get Oliver to Queen Consolidated tomorrow for an important board meeting, and considering how MIA he's been as of late, he's not going to go."
"Do I throw him over my shoulder and carry him into the meeting?" Cat jokingly asked.
"It just might come to that." Felicity replied, completely serious. "Are you okay though, after everything that happened?"
"Why wouldn't I be? Being kidnapped or held hostage isn't anything new for me."
"But you were doing it as Lina, not Cat."
"And in Beacon Hills, it always happened as me. I'm okay, City, I promise."
"If you're sure." She uncertainly trailed off.
"Cross my heart." Cat promised. "We'll talk more tomorrow, okay"
She nodded and Cat went to her room, falling into her bed and passing out the moment her head hit the pillow.
… … …
Felicity had been able to talk Oliver into going to Queen Consolidated but he made Cat go with him and she knew what that meant, she would have to see Isabel. She made a face but kept quiet, not wanting to give Oliver any excuse to not go.
They walked towards the board room and Oliver frowned, seeing the room empty, save for Isabel.
"Did I miss it?" He asked out loud.
"No." Cat said, double checking his phone. "It says here it's supposed to start now."
He went inside. "I know I haven't been here for a while but you don't look like the entire board of directors."
"The meeting doesn't start for another half hour." Isabel replied as she continued typing on her computer.
Oliver looked at his watch. "Really?"
She looked up at him now. "I routinely bump all appointments in anticipation of your being late."
Cat let out a small snort, causing Oliver to shoot her a glare before he smiled back at Isabel.
"That's a good policy."
She gave him a tight smile as she stood up. "But thank you for coming out of hibernation for this. Whether you recognize it or not, it's your name on the building and no matter how many meetings you miss, you're still the public face of this company."
"Isabel, I realize I have been distracted, thank you for picking up the slack."
She smiled and rolled her eyes. "Ours is an unconventional partnership, but it's a partnership. So it's working."
"Indeed it is." He replied with a smile.
"Lina." Felicity whispered from her desk. Cat looked over to see her pointing somewhere and she followed her finger to see Moira there.
"Oliver." Cat interrupted them. "Your Mom's here."
He glanced at her, just barely stopping himself from rolling his eyes as he turned back to Isabel.
"Family squabble?" She asked.
He didn't say anything, instead turning and walking out of the room. Cat followed him, walking past Moira with a small smile as she went to join Felicity.
"I really hope you came over here to tell me what they're saying." The taller woman said with a grin.
"But that would be eavesdropping and wrong." Cat said in mock horror before she too broke out into a grin. "That's totally why I'm here. Moira just asked how Isabel was doing, if she's still angry Dorothy dropped a house on her sister."
Felicity let out a snort, quickly covering her mouth to smother the giggles.
"She's asking if he's heard from Thea, which he hasn't and wondering if he'll be at the debate." Cat continued. "And she said it would be embarrassing if he couldn't pretend to be her son for the night, so he threw back that he's good at pretending to be someone he's not, he learned it from her."
Felicity's jaw dropped but she quickly recomposed herself, pretending to be busy as Moira walked towards them.
"It was nice to see you again, Mrs. Queen." Cat forced a smile to her face, as something ,alarming, that only she could see, appeared around the eldest Queen
"You too, Ms. Calhoun." The older woman said, stopping briefly in front of her and confirming Cat's fears.
Cat risked placing a hand on the other woman's hand, wanting to touch bare skin, waiting for something to happen but nothing did and the thing she had seen just moments before were now gone.
"I look forward to seeing the debate tonight." Cat softly said, hoping she could cover up any oddness she was exuding.
"It'll be nice to have you there. Good day." She didn't even look at Felicity before walking away.
"Okay, something was going on there." Felicity said. "Beside her blatant ignoring of me. What's going on?"
"I thought I saw something." Cat said "but I must've been imagining it."
"What did you see?" The blonde pressed.
"The same thing around Allison and Aiden not long before they died." She whispered. "A mark, the same mark but then it was gone."
"Do you think you imagined it?"
Cat turned to look at her now, her eyes wide. "Oliver might hate her right now, but it's still his Mom and he shouldn't have to lose her, so I really hoped I imagined it."
… …
Cat held her phone up as Oliver walked by again.
"She's still not answering." She called, referring to his sister.
"Great." Oliver sighed. "Mom needs us both here and she's probably somewhere crying over Roy."
"Do you blame her?" Cat asked in disbelief. "You made him break up with her and he had to make out with some bimbo to get it done."
"What? How do you know that?"
Cat shrugged. "I talk to Roy, you know."
Oliver pulled her a bit further from everyone else. "And you still don't believe he's too dangerous?"
"He is but she's his anchor and you need to realize that before it's too late."
"Keep trying her." He said as he walked away.
Cat sighed and began trying Thea again but to no avail.
"Lina." A voice called and Cat looked up to see Laurel smiling and waving at her as she walked over. "How are you doing?"
"Good." Cat replied, "Just working. I'm actually trying to get a hold of Thea for Oliver, she's a little late. How are you?"
"I'm good. I don't know if Oliver told you but I got my job back at the District Attorney's office for real this time."
"That's good." Cat said with a grin. "I take it that's how you were able to sneak back here, hey?"
Laurel laughed. "Just enjoying the perks. Are you sitting with Oliver?"
"I was kind of hoping to be sent home but with no Thea, I doubt that will happen."
"Aren't you interested in the issues, aren't you going to vote?"
Cat shrugged. "This isn't my permanent residence, I'm thinking of returning to Beacon Hills at some point in the near future. Besides, if I was going to vote, I'd probably get fired if I didn't vote for my bosses Mom."
"That's true."
Cat's phone beeped and she looked down to see a message from Oliver telling her to meet him at his seats, the debate about to start. Cat motioned to Laurel and the two walked out to the front where Oliver greeted Laurel with a kiss on the cheek before they all sat down.
She pretended to listen to the debate but her mind had wandered pretty much at the beginning of the debate. She was pulled back when the mediator announced a video question from Thea Queen, before saying it must be a mistake. Still everyone turned to look at the video screen where Thea appeared, crying.
"Help. Help, somebody help me please."
Oliver jumped to his feet, pulling Cat beside him.
The youngest Queen opened her mouth to say more when a hand covered it and words appeared across the screen. "HOW MUCH IS THEA QUEEN'S LIFE WORTH TO YOU?" The screen went black and the place erupted into chaos.
"I'll grab Felicity and meet you in the lair, we'll start a trace." Cat muttered to him, reaching down to grab her purse.
"No." he grabbed her arm, leaning in close to her "Both of you get to the office. This isn't an Arrow thing yet, it's an Oliver thing. Get there and find my sister."
She nodded, taking off and pushing her way through the crowd. She finally got through and called Felicity who had been watching the debate and told Cat she would meet her a few blocks away as she had Cat's car. The petite redhead rushed over there, hopping in the passenger side of her car when her friend showed up. She told Felicity what Oliver had said and they drove to Queen Consolidated, Cat pulling out her laptop and booting it up so it would be ready to go by the time they got upstairs. Cat immediately broke into the video feed from the debate to try and chase where the video came from but kept hitting a dead end.
Both girls were working on it still when the two other Queens, as well as the Starling City Police Department arrived. They both shook their heads as Oliver walked by and he clenched his jaw, moving into the meeting room to speak with them.
"Do you think it's Slade?" Felicity hissed at her, after hitting another dead end.
"It is." Cat replied. "It most definitely is and the moment we get any kind of lead, I'm going to kick his ass. Alone."
"Why alone?"
"Because Neither Oliver, nor Roy are in their right mind and that's what Slade Wilson will be counting on."
"Roy looks ready to lose it." Felicity muttered, picking up the phone and placing a call. "Not a word, Lina."
"Huh? About what?" She asked, turning back to her computer.
"Hey." The blonde called out to Diggle and Roy as they walked through the door. "I might have something, I'm just looking into it."
They walked into the conference room and Cat sent her a glare.
"What?" she asked. "I had to tell them something before Roy flew off the handle. Besides, I might have something, it's a long shot. I'll tell you when I know."
Cat's phone rang and she slipped on her headset and hit answer. "I can't talk too long." She said by way of greeting.
"What now?" Stiles cried in disbelief.
"Thea's been kidnapped, we're trying to find her."
"I wanted to see how you were after talking to Scott."
"I'm fine." Cat replied, looking into the meeting room to see Oliver looking helplessly at her mom. In the adjoining room, Isabel knocked on the window and waved him over.
"Stiles?" Cat interrupted his next sentence. "I really need to call you later, we need to find Thea."
He sighed. "Of course you do. Okay, just, don't get held hostage or something again, okay?"
"I won't." she stood up. "I'll call you later."
"What's wrong?' Felicity asked.
"I have a funny feeling." She ignored Felicity, and went into the meeting room, ignoring everyone in there as she hurried through it to the other one, walking in behind Oliver as he announced he was appointing Isabel as CEO.
"What?" She asked.
"What?" Cat echoed.
Oliver glanced at her before grabbing a pad of paper and writing on it.
"Oliver, can I talk to you for a minute?" Cat tried to stop him.
"Not right now."
"It's important."
"C- Lina, no."
"Don't appoint her CEO." Cat all but yelled.
Oliver stopped now to look up at her as Isabel looked ready to murder her.
"Why not?" He asked.
"Because I just think it's a really bad idea."
"That's it? Lina, I need to focus on my sister, I need Isabel to deal with company stuff and this is how I can do it. It's temporary."
"Then why do I have this feeling that it won't be temporary. Do you get what I'm saying right now, Oliver? I have this feeling."
"I don't have time right now Lina. Isabel I need you to do this." He finished writing his name and held the pad of paper to Isabel. "Congratulations, you're now the temporary CEO of Queen Consolidated."
Cat let out a frustrated sigh as Isabel half-heartedly tried to deny the job.
"Please?" He begged her.
She took the pad of paper and he quietly thanked her. "Have Thea thank me when she's back safe at home."
"Mr. Queen." Felicity interrupted them. "I need to talk to you, it's about Mr. Wilson."
He was out the door and Cat knew she should follow but she stepped up to Isabel who had a tiny, self-satisfied smile on her face.
"If you do anything, anything at all to screw over Oliver, I will make sure you regret it."
Isabel only raised an eyebrow. "I think my first order of business will be to fire you."
"Darn." Cat said. "I work for Oliver, personally, not you. Don't screw him over."
Isabel smirked and Cat would have loved to threaten her but she had no choice but to run after Felicity and Oliver who were trying to sneak off to the elevator, Diggle and Roy following behind them. She slipped inside just as the doors closed.
"She's planning something." Cat announced.
"I don't have time, Cat." Oliver reiterated.
She sighed as they all traveled to the parkade, as Felicity gave them a quick rundown of what she did to find any clues. When they reached their cars, they promised to meet at the lair and decide what to do. Felicity and Cat ended up in Cat's car, the little redhead scowling the whole way there.
"What happened?" Felicity asked.
"He gave Isabel temporary CEO for the vote they talked about at the meeting today. Why do I have this awful, awful feeling that this is all connected?"
"What? Like Isabel's working for Slade."
Cat's brow furrowed as she tried to connect the dots. "I wouldn't be surprised."
"That means that her showing up wasn't a coincidence."
"I don't trust her, I don't like her and I have this horrible feeling and it just keeps getting worse." Cat sighed. "Maybe you should just lock me in the cage and I'll push the transformation, see if I can see anything."
"Because if what I found turns something up, Oliver will need you. Like you said, neither of them will be thinking clearly. It might come down to you." Felicity told her.
"Well if your lead doesn't work, we're locking me up and trying."
"And when the hallucinations and craziness start?" The blonde asked.
"Pump me full of tranquilizers? Call Stiles? I don't know, City, all I know is we need to find Thea before Roy or Oliver murder someone."
"Lina, you can't control it, we might not have time."
"I still have to try." She snapped. "If there's nothing else for me to do, then I have to try."
She pulled into the parking lot and they both got out, meeting everyone at the entrance as they all went down the stairs, Felicity going into further details. Sara was already there, lab equipment out as she worked on something, not acknowledging them as she concentrated.
"So I found this license plate." Felicity finished as she went to her computer and brought up a picture she had taken from somebody's phone. "And the car is registered to Slade Wilson and it has GPS."
"Where is it now?" Oliver asked, staring at the zoomed in picture.
"Parked outside a now defunct bar on Roosevelt."
"Okay, this doesn't seem easy to you?" Diggs asked. "Slade using a car registered in his name, the whole thing smells rotten."
"Because it is." Cat said, surprising even herself at what just popped out of her mouth.
"Either Thea's there or she isn't, either way we have to go." Oliver said, ignoring her.
"Yeah, I figured you would say that." Sara piped up. "Which is why I worked up these, it's Tibetan pit viper venom."
"So we're all just going to ignore what the kind of psychic said?" Cat wondered.
"Where is she, then?" Oliver asked.
"You know I don't know that." She quietly said.
"Then you're no help." He snapped. "Unless you can tell me where Thea is, you're no help and I have to follow every lead possible. The venom will give us an advantage." He turned to look at Roy and Cat. "You guys will give us another."
"You sure you want me to go?" A confused Roy asked.
"Are you angry?" he countered.
"Yeah."
"Use that rage."
"You're always telling me to hold back." Roy reminded him.
"Not tonight." Oliver turned to look at Cat, raising an eyebrow in silent question.
Cat sighed. "You know I'm going to go with you."
"Then if you get the chance, take him out. I don't care if you wolf out or whatever, take him out."
"Even though I think this is a horrible idea?"
"Even though. Get dressed."
Cat sighed, briefly clenching her eyes tight before moving off to get changed.
... ... ...
They walked into the now defunct bar from different entrances, Oliver walking through the front to where Slade was sitting in a chair in the middle of the room. Alone. The still young, immature part of Cat wanted to yell out I told you so and if the situation wasn't so dire, she probably would've.
"Where is she, Slade?" Oliver growled.
Slade slowly stood up but didn't speak.
"The man asked you a question." Roy snapped before letting a fist fly.
Slade's head whipped to the side but he did barely anymore than that as he glared at Roy, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"Where is she?" Oliver asked again, his voice eerily calm.
Slade placed his hands on his hips. "What are you going to do kid? Kill me?" He began walking toward him. "But then who would tell you, where your beloved Thea is?"
The two stared at each other before Oliver finally spoke. "Call Detective Lance, tell him to come down here."
"What? Why?" Roy asked.
"To arrest Slade Wilson." Oliver pulled out an arrow, shooting him with a snake venom dart in the chest. He fell back against the chair, unconscious.
Cat lowered her bow with a sigh as she turned on her headset to connect with Felicity so she could make the call to the detective. When she hung up, she turned to Oliver who still had his bow trained on Slade.
"You knocked him out, you can relax."
"I still don't know where Thea is." He snapped.
Cat stepped forward and removed her gloves. "I'll try."
"Try what?" Sara asked.
"Warn me when there's sirens." Cat ignored her, taking a deep breath as she held her hands above Slade's head, catching Oliver's eyes.
"Please, find her." He whispered.
Cat pursed her lips, grabbing his head. Nothing happened and Cat pushed hard, trying to bring her walls down so she could catch a glimpse of something, anything to help them find Thea.
The minutes ticked by and Cat still pushed hard. Her head started pounding from the exertion but finally she caught a glimpse of something. It was Thea, in a room, crying. Slade entered and they had a short conversation before he gestured for her to leave. Thea said something else and Cat struggled to try and hear them but to no avail. In the vision, Slade said something else before Thea turned and took off running. Cat yanked her hands away with a gasp, trying to pull herself together.
"What is it? What did you see?" Oliver asked, striding forward to grab her arms.
Cat growled, baring her fangs as her eyes glowed blue.
"Cat, what did you see?" Oliver asked, trying to get her to focus.
She struggled, trying to fight back her wolf side. "He- he's going to let her go."
"What?" he asked in disbelief.
"She's safe, she'll be-" She stopped, letting out another growl as the wolf took over and she pushed Oliver back, her claws extending as she crouched down, ready to pounce. Somewhere in the far recesses of her mind, she knew she had pushed herself too far and she was losing control but she couldn't stop herself.
She felt a pinprick in her neck, then her arm, and her chest and she growled, one hand coming up to bat at them, even as she stumbled to the side before falling to her knees. She let out another growl just as she fell forward and everything went dark.
