Day Twenty: Breaking Light
Kano glanced at Seto before he opened the front door, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. "Are… are you sure this is the best idea…?"
"You know we can't do anything… The doctors said so themselves… The least you can do… is be there… when it happens…" Seto quickly looked down, trying to brush away at the tears on his face. "And," he looked up, "you shouldn't use your mask either."
"I won't…"
"Are you right now? Are you actually crying? Or… any other emotion?"
Kano shook his head. "I'm… not crying…" 'It's too hard to believe anyway…' He gave a sigh, shaking his head. "I'm just… shocked, ok?" He let his head fall slightly as he walked out of the house, shutting the door behind him.
Kano swallowed as he closed his eyes, feeling worry and fear flow through his veins. He grit his teeth and opened the white door, feeling light from the open window make its way over to his face, warming it slightly. He closed his eyes quickly, then opening them as he adjusted.
"Ahh, Shuuya… I… didn't think you would come…" He turned his head to face Kido's figure, lying down in a white hospital bed.
He grit his teeth under his mask, and gave a smile. "Ahh, of course I would come. I couldn't… leave you to be alone, now, could I?" He gave a huff as he realized that he stuttered slightly.
Kido watched as he put the flowers in a vase next to the bed on a desk of sorts, and she gave a small smile. "You don't have to use your powers, Kano."
Kano shook his head. "If it makes any difference to you… Ahh, I mean… I… would rather… Um… I want to appear strong since… I… I want to leave a good impression. I mean, since…" He gave a sigh and closed his mouth, unable to say anything that would make sense.
Kido moved her hand slightly, and Kano, noticing, gripped it tightly. "It's ok, Shuuya. I'm ok."
"Tsubomi… you… you're dying… How is that ok?" Kano felt tears spring to his eyes and he felt his body start to shake slightly.
"It's not like I don't know that, but I'm happy that I got to have a life like I did…" Kido closed her eyes. "I'm happy that I got to spend my life with all of you."
"Tsubomi…" Kano closed his eyes as well, feeling tears fall down his face.
"You discarded your mask after all…" Kido's voice was getting slowly weaker, and Kano realized that she didn't have much time, the reality of the situation hitting him. He quickly wiped some of the tears away.
She turned to face him more. "Would you…" She breathed deeply, trying to get more air into her system. "Would you… sing for me?"
Kano's eyes widened. "Tsubomi… I… I can't… not… not like…" He felt tears roll down his cheeks. He leaned down, sobbing, putting her hand on his forehead. "I can't… I can't do…"
"It's ok." Kido re positioned her hand to make it more comfortable. "Can you do it… for me?"
Kano took a few shuddering breaths as he slowly leaned up, his eyes tired and sad. "Ok then…" He wiped a few more of the tears away. "Any requests?"
"Not in particular…" Kano felt Kido's grip getting weaker.
"Ok… then…" He took a deep breath, and cleared his throat, begining to sing in a soft voice.

He slowly drifted off of the last note as he looked down upon Kido's figure, feeling more tears fall down his cheeks than during the song. He gripped her hand with both of his. "Tusbomi…? Tusbomi…!" He jumped as the heart moniter let out a low tone and he started to hyperventalate slightly. "Tsubomi! Tsubomi!" He began to wail as he buried his face into her chest, giving out loud sobs as he hugged her body.
"I'm sorry…! I'm sorry, it's all my fault…! Everything… is my fault!" He gave out another wail. "I… I… really did love you, Tsubomi! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"
