Chapter 21
Takeshi POV
This was not how I expected this trip to go, this has gone way out of control. I glance back over my shoulder to see that Mom was lagging behind a bit with Yukiko's hand in his. I could feel the gaze of his eyes on my back but I didn't look back and continued to ignore it and stuffed my hands in my pockets and quickened my pace.
I didn't mean to make him upset, but I wouldn't tell him yet about what happened to Rukia. I frowned and thought even though she's not all that bad, I can't forgive her for what she did to my sister.
Even though it was really late some people were still occupying the streets rushing to the place they had to rush to. I made sure to slow down a bit so that they wouldn't lose me in the crowd, but some people bumped into me a lot, mostly drunks who didn't know left from right.
After turning the next few corners the shop was finally in eyesight and the familiar dirt lot was empty as the lights inside were on, some voices could be heard inside along with a few muffled yells.
I felt my courage deflate as I stood in front of the shop. I knew it was unlike me to hesitate, but uncertainties clawed at my insides. A large hand was on my shoulder and I glanced back to see that Grimmjow was scowling at me.
"Don't wuss out now, your sister is waiting for us. Are you just going to give up and feel sorry for yourself?"
I felt his insult strangely comfort me and I slid the door open, "hello."
Grimmjow, Mom, and Yukiko followed in after me. The shop was empty and we scanned through the shop checking each room.
It seems that Mom found he right room because he yelled, "what are you doing here, Aizen."
Our little group made their way toward Mom's yelling and we saw that Chad, Uryu, and Orihime were there. They all seemed a little confused but when they saw my face they seemed to hold a little anger, typical.
Masaki, Harribel, Dad, and Akihiro were all there sitting there like everything was right in the world. Masaki looked right at home as she sat in a formal seiza position while she drank some tea. Akihiro was right by her side with his head cradled in the crooks of his arms on the table, this was one of the rare times he looked like an ordinary child. Harribel was in a gigai as her hollow mask and hole were hidden beneath the exterior of the shell, she never paid attention to the gazes trained on her back.
I looked back to see that Mom was tense with his gaze directed at Dad who leaned against the wall of the shop. He was looking at Mom with a not very innocent smirk, he waved a bit and said, "nice to see you Takeshi. Ichigo you looked absolutely adorable with that blush earlier."
His face turned an angry shade of red and he stomped his way to Dad, and stared at him with contempt. Because Dad was taller by a few inches he had to crane his neck up, his fists clenched around Dad's shirt.
He got up close...well, barely to his chin, but it wasn't any less threatening.
"You bastard, just what will it take for you to stop fucking with me."
He smiled and leaned down to his ear and whispered something that made him leap backwards and hold his ear in one hand as he sported a blush that spread across his face.
"Y-you."
That's enough. I gripped Mom's shoulder and scowled at Dad, "really, can you please not try to mock Mom for one hour it's really embarrassing for him."
He smiled and ruffled my hair, "anything for you, Takeshi." He took a seat on one of the futons, he looked amused as he glanced at Mom with a smirk as his elbow sat on the table centered in the room.
Now we can get back to business.
Normal POV
"You really know how to stop a fight, Takeshi-san."
Takeshi never noticed that Urahara sat on one of the cushions, his fan hid his mouth, but he knew that he was probably hiding a grin.
Bastard.
He looked at him for a moment, brown eyes met grey as they both assessed each other. Takeshi gave a brief thought to what would happen if he made the wrong move.
The question that was in my head was simple enough to say, it was just weird for me to say.
"Hey, Urahara-san, can we even trust you?"
Yukiko was right by his side with her hands lazily held behind her head, she looked bored as she stared right at him with cautiousness. Her brashness dumbfounded him and he quickly nudged her side with his elbow.
She looked up to her brother and put her hands on her hips, "what I knew you were thinking about it, if you weren't gonna say it I would." She huffed, "geez sometimes you gotta just go for it, you are really stupid sometimes nii-san."
Muffled laughter was hidden behind a thin fan as Urahara watched the scene play out before him. His grey eyes held amusement and it took him a while to contain his laughter.
"It seems that you kids are trustworthy, so I'll offer you some help" although his eyes narrowed when his eyes met Aizen's "but that doesn't mean I completely trust you, keep that I mind."
Aizen nodded, he knew that Urahara Kisuke was not a stupid man, but he would allow them to do as they wished.
Uryu had stayed silent, but now he had something to say that had bugged him since the beginning, "Kurosaki just what kind of trouble are you involved in now" he pointed a finger at Masaki "and this girl just barged in here like she owned the place."
Masaki placed her mug down and sighed, "this matter is not something that concerns you, Quincy."
"How did yo-"
Masaki held up a hand and slightly waved it and closed her eyes, "I know all about you, Uryu Ishida: a quincy with a hatred towards shinigami, although you have aided Kurosaki Ichigo many times. Chad, or Yasutora Sado: a human able to create an armor on his arm that is capable of creating large blasts and one of Kurosaki Ichigo's close friends, loyal and quiet-very good qualities. Orihime Inoue: a human with a unique ability to cure any wound as long as the victim is still alive, kind and one of Kurosaki Ichigo's friends."
That left them all dumbfounded and they gaped at her, not only did she know their abilities but also their personalities. Orihime was slightly red when she heard the way she said 'friend' and shyly looked down at the ground as she fiddled with her shirt.
Harribel said, "this isn't the time for you to scare them Masaki we need to rescue Saki."
Masaki let one eye open but let her face maintain neutrality as she said, "I am aware of that and now that Takeshi, Grimmjow, Yukiko, and Ichigo have joined us it's time to prepare for our rescue mission." Saying her mother's name felt strange, but she ignored it, this was not the time to get sentimental, no more fights or jokes.
Ichigo stared at the girl in front of him, she was so like her father. Same personality, same cold look, but she had a fire in her brown eyes. Her wavy orange hair reminded him a bit of his mother, now I know why we named her Masaki.
Uryu pushed his glasses up to his nose, "just how do you plan to get that girl back, those shinigami won't just let you take her back. Surely ou aren't so naïve to think you can just fight your way through?"
Takeshi intervened, "we aren't so reckless as to just fight our way in, we'll formulate a plan and see how it goes."
Grimmjow had his back leaned against the wall and he sighed, so we're just gonna wing it, right."
Both Masaki and Takeshi murmured, "pretty much."
Ichigo scowled, "so what are we going to do."
Takeshi raised an eyebrow and took a seat next to Ichigo, "you're not going anywhere, this is strictly our fight now."
Ichigo pounded a fist "do you really think I'll just let you fight while I just sit here waiting for you?"
Aizen let his voice travel to Ichigo with slight anger hidden between the lines, "and just what will you do when Soul Society sees you aiding their enemy, try you for treason or kill you on the spot."
This left Ichigo mad and he sprung up from the seat and whispered, "so you want me to just sit on the sidelines watching you fight."
Grimmjow spat, "can't you just sit like a good kid, and let the adults do the work ."
That comment earned a curse which turned into a full-scale riot that Harribel and Aizen had to stop when they each tried to seriously kill each other.
Meanwhile, Masaki nursed her head as she felt a migraine, but felt her phone ring from her pocket.
Recap:
Behind the door of the hall, Saki was not going to give in just yet, and maybe someone close by was watching over her, even closer than she thought.
The guards towed her back to her cell with no gentleness, but a lone guard stayed in the back with a frown on his face as he watched her being manhandled by these men, he let his anger seep to the deepest depths of his mind and thought, 'not yet, but soon.'
The lone guard stood at the back with his head lowered as he assessed the men standing in front of him, they were well muscled, but cocky as they mocked the prisoners who stood in their cells.
0/0
The man sneered at their behavior and brought his weapon of choice: a katana, held in his dominant hand with a firm grip. As the guards came up to the prison entrance one guy looked back and said, "hey, who are you by the way."
The guy looked up and gave them a smile, "last week I became a new guard, did no one tell you."
Another one of the guards narrowed his eyes, "we never heard of that, who the hell are you?"
The man smiled and raised his hands in mock surrender, "now, gentleman can't we just get along."
His answer was the guards raising their swords and charging at him with fierce anger and the man simply knocked one guard down with the hilt of sword with ease as the fell one by one to the floor in pain.
The man sighed and removed the wig that covered his hair and threw it on the body of one of the unconscious guards and took off the glasses.
Through the dim lights of the prison you could make out amber eyes and orange hair, Kazuko glanced down at the bodies with disdain and went through the uniforms of the guards looking for a key. After a few attempts he found a small key and held it between two fingers and saw how the key glinted silver as he tossed it up. He caught it and let the key lay in the palm of his hand.
Kazuko allowed himself to laugh a bit and smiled, 'that was almost too easy.'
"Time to call nee-san."
Masaki pressed the phone to her ear, "hello." She hoped that this was good news not bad, it didn't feel good to tell their mother he couldn't help in their war, but it was for his safety; surely he knew that.
"Nee-san, I have some good news."
"Really, let me guess you have a plan to get back Saki."
"Of course, I'll give you a distraction so it'll make it easier for you to-"
"I'll make sure the captains are busy, just get her back to Urahara's shop."
"Of course, and give Byakuya a punch for me will you."
She let her face shift into a frown, "be safe, Kazuko."
The conversation cut off and Masaki put her phone back in her pocket and faced their little rescue group. She smiled a bit and held her hands up, "it looks like my little brother gave us some time to cause a little trouble in Soul Society while he gets Saki."
Ichigo let his anger leave in exchange for confusion as he frowned. He had to admit that this kid scared him a bit, as she had not only created a time machine but had key information on most of his friends. He thought with a scowl as he clenched his fists against his pants, 'she definitely got this from Aizen, no one is as cunning as him. But, if they can rescue Saki I don't care what it takes to get her back, even though I've only known her for a barely a day...I really care about her.'
"So what does that mean?"
Her grin took on a cruel side and her eyes were a dim gold, "to put it simply my dear (add a little suspense)... Time for war."
Seiza- "proper sitting" in Japanese, traditional form of sitting. One kneels on the floor and balances body on top of the legs and ankles point out.
I promise that next chapter will be the war...any ideas on who each kid will face?
