Laspru was a beautiful tropical island, very unusual. Angelica was enchanted by the colorful plants and animals and looked at the scenery before her with dreamy eyes.

"It's beautiful," she said to herself.

"I have seen better," Jack looked at her pointedly, but she missed it.

"I bet you haven't," she told him while still looking at the wonderland in front of her. "Because anything more beautiful simply doesn't exist."

Jack rolled his eyes. "I was talking about you, luv. Especially when you're nice to me... Especially at night," he finished in a faint seductive whisper behind her.

"Don't push your luck, Jack. I cannot trust you. I won't. You always fail my trust," she said as she turned around to face him.

He frowned. She gave him a completely different message at night. "But at night I thought you-"

"Well you were wrong. You want to leave me, but I will not allow it," she said.

Jack was about to sigh in relief when she added, "Because I will do it first, before you can. This time I am serious."

Elizabeth watched from a distance as Jack followed Angelica with his eyes as she walked away from him. She knew it was partly her fault because of the talk she had with Angelica just an hour ago.

"Fine! GO ahead! I don't need you anyway," Jack shouted after her.

Elizabeth placed a hand on his shoulder, but Jack didn't look at her. He watched Angelica as she hugged Max to her chest softly and walked up to Alec.

"She is going through a difficult time, Jack. Be patient with her or you'll live the rest of your life in regret... She will open up to you when shes ready. Give her time and stop being so arrogant," she advised kindly.

"That wench has killed my patience. All of it! One moment everything is okay, the next she is ripping my neck apart. I'm sure John or Fenlardos would love to take my place because I have had enough," he said calmly and took off the lace on his left wrist, letting it fall to the ground, "I will not fight for her anymore. She is free. So am I."

"Jack..." Elizabeth started.

"You have a midget to look after. Do just that and leave me alone," he said and walked away. He took his compass and looked at it, then at Angelica. He did not want to open it in fear of where the arrow would point to.

Lizzie!" he called, she turned around just in time to catch the compass, "lead the way, luv."

It was getting dark and the once hot air became humid. The sun turned the sky pink as it disappeared behind the horizon, taking the warmth of the day with it.

"We stop here," shouted Gibbs as the exhausted men dropped to the ground before he could finish his sentence.

Angelica walked away because she wished to be alone and away from unwanted eyes of the crew. She threw her clothes in a neat pile on the ground and dived into a hot spring of crystal blue water. Her cheeks were smudged with black kohl as she sat in the soothing bath, thinking.

"Oh... I didn't see you leave the others. This spring has caught my eye too."

Angelica opened her eyes to see Elizabeth standing in front of her.

"Do you mind if I..." she trailed off.

"No, not at all. All a woman needs in a middle of a jungle is a hot bath," Angelica replied and forced a smile which did not manage to reach her sad eyes.

"Yes," Elizabeth agreed and soon joined Angelica in the hot water.

"You have brought alcohol with you?" Angelica eyed the bottled with a raised eyebrow.

"Jack has a bad influence on people," Elizabeth answered, "Want some?"

An hour later...

"Yo ho you ho a pirate's life for me!" the two wet and drunk women slurred loudly, laughing stupidly in between.

"I have just... remembered something and you... should defiantly hear it, Ang-ie!" Elizabeth exclaimed happily.

"You know how to kill a man, preferably Jack Sparrow?" Angelica asked, intrigued.

"It's about the first kill me and will shared. We were in a closet when-"

"Gross. I don't want to hear it," Angelica interrupted with a disgusted voice, "Tell me how you killed Jack instead. That is so interesting!"

"You didn't let me finish! That is so rude Missy," Elizabeth pointed a finger in her face and touched her nose with difficulty as she saw two Angelicas instead of one.

"Oh? Is it? Well I'm sorry. Do continue," Angelica said and hiccuped at the same time.

"Where was I? AH, yes. We were both fifteen- What is that noise? I'm trying to concentrate here!" she asked.

Angelica smirked devilishly. "Seems like we have company."

Distant male voices became louder and louder as the two naked women snickered foolishly to themselves.

"Oops... should we go?"

"Nah."

"Maybe we should?"

"Possibly."

"Lets go."

"That's a good Idea! How come I never thought of it?" Angelica pouted.

They got out of the hot water and reached for their clothes clumsily, laughing uncontrollably.

The next morning...

"Should we wake them up, Captain?" whispered Daniel as he and the rest of the crew gathered around in a circle.

Jack's left eye twitched as he looked down at Angelica and Elizabeth who were sprawled on the ground together. They were covered in dirt, Angelica's cheeks were black from Kohl, their clothes was wrinkled and their hair was a mess.

At first everyone thought they had a fight, but changed their opinion when they saw the bottles next to them.

"They look quite petrifying," was all Jack could say.

"Mummy, mummy. Wake up! I am bored," all heads snapped to little Will who was the cause of the loud noise.

"Shh!" the sound came out in unison.

"Hmm... drink up my hearties yo ho..." mumbled Angelica in her sleep as Elizabeth opened her eyes to her son's voice.

"Will?" she groaned as the little boy jumped onto his mother happily.

Angelica sat up suddenly with wide eyes as if stabbed and leaped to her feet, disappearing from everyone's view just in time as the contents of her stomach spilled out. She wiped her mouth with her sleeve when she was done and closed her eyes, holding onto the tree as if it was a lifeline.

Both Angelica and Elizabeth were silent as the grave for the rest of the day, walking side by side with Will clinging on to Angelica's hand. The crew was ahead of them as Elizabeth said "left" or "right" every hour and then when the arrow changed direction.

They stopped in front of an old and huge palace by the end of the day, Jack not even looking at Angelica once.

"You stay here and stand watch. I will go alone," Jack ordered as he lit a torch and walked past Angelica as if she was invisible, nearly knocking her off her feet.

Angelica grabbed another torch and followed angrily. It was pitch dark inside and all the windows were hammered with sheets of wood. Echoes of water droplets surrounded the darkness. The walls were old, the floor and stairs unreliable to walk on. The damp atmosphere allowed moss to grow along the floor and walls.

"I said I will go alone. Is that so hard to understand?" he snapped.

"Not at all. I am going on my own. See?" she said and went up the stairs, snuffing out her torch.

"Oh? So you think I will allow you to find the quill first so you run off with it?" he shouted after her and followed. It was pitch black and he did not know where she went because she extinguished her torch.

"Stop shouting," her groan came out somewhere in the dark.

"Oh what's wrong? Little hussy has a headache?" he said. He grabbed a rock off the floor and threw it against a metal armor, creating an unbearably loud clatter that echoed through the endless rooms.

"Stop it!" she hissed.

"Why? Don't you like it?" he asked and threw another stone.

"Stop!"

And another.

"Jack!"

And then another, sending the armor to the floor with a big bang.

"Jack!" this time she yelped and his smirk disappeared as the floor began to crumble beneath them.

He saw her faint outline and grabbed her just in time as the floor disappeared and broke all the following floors beneath, leaving them hanging in midair. Jack held a chandelier in one hand and Angelica's hand in the other, his muscles ripping from the tension whilst he was supporting the weights of two people with one hand.

"Jack...?" she said with fear.

"Not now," he said breathlessly as droplets of sweat trickled down his face.

"Look down," she urged.

He opened his eyes and did so. The torch he dropped illuminated the floor and they happened to be hanging twelve floors from the ground since there happened to be some kind of underground city whose floors have been destroyed as well.

He realized with horror that Angelica's hand was slipping out of his own.

"It won't hold the two of us," she said weakly as the chandelier began to detach from the ceiling.

"Quite woman, I'm trying to think," his voice trembled just as his muscles did.

"I love you, Jack," she whispered as her fingers loosened around his hand. His eyes widened as he clutched onto her even tighter.

"Angelica, don't," he pleaded as she slipped out of his hand slowly.

With all the strength he didn't know he possessed he pulled her up so she was in level with him.

"Hold onto me," he begged.

Please..." he added in a whispered plea when she looked into his eyes apologetically as if trying to memorize him before she died.

The horror-struck look in his eyes made her wrap her legs around his thighs and her arm around his waist.

"Don't let go. If we'll fall, we'll fall together."

She hugged his warm body tighter and buried her face into his chest as he grabbed the chandelier with his second hand. He swung backwards and forwards, trying to reach the left over of the floor. If she would die then at least in his arms.

The chandelier chain snapped and he clutched onto the edge of the floor just in time as it fell into the darkness. He gathered his leftover strength together and pulled them up, collapsing onto the floor breathlessly with Angelica on top his chest.

"Are we dead?" she asked with her eyes still shut from fear.

He looked at the deep hole next to them. "No," he answered.

They laid in silence as they got their breath back. Jack brought his hand to the back of her head and stroked her slowly when he felt warm droplets soak his shirt.

"Shh," he whispered, resting his chin against her head. She clung onto him tighter in response.

"Everything will be alright. I don't see the point of crying now, angel," he whispered as he ran soothing on her back.

"This morning, it was a test," she mumbled between sobs.

"Eh?"

"I was testing you and you failed," she said and lifted her head even though she could not see his face in the dark.

"I don't understand. Testing me on what?" he asked, confused.

"Elizabeth helped me realize something and I decided to test you to see if your words were true. But it turned out that your words were nothing but words. You easily let me go," she whispered.

"I do love you if that's what you mean," he said and wrapped his arms around her back to pull her closer. He grabbed her hair and kissed her roughly, his kiss demanding. She only kissed him back softly as if forced.

"What's wrong? Elizabeth said you wanted to tell me something," he said, resting his forehead against hers.

"I have nothing to tell you!" she said too quickly and tried to get off him, but he held her.

"You can trust me, luv. I promise," he said, "After the near death experience I think I have deserved your trust."

Should she tell him? How would he react if she did? Could she trust him?

"I am..." she hesitated, "I... well... In life there are times when... well... what I want to say is...I'm-"

"You're what?" he asked amused, "Whatever you say don't say pregnant because I will kill myself. Or run away as fast as my legs would carry," he nudged her playfully with a laugh trying to cheer her up.

Angelica had the urge to jump into the big hole next to them. As if he knew what she was going to say and said that on purpose.

"You would run away?" she asked weakly as new tears began to form in her eyes.

"Of course I would," he said and brought some hair behind her ear. "I would not want to be tied down to such a pretty lady as yourself, eh? It would spoil my glorious reputation," he said with a smirk, oblivious what effect those words had on her.

"So... what did you what to tell me, luv? That I'm ravishingly handsome, perhaps?"

"I want to learn how to play a piano," she lied, feeling that her life has ended. Her stomach felt empty even if it wouldn't be for a while.

Jack raised an eyebrow. "And you hesitated to tell me that?"

"I thought you would laugh," she answered and got off him, thankful that the dark did not give away the stream of tears that ran down her cheeks.

"You certainly don't know me, luv. I don't see all the fuss. Is everything okay between us now?" he asked hopefully, not knowing he has just ruined everything there has ever been between the two with his stupid jokes.

"We need to find the quill," she said ignoring his question. She hated him. She hated herself. She hated everything.
