"Hey Logan." Tristan flipped his phone open as he answered his friends call.
"Hey Tris haven't heard from you in awhile thought maybe you'd fallen off the face of the earth." Logan chuckled at his own joke.
"No just busy with classes getting ready to graduate and you'll be happy to know getting ready to go to Yale.
"That's great. Except I won't be there."
"What do you mean you won't be there? Logan please don't tell me you got kicked out of Yale."
"No I didn't get kicked out of Yale, Me, Colin and Finn are going to take a year off and sail."
"Of course you are. What does that mean for the LDB?"
"Oh it's still going on just Stephanie will be running it along with Seth and Robert."
"Oh Joy. Well make sure they know Rory Gilmore is also attending Yale and as you know she's a legacy."
"Ah still hanging out with the kind of sister."
"She's not my sister." Tristan snapped. "We just happen to share a sister who by the way neither of use has really even met."
"Whoa hit a nerve there didn't I. sorry anyway I'm glad you're coming to Yale. You'll have to catch up at some point before we sail. Got to go though meeting everyone at the pub."
"Of course you are. Okay Logan I'll talk to you later." With that the phone call was disconnected. Shaking his head Tristan shoved his phone back into his pocket and got ready to head over to the elder Gilmore's for Friday night dinner and the telling of the Gilmore Grandparents that their granddaughter was following in the Gilmore Legacy.
"Ready to go in." Tristan smirked as he twirled the key around his finger.
"You're an evil child." Lorelai pouted as they stood outside her parent's door.
"I know but you love me." He smirked as he bent around Lorelai and rang the doorbell.
"Hello." A tiny woman with a severe bun opened the door.
"Hello we're expected." Lorelai stepped through and handed the maid her coat.
"Thank you." Rory said as she handed her own coat over. Tristan nodded as he handed his coat over.
"Hello." Emily came into the foyer. "Well are you just going to stand there." She glared over at the maid. "I mean honestly." She huffed. "Well lets go into the living room." The other three followed her.
"Hello Grandpa." Rory said taking a seat.
"Rory dear good to see you." Emily poured drinks and passed them out.
"So Rory Tristan how have classes been going?" Emily asked.
"Good we're getting ready for Graduation so that's time consuming. And all the finals coming up." Rory shivered just at the thought of it.
"I think she'll put herself into a Coma with all the studying she's doing." Tristan joked.
"Studying is great but so is rest." Richard said.
"Yes Grandpa I'll remember that." They all headed into the dining room for dinner.
"So Lorelai your birthday is coming up and I'd like to give you your gift now if you're not opposed.'
"Gifts of course I want gifts." Lorelai rubbed her hands together.
"Well then here you go." Richard handed over an envelope. Lorelai opened it and her jaw dropped.
"This is.. this is a million dollars."
"Yes that it is. When you were born I set up a trust fund for you it was to go towards your collage but of course you didn't go to college and really it should have went to you at 21 but well you know things happen. I'd almost forgotten about the account until I got a phone call the bank I'd set it up through was closing and I had to withdraw. The money is yours it's always been yours and I'm sorry I didn't get it to you before this."
"Wow I… thank you." Lorelai got up and went around the table hugging her father. "Thank you."
"You're welcome Lorelai." He smiled just seeing the look of joy on his daughters face. She looked over at her mother and then did something she hadn't done since she was a child she hugged her. Emily was stunned.
"Thank you mom." Lorelai whispered.
"Well Lorelai you're welcome." Emily hugged her daughter back just enjoying having her daughter in her arms once again. Lorelai took her seat again and dinner was resumed.
"Well I was going to tell you that I decided to go to Yale but Think mom just upstaged me." Rory joked.
"What oh Rory Yale." Emily looked towards her granddaughter.
"Yes Grandma after much consideration I'm going to Yale. Tristan is to."
'Oh you two this is amazing. This calls for a special celebration for both of you next week we will be celebrating you going to an amazing school.
"Rory are you sure this is what you want?" Richard asked looking over at his granddaughter.
"Yes Grandpa I thought about this a lot and Yale is where I want to be."
"Then I couldn't be happier." The rest of the dinner went by and the three of them found themselves out in the driveway again.
"Well that was unexpected." Lorelai still felt faint thinking of the money in her purse.
"Yeah but now you can buy the Dragonfly like you've been wanting to do for years.
"I can oh my I can I can open my inn." Lorelai though about how after all of these years she could finally run with her dream.
"Well you two I think this has been quite enough excitement for me for one night Tristan headed towards his car.
"I'll see you tomorrow thought right?" Rory called out to him.
"Of course you will."
"Why what's going on tomorrow. Does it have to do with my birthday. " Lorelai asked.
"Just hanging out the usual. You said you didn't want a party remember" Rory shrugged getting into the jeep.
"You're no fun."
"Just think of all of your money that should sooth you."
"You're right."
The next day Rory waved at Luke as she passed him fixing the porch rail. "Hey Luke good luck the list is long this year.
"Thanks for the warning."
"You are coming to the party tonight right."
"Like I could miss it if I tried."
"True." She waved as she walked off to the finish the errands she had before the party tonight.
"Okay they're coming." Tristan came up behind her.
"You got he bangles oh my I'm freaking out I didn't think you could actually do it.
"Of course I did I told you I would didn't I? How long until your mother notices all the town commotion."
"Well she has look as her personal slave basically all day so she probably won't notice anything."
"Dirty." Tristan said.
"Yeah you've been hanging out with me for too long. So when will they be getting here?"
"An hour my dad had to call in a few favors but yeah they're coming. "
"You're amazing you know that right." Rory jumped and hugged him.
"I knew you couldn't resist me." He joked hugging her back. She untangled herself from him and stuck her tongue out.
The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent getting everything set up and Rory trying to not hyperventilate that Tristan actually had gotten the Bangles. Just as the giant pizza was being lowered Rory clapped her hands and looked around.
"Okay it's time to go and get my mom. Let's go." She grabbed Tristan and pulled him along.
"Slow down Gilmore's don't run and you'll trip." He laughed at her as she raced up the steps and through the front door. She didn't even give her mom time to talk as she grabbed her and raced out the door Tristan and Luke shaking their heads and following.
"Gilmore don't run." Lorelai panted as they came to the town square do I have to give you a new rule book?"
"I think you'll let me slide on this one look." Rory waved her hands in front of her and Lorelai looked up her mouth dropping.
"Is that a giant pizza?" Her eyes swirled around. "Is that the BANGLES?" She shirked.
"Yeah you can thank Tristan for that one. Happy Birthday mom."
"Thank you." Lorelai squeezed her "And thank you." She grabbed Tristan in a crushing hug. "You're amazing both of you. Now lets get this party started.
That night music wafted around the square and everyone let summer start for them just a little early. "You are amazing if I haven't told you before." Rory whispered to Tristan as the night enveloped them.
"No you're the one who is amazing." He whispered wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
A/N thanks to those that reviewed. So I changed the birthday how Lorelai got the money and how much it was. It will play a role later. Tristan and Rory are getting closer and I know how their first kiss will go so stay tuned for that. Not sure exactly what will happen next.
