Alex
Crow was way more excited than I was. I mean, Yay! A school full of mutants! But I was wary. I had never heard Scott or Jean talk about or even mention this school before. Jean seemed to sense this. "Hey Scott? Can you and Crow go into the living room for a little bit?" Crow's eyebrows furrowed together.
"Why? What's wrong?" Jean shook her head and smiled.
"No, no. Nothing's wrong I just wanna talk to Alex really quickly." They nodded and walked out of the room slowly. Jean sat down her cake. "So what's wrong? Is it Crow?" I felt my face grow red.
"No! It's not Crow." She cocked her head slightly to the left and smiled.
"Then what is it?" I shook head and leaned back.
"Well, I was kinda insulted by Scott's gift. And I don't know about this new school. How can we be positive it's ok?" Jean looked and me then blinked.
"Alex, Scott and I have worked there. There are students who have horns and green skin and many other physical and nonphysical powers and attributes that label them as not normal." She leaned forward and clasped one of my hands. "I need you to be ok with this. With the violence between you and Sky, Crow and Maddy might get caught middle. Crow kind of already is. I know she is trying to teach you how to control your powers."
"But-"
"And I know you trust her. She's the ONLY one you trust." Jean's lips didn't move but I heard her voice in my head. I quickly glanced at the living room but Crow and Scott were talking and laughing but neither of them seemed to have heard Jean's thought. "You really don't want Maddy to be caught in this. She may be very very powerful but she is still only 15." I looked down.
"Yeah, I know. I just don't know." Jean squeezed my hand.
"If worse comes to worse than you can make fun of Scott in his class." I smirked. Crow walked in followed by Scott.
"Hey, my mom just called. She said I need to come home now." Jean let go of my hand and hugged her. Crow hesitated then kissed my cheek and quickly left.
"Aw! You guys are so cute!" Scott mocked. I glared at him and Jean punched his shoulder.
"Lay off, Summers. You were like that when we started dating." I raised my hands in defense.
"We aren't dating." I said. Scott smirked and Jean smiled as well. I grabbed the book Scott had gotten me and threw it at him. He caught it. "You of all people should not have gotten me a guide on being cool. You, Scott Summers, are one of the uncoolest people I know." I said smugly. He snorted.
"And you remind me every day." I nodded and grabbed another piece of cake. "Well it's a good thing that this isn't your real gift." I raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" Jean slid into the chair next to me and handed me a thin box. I grabbed it and opened it to find an iphone 6s. "Damn!" I looked up at Scott. "Seriously!" He nodded. I slapped his shoulder. "Thanks!" He smiled but I saw a tinge of sadness in his eyes. Scott knew I wasn't really into physical things, like hugging and stuff like that but I knew Scott was sad that I wouldn't hug my own brother. Jean got up and hugged Scott from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on her shoulder. He smiled wider and clasped her hands. I pulled out my old phone and started transferring data over to my new one. I glanced up to see Scott pull Jean in front of him and kiss her. Sometimes Scott could be a stubborn ass but he was still my brother and even though I didn't show it I loved him.
