"Hummhummhumm...but I don't fear the dark or any risk that comes along, cause I'm blind as a wolfbat and twice as stron-" hold it. Pretty girl at 3 o'clock, and she looks to be in need of assistance. "There you are. I've been looking everywhere for you." What kind of guy would leave that poor, innocent girl at the gym manager's mercy, "It's alright, Toza. She's with me."

"Yeah, I'm with him." She played along.

"Nabbed myself a pretty one, huh?" He smirked.

"Nabbed?! No, we're not together." Oops. His smirk changed into a sheepish grin.

"Well, she's just a friend," he admitted, "but can't blame me for trying, huh?" he winked at the old man. Who wrote them off and went back to his weights, "Right this way, Miss."

"Thank you, Sir." she put her hand up, "Seriously, thanks."

"No problem." he said as soon as they were out of Toza's hearing range. "If you want to watch the match, I can offer you the best seat in the house...if you don't mind standing, that is."

"That'd be great, thanks!" And now for the big unveiling.

"Whaddya think, best seats in the house, huh?"

"Whoa. Unbelievable." The girl surveyed the place, "This place is even more amazing than I imagined."

"My name's Bolin." he switched his helmet to his left and offered his hand. She was too preoccupied, so he nudged her a little."

"Oh. Korra." She shook his hand while keeping her eyes on the ring.

"As in-"

"Psst." Mako got his attention, "Bolin."

"Yeah?" Uh-oh. Somehow, Bolin had a pretty good idea what Mako wanted.

"I told you; you have to stop bringing your crazy fangirls in here before the matches. Get her out of here."

"Come on, Mako. I already said she could stay. Besides, I had a good feeling about her and it paid off." he couldn't wait to introduce them, "Come here, I want you to meet my brother, Mako."

"Mako? Wow. I-I heard you on the radio." she stuck out her hand.

"Come on, Bolin. We're up."

"Or...I could meet him later."

"Yeah, sorry about that. My brother just gets focused before a match." he put on the helmet, "Wish me luck...not that I'll need it."

"Whoohoo! Yes! One more win, and we're in the championship tournament." He had to celebrate, but now that it was out of his system... "So, whaddya think? Bolin's got some moves, huh?"

"What did I think?" She grabbed his uniform and almost pulled him off his feet, "What did I think? That was amazing!" she pushed him away. He took a step back to regain his balance.

"You did more harm than good out there." Mako nagged Hasook. "You almost cost us the match."

"We won, didn't we?" The waterbender almost slammed into Bolin as they came by.

"Barely."

"Inch is as good as a mile, Bro." Bolin tried to defuse the situation because in his opinion, it was a time to celebrate.

"No it's not. Next time we might not be so lucky."

"Get off my case, pal!" And...Hasook was outta there, he narrowly dodged Asami as she slid in.

"Wow! What a hat trick!"

"Hi, Asami."

"Hey, Asami!" Bolin called, excited to introduce Korra to someone who wasn't a complete wet blanket, "I want you to meet someone. Korra, this is my best friend...and my brother's girlfriend...Asami." he bowed low for his intro, "Asami, this is my new friend... the avatar, Korra."

"I'm an idiot." Mako realized, his brother nodded vigorously. Maybe next time he'll listen when his little brother tries to make an introduction.

"Yes you are." She agreed.

"Wow, the avatar." Asami cut it off before it could get any worse, "It's nice to meet you."

"Yeah, you too. Listen," she leaned in, "how do you put up with that jerk?"

"He's not always a jerk."

"Yes he is." Bolin whispered, but made sure it was loud enough for his brother to hear.

"Hey!" Mako pushed him,

"Well, you are." Bolin laughed, pushing him back.

"I am not!" and the brother vs brother wrestling match was on. Mako tackled Bolin into the door. Bolin pushed his brother down to free himself and locked his arms around his opponent's waist after he'd straightened up.

"Are too," he started pushing his weight to make his lighter brother move backwards,

"Overgrown boys." Asami rolled her eyes.

"Should we do something?" Korra asked, bewildered.

"No, it's just sibling rivalry." she waved it off, "they'll sort it out themselves. Besides, it's usually fun to watch."

"Just admit... defeat, Mako." Bolin huffed as he moved Mako further backwards, "You know... you can... only... beat me in the probending ring."

"Wanna... bet?" an evil grin appeared on the firebender's face as he sent a spark towards Bolin's boot. The earthbender broke his hold to avoid the flame, but used the new position to his advantage. He put his right arm around Mako's thigh and the left around his back.

"Put me down!" Mako yelled, none to happy about being thrown over his little brother's shoulder. He was about to throw another spark when he heard,

"Whatever you say, Bro!" And in a millisecond, the elder brother figured out what was going to happen...but it was a millisecond too late.

Splash!

"Urgh...Bolin!" Mako shook his fist from below as the three above smiled down at him.

"Never get into a wrestling match with an earthbender!" The victor gloated. The loser mumbled and groaned as he climbed the ladder back up, "Ah, don't look at me that way, Bro, you had to get cleaned up for your date anyway...I just helped you out."

"I thought you were coming with us, Bo."

"So I can watch you make loveydovey eyes at each other...I think I'll pass."

"If you're sure." Mako shrugged, "I'm gonna go get changed." Exit: Mako.

"I'll meet you outside. Bye, Bo." she gave him a hug.

"Bye, Asami." Exit: Asami. "So...Tenzin let you off the island, huh?" That was nice of his uncle. Last he'd heard, Tenzin was keeping the her prisoner in an attempt to keep her focused and out of trouble. The avatar went a little pale.

"How did you know about that? Oh, I guess everyone in the city does..uhh...yeah, he knows I'm here." And his mom called him a bad liar.

"Snuck out, didn't ya." Bolin flat-lined.

"Could you maybe not say anything about this? It's just that I've wanted to see a probending match since I was a kid."

"Ah, don't worry about it." he assured before he suddenly got a panicked look as he realized that he could get into trouble for this too, "But listen, if you get caught, you get caught by yourself. I don't want Master Arrowhead breathing down my neck."

"I can't believe you just called Master Tenzin that." Korra laughed, "But it's a deal. And I'm not even sorry I did it, this was amazing. It's like there's a whole new style of bending here. I'm been immersed in bending my whole life and I've never seen anything like that. You think you could show me some moves?"

"Absolutely! How many people get to say they taught the avatar a thing or two? Right this way, Ma'am."

"Thank you, Sir."

"Alright, then. Here we are. Show me what you got." He watched her get into a solid stance and thought about stopping her there, but went ahead and let her throw a couple discs, "Nice. Great power! But in a match, you'd be a siting turtleduck. That only kind of stance works when you're on bendable ground. In the probending ring you gotta trade power for agility and stay light on your feet," he danced before planting his feet, "until you're ready to dig in and..." Two more discs went into the net.

"You mean like this?" She mimicked his moves almost perfectly.

"Wow. Nice adjustment. You're a natural at this." A chime was heard and Bolin looked at the gym clock with a groan, "Aw, man. I didn't realize it was getting this late."

"Is there something you had to do?" Korra asked.

"Yeah, I gotta work tomorrow morning so..." he couldn't bring himself to say it when he'd promised to show her some things.

"So...this lesson's over."

"Sorry. But I better get upstairs and get some shuteye." He explained.

"Huh? You live here?"

"Yeah, me and my brother rent the attic. It's nothing fancy, but we got some great views."

"Well, I guess I better leave."

"Yeah. But, hey," he patted her shoulder as they walked out of the gym, "come and see our next match if you can get away. Just tell Toza I said you could."

…...

"Where's the fire, Boy?" Lin asked her son as he barreled into her office and nearly shoved her over to get her bottom drawer open.

"I didn't sleep much, and I got to a late start this morning, and I only got a few minutes before my shift starts." Bolin answered as he took off his arm guards and threw them in her desk, since he really didn't need them in a police station. "Is that coffee?"

"Yes."

"Can I have a drink?" He put on his best pout.

"Over my dead body." Or over her already dead body, as the case may be, "I'm running on twenty-three hours myself."

"Oh. Did you at least get to hear my match last night?"

"Lightning Bolt Zolt thought it'd be best if I was downtown most of last night." She snarled at the thought.

"Well, we won thanks to a cool hat trick from Mako."

"Good." Actually, it was great, but if she showed interest Bolin would go into great detail and he didn't have time for that.

"You know, you've only been to one match, Mom." It wasn't a secret that she didn't like him competing in the probending ring. After all, it put an abrupt halt to his metalbending training, but in spite of that she said she'd watch him play. However, one match...it made him wonder whether or not she really cared about his career.

"What would you like me to do, Boy?" she threw her arms up in a sarcastic motion. Nearly every time Bolin had a match, the Triple Threats caused trouble. It wouldn't surprise her if their leader was doing it just to get back at her for threatening to kill him and his men. Honestly...she gives a man fair warning, and he keeps her from seeing her son compete. If she'd known he was going to be this childish about it, she would've buried them all that night and been done with it. "You think I should just quit?"

"No, but...couldn't you make a little time for your son?"

"Boy, if you're hurt, sick or actually need me, I'll be there; this job be damned. But I can't risk peoples' lives just to watch a game." No matter how much she wanted to be there.

"...I guess you're right." He couldn't let innocent people get hurt for him, "But it's still not fair."

"Life isn't fair." She glanced at her clock, "You got one minute." Oops, no time for a heart to heart now.

"Gotta go, bye." He slammed her desk drawer closed, "Mom, you know I love you but," he swiped a swig of her coffee and made a run for it.

"You gotta death wish?!" She shouted after him.

"You'll never catch me, Copper!"
