Chapter 21
A whole new world
Inu's POV
All air had been knocked out of me; I struggled trying to get fresh air into my lungs. As I slowly got small breaths oxygen into me, I noticed that Kohana and Izayoi were the ones
that were causing me to lose my breath. "Guys get off of me." I said as I shook them. They both stirred then sat up off of me. I sat up and took in huge gulps of air. My eyes
searched the area around me, it was unfamiliar. "Where are we?" Kohana asked as she rubbed her head. "No clue." I said. I got up from the ground and searched along the wall. I
looked up to notice the blue sky. It dawned on me that we were in the well, but the well at grandma's shrine was covered in that building. "I think were in the well." I told my sisters.
"The well?" Izayoi asked. "Come over here, I'll boost you guys up." I said. Kohana and Izayoi came to stand beside me. I crouched down and cupped my hands together. "Izayoi you
first, step into my hands and I'll boost you, after you help Kohana." I said.
Izayoi placed her foot into my hands and I lifted her up. She grabbed onto the edge of the well and lifted herself the rest of the way. "Kohana your next." I said. Kohana hesitated a
moment before placing her foot in my hands. Izayoi had her hand extended to help Kohana; Kohana grabbed a hold and pulled herself up. "Um Inu how are you going to get out?"
Izayoi asked as she looked down into the well. I laughed. "I'm going to climb." I said. I placed my hands into a deep spot and started to climb. In no time I joined my sisters. I was
confused when I got to the top; all around us was a forest. "Inu where are we?" Kohana asked as she came closer to me. "No clue." I said, and it was the truth, I had no clue where
we were. I looked around our surroundings; I didn't feel like we were in any danger.
I noticed off in the distance smoke floating up in the air. "Why don't we go that way?" I told them as I pointed to the smoke in the distance. "Okay." Izayoi said as she grabbed my
hand. I was going to pull away when I noticed that she looked sacred, a quick glance at Kohana confirmed that they both were scared. I held out my other hand for Kohana, she
grabbed a hold and together we walked in the direction of the smoke. I didn't take long to get to the smoke, which was coming from a village. We stopped a top of a hill and looked
over the village; people were walking around carrying baskets of food and buckets of water. The thing that stuck out the most about this village was the old timey it looked. It was
nothing like where we lived. "Why are these people dressed like that? Why are they living like that?" Kohana asked as she stepped forward to get a better look.
I held my hand out for Kohana to get back here when I heard someone scream. "DEMONS" I instantly put my guard up, grabbed Kohana, pushed both her and Izayoi behind me. A
group of men surround us, all holding a spear to us. Kohana and Izayoi started to whimper. "Keep quite." I whispered to them. I scanned the group, they were all humans. I knew
what I was; mom had told us about a year ago. I could take them, but that meant going against me vowing never to use my strength against a human. "Make way, Lady Sango
approaches to deal with the demons." The men parted and a lady came into view. She was dressed in this tight leather outfit with this huge boomerang strapped to her back. I did
not like the sight of her, I crouched down lower and bared my fangs at her, and she stepped closer, to close for me I let out a warning growl.
The lady stopped, she looked at us for a moment then turned back to the men. "They are just children; I do not think they will cause any damage." She said. She looked back at us,
since Kohana and Izayoi were shielded behind my back she stared at me. Her eyes brows came together as a confused look crossed her face. "Is it just me or does he looks like
Inuyasha?" The lady said. Izayoi and Kohana's head popped up. "Don't" I growled low, so they would hear me. "He does." One of them men said. The lady looked back at the men.
"Someone go fetch Inuyasha, he is down at the creek. Bring him to my hut." The lady said. One of them men nodded then walked away. The lady turned back to us. "Come on
children, we'll go to my hut where we will get everything straightened out." The lady said smiling.
I had no choice to follow since then rest of the men kept their weapons on us. "Inu what are we going to do?" Izayoi whispered to me. "I'm thinking of something, kept quite both of
you." I said to them. We stopped walking in front of this house thing. The lady parted the weird door then waved us inside. We walked inside; I noticed it was a bit big on the inside
with a fire pit in the middle. "Sit down; I'll make you something to eat." The lady said. We sat down on the floor beside the fire pit. Both girls kept their heads down, which I was glad
for. "Why don't you tell me your names?" The lady said. "Not going to happen." I said. "Okay then. I'll tell you about myself then. I am Sango; I am one of the protectors of this
village." Sango said. "What are you doing out here all by yourself?" Sango asked. I kept my mouth shut; there was no way I was going to tell her anything.
The door parted, a man came in wearing this red robe with long white hair. "What's going on Sango?" The man asked. Sango nodded her head in our direction. "The villagers found
them onto of the hill." Sango said. The man huffed and crossed his arms. "You dragged me away from Kovin to have me deal with a bunch of kids." The girl's heads snapped up and
towards the man. Mom had told us that we had a brother named Kovin, who was taken from her a long time ago. I looked over to the man. As I got a good look at him I started to
notice the features about him, the gold eyes, pointed nose with the thin mouth. He looked just like me. "Did you just say Kovin?" Izayoi asked. I wanted to yell at her for talking but it
was too late now. "Yeah, Kovin is my son." The man replied. The man's eyes wandered over us. His eye brows came together when his eyes stopped on me. "Who are you?" the
man asked. Kohana and Izayoi looked back at me, waiting for me to answer. I still had no intention on telling them anything.
Kohana looked back at the man. "I am Kohana, this is my sister Izayoi and my brother Inu." I heard a gasp behind me. I looked behind to see Sango had her hand over her mouth. I
looked back at the man, who was staring wide eyed at us. "Are you Kagome's children?" Sango asked. "Yeah she is our mama." Izayoi said as she looked back and forth between
Sango and the man. "Kagome's alive?" Sango asked. I rolled my eyes. "Duh of course she is." I said as I crossed my arms over my chest. It went silent after that, only the rustling of
the door was heard. The man had slid down to the ground. I got annoyed with the silence. "Does someone want to tell us what's going on?"I asked. The man looked over to me.
"How much has your mother told you?" He asked. I went back to the day mom told us everything. "She explained to us about what we are, why we are different. She also told us
that we had a brother who she thought was living with our father. She told us that she was taken away from them a long time ago." I told him.
Kohana picked up from where I left off. "She said that no matter how hard she tried she could not get back to them." "Inuyasha you should tell them." Sango said to the man.
Inuyasha ran a hand over his bangs, brushing them out of his face. "Wait, mama said that Inu was named after his father." Kohana said. You could kind of see the wheels turning in
her mind as it clicked. Kohana and Izayoi looked to Inuyasha. "Are you our father?" They both asked at the same time. Inuyasha gave a small smile. "Yeah, I'm your father." Both girls
gave a small gasp then got up and ran over to him. "I knew one day we would finally meet our father." Izayoi said as she threw her arms around him. I stayed where I was; I had
this feeling that we weren't getting the whole story. I looked back at the three of them; Inuyasha had the two girls in a hug. "Inu aren't you happy?" Kohana asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. I didn't really know what to say, girls they showed their emotions for everything, me on the other hand, I was a little more guarded. "How come you don't
live where mama does?" Izayoi asked. "It's a long story, I would rather tell it with your mom." Inuyasha said. "Speaking of which, how do we get home?" I asked. Inuyasha looked
over to me. "Why would you want to go home?" He asked. "Well I want to go home; I don't want to stay here." I said bluntly. A pained look crossed Inuyasha's face. "The same way
you got here, through the well." I stood up. "Come on girls, were going home." I told them. Kohana looked to me. "No, I want to stay here with our dad." She said. "What about
mom? Are you going to leave her?" I snapped at her. Kohana's face fell, I knew I struck a nerve, but I did not care.
All I knew was that I wanted to get home, the sooner the better. "Well I'm leaving with or without you." I said then walked out. "Inu wait." Izayoi called after me. I kept walking; I
was forced to stop when Izayoi grabbed a hold of my arm. "Inu what it wrong with you?" Izayoi asked. I turned and faced her. "I just get a bad feeling, I feel as if there is more to
that story that they aren't telling us." I confessed to her. Izayoi stared at me for a few moments. "You have that feeling too? I felt it as soon as we entered this world." Izayoi said.
Izayoi had the gift of possessing both a half demons power but as well as the spiritual power. She was more tuned to specific things, able to detect more. Izayoi softly shook her
head. "Whatever it is Inu, Mom and dad will explain to us what happened." I turned away from her and looked to the direction of the well. "Isn't curious as to why we were able to
go through the well and mom couldn't?" I said to her.
Izayoi stepped up to be beside me. "I never thought of it, but now that you brought it up it is a bit curious." Izayoi said. I turned to my side to face her. "I'm going home, you can
stay if you want look to after Kohana." I said. Izayoi shook her head. "No, I want to go home to. I want to know the truth." Izayoi said. "Okay, let's go then." Izayoi took my hand
and we walked towards the well. As we walked I got the sensation that someone was watching us. I scanned the forest but was unable to find out what was watching us. We got
to the well and peered in. "Ladies first." I said as I gestured for Izayoi to go first. "Let's go together." She said. I nodded and hopped up onto the ledge of the well, I helped Izayoi
up. "On three…once…two…three." On three we jumped. A blue light surrounded us; as soon as it came it ended. Our feet touched earth; I looked up to see the roof of the well
house. We are home. "Inu? Izayoi?" A voice called from the top of the well. "Mama?" Izayoi called up. A few moments later we were at the top of the well, being held in mom's arms.
"Thank god you are okay, I was so worried." Mom said as she held us tighter. Izayoi pulled away. "Mama, we meet our father, Inuyasha."
