Chapter 21 is finally here! Warning: I am not very good at writing action scenes so I apologize if this is not great. I am trying to work on it and hopefully these stories will help me get better at writing them!
I guess this chapter is shorter than the last, but it doesn't seem that way at all! I have been writing rather small chapters lately, but since this story (which is the first in the installment) is coming to a close, I guess I sort of makes sense. Right?
Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to Pirates of the Caribbean. I only own Abigail Unger and Sarah Williams.

Chapter 21:
The Battle in the Cavern
When the girls reached the cave, a fight already broke out between Barbossa and Jack. Sarah looked at Abby who had pulled out a sword.
"Where did you get that from?" Sarah asked with a raised eyebrow.
"The Black Pearl. I snagged it while we were running to the rowboat," Abby shrugged.
Sarah put her hands on her hips. "And you didn't even think of getting me one?"
"There was only one," Abby said, "But I am sure there are others lying around." They both looked around the cavern. Sarah found a sword that a pirate had left on the ground.
Looking left to right, Sarah scurried over to the sword and picked it up, holding it out in front of her at a fighting stance that she had observed from the other pirates in combat while Abby ran off towards Will to cut the rope off from his hands. When the rope fell, he turned around to face her once again.
"Thanks." He looked down at her sword in her hand that she held unsure, and looked up at her eyes. They were wide. "How did you get off the Black Pearl?"
"Sarah," she answered pointing back at Sarah," And…Elizabeth. They sneaked on and unlocked the cells." She saw something flash in Will's eyes at the name. " You know," Abby continued, changing the subject, "I honestly still have no idea how to use this since I was never taught." Her hand that held the sword started to shake.
Will took a deep breath, scanning the cavern. "Well you watched others use a sword right?" Abby nodded. "Then just try to copy their movements."
She gave a small smile. "So basically just improvise?" The shaking of her hand calmed.
He smiled back. "Yeah…improvise."
A pirate yelled and ran towards the two. Abby stood there, unable to move. Forgetting what Will told her just seconds before, she tossed the sword to him and ran behind, trying to find something to throw. Will swung the sword and thus the fight between him and the pirate began.
Abby frantically searched around the piles. She would find something heavy, but too heavy for her to throw. Other objects that she found would obviously miss due to it's weird shape. The clangs of the swords were right next to her, so she quickly grabbed a small gold statue and threw it at the pirates head and he fell to the ground in one swift movement.
"I had him," Will told Abby breathlessly as he almost lost his balance on the small hill, but quickly regained it.
"I know, I just wanted to do something instead of just standing there watching." Abby told him with a smirk as she walked past him, now looking for another weapon. Sarah ran over to her and used Abby as a shield.
"Quick, cover me," Sarah ordered.
Abby's eyebrows furrowed and looked turned around. "Why?"
Sarah weakly laughed as she turned Abby back around facing forward. "I may have really peed-off one of the skeleton dudes."
Abby swallowed and looked her in the eye. "What did you do."
"I…may have shoved my sword up one of their asses."
Abby's eyes widened. "Sarah!" She pulled Sarah from behind her so they were both now facing each other. "Please tell me your joking." Abby wasn't surprised really that Sarah would attempt to do it, but she still scolded her friend.
"Nope. They're un-dead so I took the chance." Abby face palmed. From afar they heard a choking sound echo through the cavern and the two friends both turned their heads. Their eyes widened.
Non other than Captain Jack Sparrow stood under the moonlight as a skeleton with a sword stuck inside him. He seemed fine as he twirled a coin in his hand that resembled the medallion necklace. He smirked at Barbossa and said something that neither of the girls could make out. They stood in their spots in shock.
"Is that-"
"Did he have that-"
"This whole time-"
"What?"
They were cut off by a pirate sprinting towards them with a sword held high along with another who Sarah had pointed out to be the one that she stabbed. Back to back they stood as their opponents circled them. Simultaneously when the two pirates finally began to attack, they dodged the blades by crouching and rolling off the hill.
A battle cry was heard above her and the sword of her opponent barely scratched her side as she rolled away and got up. She punched the pirate in the head and kicked him in the side long enough for him to stagger back so she could get his sword.
But it was not long enough since her opponent quickly recovered and managed to cut Abby's side before she could jump out of the way completely after her quick plan didn't work out.
"Abby!" Sarah called as she watched her friend fall to the ground, clutching her side as it bled. It was not a severe wound, but bad enough to make her not want to move from the pain. First the gash on her leg and now this? Abby swore under her breath she tried to fight off the pain. The pirate above her raised his sword to finish off the fight, but Sarah managed to sprint over and tackle him to the ground.
Abby slowly sat up. "What are you doing?" Sarah knocked the sword out of the pirate's hand and began throwing punches in his face muttering at each swing of her fist. Sarah's knuckles started bleed and she paused to regain feeling in them for as they were growing numb. Abby had pulled a large gold cup from the pile next to her and crawled over to the two and smashed the cup onto the pirates head. She pulled Sarah up with her and tried to run before the pirate got up again.
"Hey, are you okay?" Sarah asked, glancing at Abby's side.
Abby nodded. "It still hurts like hell, but I'll live… I hope." Sarah smacked her in the arm. "Okay, fine. I'll live."
"Good."
An explosion erupted from a small bomb by the courtesy of the small pirate with the beard that was always smoking like it was on fire (Jacoby was his name from what Sarah had learned aboard the Black Pearl). The girls ran.
Jacoby set off another small bomb which made Will jump back into Abby who was running past. Abby groaned in pain from the impact on her side and her back as it hit the ground and some treasure lying around. Sarah was lucky enough to be able to stop before she could topple over the both of them.
"Before you ask," Abby cut in before Will could say anything, "Yes, I'm bleeding. Just a scratch."
"I wasn't going to ask," Will answered quickly, his eyes locked over Jacoby now standing before them. Oh, Abby though.
"I'm going to teach you the meaning of pain!" Jacoby growled, bring back his sword.
"You like pain?" Elizabeth asked form behind. She held a pole and swung it at his head, knocking him to the ground. "Try wearing a corset."
"Yeah! You tell him!" Abby cheered, standing back up once again.
Elizabeth held the pole out to Will who gladly took it to help stand him up. They stared at each other for a moment.
Abby looked between the two and some odd feeling rose up in her. "Okay, well lovely reunion! But we are kind of in a middle of a…disagreement, or fight, or battle, or whatever you would like to call it. Okay?"
Their trance on each other broke. Elizabeth's eyes lingered to Jack and Barbossa. Abby's eyes followed.
"Whose side is Jack on?" Elizabeth asked.
Sarah ran up behind them. "At the moment?" They all looked at each other and back at the two captains.
Three pirates were gathered not too far away and Sarah looked down at the pole that Elizabeth and Will held in their hands. They caught her eye as she looked back up at them and got the same idea. The three ran towards the pirates and sent one end of the pole through the first. The first cried out, and the rest followed in suit as Sarah, Will, and Elizabeth continued to send the pole through the them. The three pirates tried to get themselves free, but they just slid along the pole.
Abby, who had snatched a bomb from Jacoby, shoved the bomb into the rib cage of the pirate in the middle of the three while they were under the moonlight. The four than pushed the pirates out of the light to where they were not skeletons anymore, and backed away.
"No fair," the middle pirate said before him and the other two blew up.
Sarah and Will ran across the water and up to the chest that held the cursed gold. Abby saw Jack put the stolen piece into his hand and cut his hand to it would bleed, then tossed it to Will who caught it and cut his own hand.
Everyone stopped at the sound of a gunshot racked through the air. Abby looked at everyone and found Jack pointing his gun at Barbossa.
"Ten years you carry that pistol and now you waste your shot." Barbossa said with a disproving smirk.
On top of the hill, Will shouted, "He didn't waste it." Will opened his hand and two medallions covered in blood dropped into the chest, lifting the curse.
Then everyone turned their heads towards Barbossa who ripped his coat open to reveal his white shirt will blood spilling through.
"I feel…cold." Barbossa fell into a pile of gold. A bright green apple fell out of his hand. It was over.
Sarah should have felt victory in her, but she couldn't. She felt nothing. Dropping down onto her knees, her eyes scanned for Abby. Abby caught her eye. Something in Abby's were not victory that Sarah saw. She knew that look.
It wasn't the only battle they would face. It was the first. And Sarah hated it.
