Hey! Thank you veryone for reading my last chapter. Please review and tell me how I am doing. I am using now a different document program so I apologize for the different font and format. Enjoy!
Fili ran as fast as he could, racing through tunnels and flights of stairs. He had not anticipated the ambush he had previously witnessed. He knew Lucy was captured, and he felt awful for leaving her without a fight. She seemed like a great person, but he knew they both stood the best chances if he got help.
He found help when he nearly ran into his brother and that tall lass named Ellethna.
"What is it, Fili?" Kili asked worriedly.
Fili knew Ellethna had noticed Lucy's absence, the woman looked around with a frown.
"Orcs ambushed us on the upper levels." He managed through his heavy breathing.
Kili instinctively tightened his grip on his sword, ready for the Orcs to have followed Fili down the halls.
"And Queen Lucy?" Ellethna prompted.
"She was a queen?" Fili was surprised to say the least, though he had noted her regal bearing when he first saw her.
"Yes, a queen from far east. We came to help you!"
"We will get her back, do not worry," Kili soothed.
"If they have not simply killed her," Ellethna retorted. She was running her fingers through her sweaty and dirty hair. Fili doubted his hair looked much better.
"Alright," Fili announced, drawing the two closer to him, "This is what we will do, and we need to do it fast…"
The first thing Edmund noticed was a strange but soothing smell. It invaded his nostrils and cleared the fog in his brain. He could faintly hear deep throated humming, seeming to get louder and louder. in the back of his mind, he recognized the tune, but could think no further.
Suddenly Edmond became painfully aware how cold he was. Cold seemed to gently seep from the ground into his back. The air he breathed chilled him, even with that mysterious scent.
What was I doing? Edmond dully wondered, his brain moving at a snail's pace. He thought he could remember something. he saw hazy images, one of a faun in armor, one of a griffon flying away with some people on their backs. Someone on one of their backs was important to him. He saw something else. A lion.
Edmond's eyes flew open and he tried to sit up. He remembered everything; the battle, the Narnians, his sister. He also remembered blacking out after what he had guessed being hit in the head. Dizziness and vertigo hit him hard and his vision blackened, even though his eyes were open.
"Steady, my king," a low voice urged. A large hand gently pushed Edmond's shoulder downwards, forcing him to lay flat on his back again. Edmond breathed heavily as his vision cleared.
A brown haired man was leaning over him. Edmond recognized him as a Centaur even before he saw his lower half. Not many creatures had his distinctive ears and wisdom filled eyes.
"Lenus?" Edmond croaked groggily. The regal creature nodded before handing him a bowl of some herbs mixed with water. The same smell filled his nose, further clearing Edmond's mind.
"W-what happened?" He asked, looking at his surroundings.
The Centaur was kneeling on a stone ground so he could be closer to Edmond. The two were on a hill overlooking the battlefield behind them was a small field of ice with some ruins on the other side. He assumed he was sitting on ruins, the stone was old and eroded smooth, and it appeared once had been a wall or tower.
"The faun you saved called for help," Lenus explained, "I was near so I carried you off the battlefield."
Edmond could not imagine lying on the fighting grounds, bleeding out of his head. When he remembered his wound he instinctively brushed his cold fingers against strips of cloth that were wrapped around his head.
His head felt clear and the world was no longer hazy and spinning. Edmond and Lenus looked towards an old watch tower when they heard echoes of fighting and the screams of goblins. He forced his way to a standing position, ignoring the dizziness and nausea it caused. The centaur had protested at first, but then helped the persistent boy-king get to his feet.
Edmond saw three small figures fight off a squad of goblins. One of them was throwing rocks and hitting them spot on while the other two were using a sword and axe to kill them. Edmond recognized the two using weapons as dwarves, though he did not know what type of creature the third one was.
Suddenly, Edmond heard drums coming from the watch-tower. He and Lenus looked towards it. Although it was across a field of ice, they could see what was happening with some clarity. A large white orc appeared and stood on a balcony near the top of the tower. Edmond got a sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach, one of the worst feelings he had had in years. he knew something was very wrong. Then he saw her.
Lucy was being dragged by another orc just behind the pale one. She looked exhausted. Edmond squinted, trying to see if she had any cuts on her skin or other signs of injury; but he could not see clearly enough.
The white orc, who could be none other than the infamous Azog, grabbed her by the collar of her leather armor and held her in the air, her feet dangling high off the ground. Edmond cried out and ran forwards, even though he had no idea what he was going to do.
Rage started seething inside of him. Rage at the situation and his body for not being able to move faster. Dizziness made him stumble over stones. His vision blackened for a few moments and he tried to slow down his breathing.
Edmond looked up and saw that Lucy had caught sight of him. He felt helpless, which fueled his anger. As the white orc readied his half bladed arm to rip through Lucy's chest, Edmond's mind failed to work. He was too far to help her, but close enough to watch. The monster was speaking in a dreadful sounding language, but he was not listening.
He never noticed the orcs standing behind the one holding his sister violently disappear as if they were silently dragged backwards into the shadows. He failed to see the lean figure if Ellethna bolt onto the ice and draw back her throwing arm, in her fingers sat a knife.
Lucy readied herself for excruciating pain coming from her back. She was distraught that Edmond was going to see her die, it all made her worry. Before she could think of anything else she saw a knife flying past her and hitting whatever was behind. Another blade flew past her, nearly hitting her boot. She felt a sharp pain on her spine and then she dropped.
Instinctively Lucy clawed for a handhold in the rock tower she had been dropped from. Her fingers found their place and she stopped suddenly, hanging only by her fingertips.
Groaning with effort, Lucy struggled. She heard sounds of fighting right above her, but could not see what happened. The orc must have dropped her after being hit by the daggers. Before she could think of who threw the daggers a hand was thrust over the edge of the legs above her. She looked up to see Kili, the dwarf.
"Take my hand!" He yelled, inching down lower towards her hands.
Fear seized Lucy's body. To reach his hand she would need to let go with one if hers. She bit her lip before starting to swing herself side to side slightly, slowly gaining momentum. With a cry she let go with one hand and grabbed Kili's, holding on tightly.
Kili lifted Lucy up. She tried to help but had difficulty finding a handhold. Ice cut into her stomach as she was here over the edge. Once she finally sat at the top she paused to catch her breath. Her whole body shook from adrenaline and fear. Kili put his hand on her shoulder.
"Are you alright?" He asked. His brother, Fili, was fighting off the other orcs while he stood between the two and their enemies . Azog was still recovering from the two knives that were imbedded into his shoulder and thigh. Black blood oozed from his wounds, making Lucy shudder.
"Come on!" Fili yelled. The few remaining orcs were recovering from their shock of being attacked only a few moments ago, even though it felt like minutes to Lucy. She and Kili followed Fili's lead, running through the large creatures as fast as they could. Fili and Kili covered for her as she was too shaken up to fight.
The three made it out of the corridor and were running down the stairs. Screams of outrage from none other than azog sent terror into their minds. Lucy's arm stung numbly but the chilled air kept the pain at bay, as if the air was trying to help her by acting like ice.
On the bottom floor the trio nearly ran into ellethna, who embraced Lucy as soon as she recognized her. Lucy heard her whisper words in her ear, though it was in the Marenkai tongue so she did not understand.
Together the four exited the bleak watch-tower. when they were able to look out upon the ice before them they saw Thorin, Dwalin, Bilbo, Edmond, and Lenus coming towards them to help.
As soon as the siblings reached each other they embraced, taking in the comfort of the other.
Edmond pulled away and checked lucy over, noting the cut on her arm and blood on her lip from her biting it too hard. Lucy in turn saw his bandaged head and that he was even paler than usual.
"We need to kill that beast once and for all."
The siblings were drawn out of their own minds by the rough sound of Dwalin, one of Thorin's friends.
"The only way we could do that is by doing it together," Ellethna asserted. To Lucy's slight amusement she was the tallest person in the group, far surpassing the dwarves and Bilbo.
"This is a matter for the Sons of Durin," King Thorin replied.
Bilbo shook his head, " You saw what happened over there," he pointed towards the tower, "we need as many warriors as we can if we want to kill him."
Edmond straightened himself and looked the Dwarf King in the eyes. "On my honor as a fellow king, if you wish, none of us will deal the fatal blow except for you."
He could tell that the death of this Azog was a matter of family honor to Thorin. From the background information he had gainedc from his time with the lord Dain, he knew that that particular orc had many dark dealigs with their family.
Thorin nodded regally, "So be it."
While Edmond and Thorin shook hands, ellethna looked around, picking up a sound with her keen ears. Giant bats swooped in from above, coming from the north and racing to the battle below. Everyone was on guard with their weapons ready because the screeches caught everyone by surprise. out of the ruins of Ravenhill everyone heard a feminine cry.
"Kili!"
"Tauriel!" Kili yelled as he started to race towards the sound. Cries from his brother and uncle would not keep him still. Edmond and Ellethna looked at each other and shrugged slightly, Azog was still there, so they would attack soon. Lucy was already following Fili as they tried to keep up with the youngest dwarf.
Out of the corner of his watchful eye, Lenus saw a large white orc with a resemblance to Azog passing through the tower. He too was following the Elleth's voice, but with a different intent than the others.
